Star Wars: Clone Wars [Wii] interview + Screen

What happened to his head in that screen? Maybe Im looking at it wrong, but it looks like his head stops at his face and his brain is missing :lol

Hey, buddy, you know what Wii gamers want out of a Star Wars based game? Same as what ALL gamers want out of a Star Wars based game.

A GOOD FUCKING STAR WARS GAME.

A Battlefront would be awesome. Also a KOTOR.

Nah, it just looks that way because his head almost matches the color of the rock, and his hair kind of juts up on top.

While we're in "dream on" mode, I'd love another X-Wing/Tie-Fighter, as well as a true successor to Jedi Outcast.

To this day, the Jedi Knight series on the PC remains my favorite brand of Lightsaber-focused mayhem. And unlike the last few console releases, they weren't afraid to sever some limbs!

No, that's not what I meant.

They should only use the engine.

Why? We already have the Force unleased engine for Force Unleased Wii. Why should we have two games, that look the same?

Presumably they are using the same engine as Force Unleashed Wii which would make more sense than trying to down port an engine from 'HD' to Wii.

I want to see the game in motion, Wii games are notorious for having decent at best screenshots (even Mario Galaxy and MP3 had poor screenshots provided to IGN) but in motion the games are phenominal

And so far I actually like the look of the game so as long as it moves smoothly and has a somewhat decent control scheme (no ridiculous waggle, being similar to No More Heroes style of control would easily suffice) I am there Day 1!

Looks decent I guess. I still hate the character designs, but I guess that's not the game's fault.

Well the trailers are coming on tonight, so we'll see. Also seems another topic has popped up with a release saying the game might just be some sort of head to head fighter? Also lots of negativity :lol

The trailer looked pretty good (it was about 17min into the broadcast), it was really short though and did not show much.

Looks a lot like the screenshots, they showed 4-5 battles so I am not sure if its anything more than a fighting game because it did not really look like a platform or action adventure.

The cutscenes and gameplay looked similar so thats a plus I guess.

Wow at that trailer. It looks better than the Wii version of The Forced Unleashed and pretty much any other StarWars console game of the past few years.

That trailer was suprisingly good and the style is perfect for the game.

Am I the only one getting KOTOR vibes from the lightsaber action?

I liked the trailer, it seems they have a LOT of precanned animations for each character, which is good. Not 1:1 good, but good.

It must be depressing in the world you live in where you don't give people the benefit of the doubt.

Krome has hard working people, good tech, and this will be their second Star Wars game. Thats enough of a foundation to provide the opportunity for a great game.

That trailer tho... "This is where the fun begins" & "This should be fun" - I think they need to mention that this is fun some more. Whatever "this" is. Meaningless nitpick of course, I just found it a bit odd.

"That was impressive!"

Uggggh. It's like Lucas himself was in charge of the trailer (he probably was).

Looks nice on the Wii but they really really have to get the lightsabre fighting right or it will ruin the whole game for me. I'll wait for reviews before buying.

Because I think the game looks quite bad. But if other people like it, it's ok.

I like the clean cartoony look.

It's clear that they're trying to replicate the series' (or is it a movie, I haven't kept up) style in the game. It's a license after all.

On the other hand, announcing this one on one fighter/duel game does take the wind out of the Wii exclusive Force Unleashed duel mode a bit. Wii gets two Star Wars lightsaber duel games, PS360 none.

That trailer looked pretty great. For me it's good that they're concentrating solely on the lightsaber duels - we have enough action games already and a SW one coming out this year too.

It captures the feel of the series really well - now that artstyle seems to be a love or hate thing though. Personally, I like it. If you don't you can't really fault the game for it.

edit:
Oh and why do we have two threads going on for this?

I'm sorry, the art style doesn't do much for me. What some call "clean" I see as bland. If the gameplay is as satisfying as, say, that of No More Heroes, I'll still buy it. Begrudgingly.

Asajj nets it a few brownie points.

This is pretty much how every Wii game is, exactly. Nail the controls first and foremost before worrying about whether it's pretty or not.

Isn't there someone from Krome on this board?

Anyways, the trailer looks... not good. The animation is choppy. And it seems like it's going to be "waggle to do this!". I hope I'm wrong.

I want to blieve but i expect this game to be shit...

Call me optimistic but since Lucasarts will be releasing 2 or 3 SW wi games per year, maybe in 2 or 3 years they will release something good... like a good X wing vs Tie Figher game

I think Gazunta is the Krome GAFer, though I'm not sure.

This does look good (graphically), though, but I don't really care about a Star Wars fighting game that much. I think they have a good idea of what they're trying to do, it's just a question of whether or not it'll be any fun, and whether or not I'll give a damn.

They're following the look of the show pretty well. Is this game strictly one on one duels or is their platforming/action to break it up?

Presumably you know people or have worked at Krome yourself.

There seems to be no other reason on earth to feel such optimisim for a company who's best games strive only for the heady heights of mediocrity.

A lightsabre game is the first thing everyone thought of for the Wii and here it is being lumbered with a third rate developer and the most aristically bankrupt Star Wars movie project so far.

I weep for the LucasArts of old.

You can comfortably say this is a world that contains not only the Star Wars Holiday Special, but also two Ewok movies?

I will concede that point.

Sometimes it seems like the original trilogy was made in spite of Lucas, not because of him.

This looks very nice actually. I really like the shading on the characters. From what I see from the trailer the action will be quite quick and hopefully the controls are responsive.

But aren't these the guys (Krome) that just did that terribly underwhelming Hellboy game? (An IP I have always been a fan of) I stopped giving the benefit of the doubt myself based on the fact that these are $50-60 games in a series of games that have been lacking in quality. As a consumer a red flag goes up when I see a developer who isn't known for the greatest of games is developing something like this. I know I don't hold much hope, especially given the past glory of Lucasarts which has gone down in flames over the past 10 years unfortunately. Hard working and good tech doesn't mean squat if you can't give me good game design.

We have enough bad Star Wars games floating around and I am disappointed it is being based on this poorly looking cash in. I can't stand that Cartoon Networkish artwork which looks even worse in CGI.

I was actually hoping the lightsaber fighting and usage would have been more in line with Sega's fantastic arcade game from the late 90's.

Exactly, personal feelings won't make things better. A bad game is a bad game is a bad game and the industry is quite frankly being flooded with them. This isn't Capcom making this, it's.....Krome? ::: SIGH :::

Amen to that....Amen....

Fractals for the win. :D

We've tried to make the lightsaber control as intuitive and fun as possible. It's not a Lightsaber simulator, but when you swing your Wii remote left to right; your character does the same.

Thank you. Thank you for not trying 1:1.

At least now there's hope.

I had no idea their was a clone wars backlash.

Weren't people loving the series when it was on CN?
