STALKER 2 Gamepass Players Left Stranded Ahead Of PS5 Launch - The Game Will Leave The Service After Less Than A Year

The STALKER 2 incident is yet another black mark for Xbox recently, following a controversial price hike that led to mass cancellations. Here's hoping this year's Black Friday sales will bring heavier discounts on STALKER 2 to soften the blow, because in the Zone, we don't believe in pricing stalkers out. That's Sidorovich's job.

STALKER 2 was never expensive in the first place compared to modern AAA releases. I've bought the XSX retail copy for about 50€ when it launched.

Games leave Gamepass all the time. What's the issue exactly?

Why are they stranded? Just buy the game like non-peasants if they want to play.
Haven't clicked the news, but I'm 100% convinced its just one or two random person on X (or whatever social media).

But in today's journalism, that's an outrage.

It's a third party game.
It has never been expected or even implied that these games will remain on the subscription for a long time.

Also, if you haven't played the game in the year it has been on the service you probably weren't that interested in it to begin with.

When the voice of the Monolith said 'come to me' in STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, it probably did not mean 'leave Game Pass and go to the PlayStation 5 instead', but it looks like nobody passed this message on to STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
Starting this month, all stalkers will have to drop $59.99 for the game, but if you're on PC, this might just be the start of your troubles. Unless you buy the game through the Xbox store after it leaves Game Pass, your progress won't carry over to either the Steam or Epic versions of the game.

Stranded? What? Lol

Game pass is no different than netflix. If a film leaves netflix and goes for sale or streaming on a different platform, that's just what happens with these streaming services.

If you want to own it. Buy the thing and stop renting it.

What a weird article

When does it leave?
Edit: i think its the November 15.
Can i continue playing it when i don't finish it till the 15th when i buy it on Windows Store?

Next month headline maybe:

A Month after MS raised prices on Gamepass, GTAV leaves the service, leaving users Stranded and distraught, and with no choice but to buy a $750 PS5 Pro, subscribing to PS+ Premium, then buying the game again. For Shame, MS.

It's PC for fuck's sake, of course you can keep your save - you just have to do a bit of work because these devs (or Microsoft, not sure who is to blame here exactly) are a bit dense.

The Windows Store / Game Pass version's saves are located here:
Code:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\GSCGameWorld.S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2HeartofChernobyl_6fr1t1rwfarwt\SystemAppData\xgs\000901FD11F1F4F4_0000000000000000000000007782504A\SaveGames

You can copy the files and folders located there to this folder for the Steam version
Code:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Stalker2\Saved\STEAM\SaveGames

There should be a folder called "Data" and two files with .sav extensions.

Congratulations, you're no longer stranded.

just buy cheap shits

I don't know if i should start the game right now or rather have it on Steam once it leaves game pass.
I mean i've installed it a week ago but never really got far into the game.

It's a single player game, depending on your other commitments, two weeks seem like it would be enough for a 12, 14 hour SP campaign IMO.

But it's your choice. The game has been patched a lot since launch but there's also a big update or two they announced will be rolling out soon.

It's a huge game and definitely not the kind where speeding through the main story is the way to go. Extra exploration is very rewarding, both in terms of loot and being able to visit some really cool locations. I'm usually sick of open world titles copy-pasting the same camps and outposts. In this one I really enjoyed visiting all kinds of places.

The point that they are trying to make is that the game was in a bad state for the most part of this period, only recently become or less playable and it's already leaving gamepass
How would that be MS fault though. The devs are from Ukraine, dealing with the war, MS was very lenient with them, ever after giving them the Gamepass deal and funding.

I think the biggest mistake MS made was not making sure it's a Play Anywhere title, hope they fix it.

In my opinion it wasn't in such a horrible state. There were some occasional bugs and one of the settlements was more buggy than usual, but I expected much worse given the game's troubled development (partially during the war). A-Life not being in the launch version was probably the biggest issue and what pissed off many people that they didn't get a promised feature from previous STALKER games. Afaik it's still far from perfect now so even people picking up the PS5 copy won't be getting the final version.

Personally I was sometimes annoyed that enemies used to spawn nearby, often becoming a very big threat if you weren't prepared. But other than that I enjoyed being in this world and didn't regret my purchase.
