Star Trek: Bridge Crew |OT| Graduated Star Fleet with a 2.0 GPA

Looks interesting.
Take us in to investigate. Full impulse. Maximum shields.

Sir! The away team is caught in some kind of gravity well vortex!
Number One get a transporter lock and energize!
Cant sir there is too much interference from the buffers!
Well Increase power from the main deflector dish!

We are losing their pattern cohesion!
My God! Get it back! Target scanning sensors at the anomaly. I want a full spectrum analysis!

Sir it's too late their gone.
THEY ARE GONE WHEN I SAY THEY ARE GONE!!
Scan the area and send a distress signal on all frequencies.

Ah good there's a vessel approaching already.
Sweet Jesus Christ it's the fucking Borg!

Abandon the search and get us out of here warp 9 now!
But sir the engines – FUCK! the engines we need the helm at max or we are all dead!

Sir the Borg are closing fast!
What the fuck we are at warp 9.99 how is that shit possible!
I'm not sure but from what I can calculate it's some kind of transwarp bullshit technology.

Sir! Direct hit to shields! We are being bordered and there are reports of phaser fire on decks 3, 5, and 7.

Well fight back!!

They have adapted to our weapons!
Already? For fucks sake!

Do we have any shotguns aboard? You know good old fashion metal means propulsion.
No...
Figures...
Sir! They are about to breach the bridge room!!

Fuck it! Set the self-destruct on my authorization for 10 seconds. Alpha Omega 5 Pie 2.
*Lights cigar*
See you in hell you bastards.

The Eurogamer vids are really, really funny. Almost as good an experience as playing the game.

NOTICE

If you have 100 UPLAY points, you can buy the game for any of the platforms listed below for 20% off. Note the PSVR version is a physical version.

This was apparently a bug that's now fixed on UBI's end, the discount wasn't supposed to be usable on pre-order or new items. So it no longer works.

I linked this thread in the other one as well, as I think most used that as an OT already. There are a lot of impressions and co-op matchmaking in the other thread, so hopefully people will move on over.

Is this game playable single player and offline? Is there much to do, is it any fun that way?

Edit: Beaten by a couple minutes. Is it fun though?

It's not half as fun as with real people. The AI can get a bit wonky, so you have to constantly teleport between roles to get things done in the harder missions. It's good for training though and to see what the possibilities are for every crewmember.

If you're afraid of talking to strangers online: don't. My experience is people are automaticaly very talkative and easy going in this game, as it's an necessity to play. The community is one of the least toxic I ever encountered. Yesterday we had a Tactical who was clearly playing that role for the first time and was pretty young (he sounded 15ish), and he was fucking up badly at one point, but nobody lost their cool and just talked him trough what he had to do (We were being hammered by Klingons and we needed to destroy a friendly ship to make sure some tech didn't fall into Klingons hands. We were hanging by a thread, the bridge was on fire, and the dude didn't realize he had to shoot the friendly ship instead of the Red Klingons. I, as helmsman, actually had to jump to another location to buy us time to do some necesairy repears.)

It can get wonky here and there and if your chair has arms or sides on it. Captain is a pain the ass.

You can lean forward and set camera though.

It works good enough and it will work fine most of the time. At least it has in my experience.

Yea I'd like to know what idiot didn't think anyone would be sitting in some sort of arm chair that has arms to get in the way. There needs to be some sort of chair settings or something, it's annoying to have to readjust the headset because they didn't think to put the in-game buttons a bit higher up.

The game DOES SUPPORT crossplay between Rift, Vive and PSVR.

If only more VR games did this. This is a great move to help multiplayer VR games find a decent audience and help VR grow even more.

Loving it at the min, Great with friends in VR. Albeit we keep getting detected during the avoid detection mission objective and don't know why, Fun learning on the go though.

That big circle on the map is the range at which you can remain undetected. It gets wider when your speed goes over 4000, or if you raise shields or arm torpedos. You can reduce it by hiding inside anomalies.

If an enemy is heading your way you can disrupt their engines to give you more time to move away.

Well this is only really possible because of Uplay. And its a supported feature for all Ubisoft VR titles. But yeah great they are doing it.

And holy shit this game is phenomenal. So much fun, but so much nuance.

Added everyone to the list and yeah there needs to be some sort of height adjustment.

Picked this up and ran through the training solo mission. That was fun, going to have to try it multiplayer. Just need to figure out my uplay account. =)

Is there much point to getting this game if you aren't on PS-plus, basically are the solo missions worth a purchase alone? I'm not sure how keen I am on the 'social' aspects as I don't do much online multiplayer anymore, and especially in this kind of setting. That said, I'm a long time Trekkie and the idea of virtually being on the bridge of a federation starship is a wet dream come true. Are there any plans to expand into other species, like the Klingons or Romulans?

Really think you should try the multiplayer. VR tends to make people behave better.

If you're only going to play single player, wait for a sale.

Yeah, I was playing this earlier and I'm pleased to say it was an incredible experience. Everybody had mics, all spoke English (despite being across countries) and I had a great time. We also played between PS and PC, and had 3 different types of headsets - no technical issues at all.

I skipped the opening tutorial, but the other players were patient with me and a lot of fun. It works because it is human. You have to laugh. I couldn't switch the shields on at one point as my cat was asleep where the shield button was on the control panel, for example.

Just play my first game. Pretty cool, and everyone was cool also.

Half way through my PS Move started bugging out, and no matter what I did my arms keep pointing to the left lol.

Luckily I was able to switch to the DS4 to complete the mission

Just tried it for the first time - definitely interesting, but the warp bug hit (and has been awful today, apparently.)

Uplay name is GearDraxon as well. Let us boldly go!

So I'm really starting to love the Classic Enterprise more. Just such a good time! I'm hoping for DLC for additional star ships.

Grabbed this today for PS4 but every time I try to play I keep on getting "error code 12" and it will not connect to the servers. Anyone else has this issue and know how to resolve it?

Is there no way to repair the hull?

also I wish I could change the difficulty in ongoing missions. We are able to beat them without losing and it only takes like 15 mins.

the campaign missions are AWESOME.

more like that please.

Nope no way to repair hull. It forces the team to really take care of shields.

yeah I figured, it would be cool if you could beam supplies from abandoned ships for like 10% hull repair, or find a station that can do the same.

just to make it a little more dynamic on choices to make.

TNG missions and PvP next please! THANKS UBI!

I wonder how they'd do the TNG bridge layout, considering the other front station next to the helm was Ops, as Tactical was behind the captain at a standing station. Engineering, when there was someone actually there on the bridge, was relegated to one of the rear console stations facing backwards. Usually they just communicated with the main engineering deck rather than have an officer on the bridge.

That would actually be a pretty neat change actually - engineering being completely on another deck with it's own set of controls to switch between, and can only communicate over comm channels. Might be boring for some though, not being able to see the happenings on fhe bridge. But then they can see the warp core smoke up when things go bad.

Emergency hull repair was never really a thing in Star Trek - they'd reinforce with shields of some kind if possible, but usually just sealed off the bulkheads in that area to isolate the damage. Any sort of hull work had to be done in space dock.

Then again, this game is playing pretty fast and loose with Trek canon - using impulse as a mini-warp is still really bugging me.

Oh i see, Now it makes sense then as our green circle was quite wide. Thanks for the info good sir!

This game has a pretty funny social dynamic, where things are slow and you are socializing a bit waiting for scans to complete or whatever, and then klingons come and things get real tense all of a sudden.

Also was playing a round the other night and someone fell fast asleep, it was a quick match so we were all randoms to each other. Our passed out engineer's avatar looked hilarious as it tried to match its mouth movements to the snoring. Turning around to find out why he wasn't charging the warp coils/trying to wake him up is one of my top 5 funniest gaming moments.

Would love for this game to get some ongoing support, I wonder how it stacks up for sales against other V.R games? Player base feels strong, and the fact that it is on pc & ps4 with crossplay must help.

Nothing but warp bugs tonight. After 3 games in a row having the bug for the first jump, calling it quites. They really need to fix that. First night I played it was flawless all night. Tonight, can't play at all.

Edit: looks like they figured out an issue and trying to get a patch out as soon as possible.

Ok that's good:) didn't get to play yesterday because of uplay being down and the other bug where impulse locks you out of engines as engineer and controls as helm.. :/

Sounds good that they are working on the bug. Hoping it's fixed before my copy arrives, which looks to be tomorrow finally. But if not hopefully the fix comes sooner than later.

If you hit the bug once you have to restart the game. Subsequently attempts will always fail too.

Wanted to play my second session yesterday evening - unfortunately the servers were down.

It seems to be that you need a permanent connection to the servers to play the game at all? I wasn't able to start a sp game. Quite annoying.

Hopefully the servers are more stable tonite. When would people here be up for setting up a formal crew? Just need to know when people are online and such.

Give me some dates and I'll try to set something up along with a discord server and stuff.

Might be a good way to try to get something going for the old Enterprise too.

Yup, tried restarting the game twice and was still getting the bug. Could have been the others I was trying to play with (not restarting), but that's out of my control and still kept me from being able to play.

Really weird that you can't even play offline when the servers are down. I've only played Engineer online so far, and I wanted to use the downtime to practice some of the other roles in some offline on-going missions.

If anyone wants to add me for some online action my PSN is JTROV and my Uplay ID is jtrov2008.

I'm still quite new to everything even though I've done all the training and a handful of missions, so bare with me. Lol

I'm more into joining people occasionally. Don't have the freedom to be dedicated to play at specific times.
