Star Wars Outlaws runs "pretty poorly" on the Switch 2 [Update] GWG: "I was wrong"

Well, it actual is close. Sure, it lacks the cpu power, but most games are more gpu bound. We already have seen that cyberpunk has better textures, better iq, better reflections as series s. Which is also a big deal. The same about apex legend having a better iq as series s. Sf6, aside from the texture bug, even with the fix, it still looks better on switch 2.

In other words, games can look better on switch 2. Framerate wise and npc's will stick above switch 2 on series s.

Thats why i put it in between ps4 pro and series s for cpu games.
On the Switch 2, SSR Reflections use "low settings" according to DF's analysis, so should be a match for the 60 FPS mode on the S. The texture quality is the same as the PS5, which should also be a match for the S. The IQ looks better due to DLSS being massively superior to FSR, however from a performance perspective, the S runs at similar settings and resolution at double the framerate in its performance mode. That's what we would expect given the theoretical difference in specs.

The Switch 2 being half as fast as the S is perfectly fine, since it enables 60 FPS games on the S to run at 30 FPS in docked mode, with potentially better image quality due to DLSS.

It's not. Constantly we see Series S dropping the ball on textures while Switch 2 is more similar to the beefier consoles, due to higher VRAM for sure.

Not only thanks to DLSS, also the more ram it has. I mean, lets look at cyberpunk, it has not only better IQ, but also the same textures as ps5 (which is not the case for series s) and reflections

But again, maybe the cpu is half so fast, its gpu that is more important for most games. And when considering the whole package, including dlss and ray tracing like we see here, it's clear that it's a series s lite and that the console fall between ps4 pro & series s. Most games will have better IQ. I'm sure this one will have a better IQ as well. I'm looking forward how it compare side by side with series s while having less cpu. Meaning the impact.

I'm sure you and the other 12 people who bought a PS5 Pro would love to know, but Snoy is going out of the console business way sooner than Nintendo.
Good luck with that idiot.

Edit: the exact moronic thinking of a fanboy I mentioned in another thread. I mean, why the fuck would you even think about or want Sony to stop making PlayStation consoles?

I grew up with Nintendo. The NES and SNES for their time were fairly capable consoles that ran their games splendid on them. What's so wrong with that moron?

Also, I'm pretty sure Sony sold more than 12 PS5 pro's. But you seem to know everything. My apologies, I keep forgetting not to respond to morons.

Idc to troll unlike you who literally is in every single nintendo thread unhinged at the seams just going after everyone. Take a chill pill.

A poor "no you!" reply

As much efforts as the pages and pages of haters going unga bunga with unreleased footage. So you coming this late in the thread when we now have direct capture and calling the last couple of pages of peoples being impressed by it "defenders" is really telling of your character. You're a troll.

So cute you are concerned about haters being oppressed when there's a fucking reason why this thread is 9 pages long. What a stupid take.

First performance analysis. Don't know how accurate that guy is but it seems open world is locked 30 fps. Unexpected

BUT We ARE Not DIsCUSSINg THe GAME!

Mocking Spongebob Squarepants GIF

Not « locked » per se as the guy mentions a dip to 25fps in the cantina-like place but traversal and combat seems stable indeed. But only docked footage

Yea, I was referring more to open world "locked", which I thought for sure would dip way more, it kneecaps Steam deck. Still waiting on DF as they are more detailed in their evaluation.

I have zero interest in this game but this is very encouraging for the potential ports of other current gen 3rd party games. This isn't a Witcher 3 on Switch 1 situation where CDProjekt had to make so many compromises for the game to even run on Switch that it barely looked like the Witcher anymore. This looks like a perfectly competent port with obvious concessions compared to home console versions but the fact a rather demanding modern game like this can run well on Switch 2 is very promising. The hardware is capable, and diminishing returns are real.

Impressive, and this is with youtube compression. On top of that I'm pretty sure DF will have a better capture.

Considering the hardware envelope :

RTGI + DLSS in a game so early in release window is impressive.
Holy shit balls... How is this even possible. Legitimately blown away at everything I have seen from this port.

Another example like cyberpunk where the price is also much cheaper as on steam. Even the base version on steam is priced 70. Not to mention that this version includes all the dlc's , which would be something like 100 on steam? damn...
(aside from those cdkeys and things).

No but the initial report isn't the classic clickbait youtube video channel, so I am surprised they'd put out a video criticizing the port, and then we see several footages of the final build showing it's all right.

I think the version they played at PAX (?) was probably just an earlier build. I know that sounds unlikely given that it was only like a week ago, but remember that the Cyberpunk build they were showing off at the Switch 2 events was six weeks out of date, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo requires their partners to submit builds a few weeks in advance of whenever they're going to be shown.

The game has also already had one patch since the original leaked footage dropped a few days ago, so Ubisoft has clearly been fiddling with it up to the last minute.

Same, it's a tech curiosity for me as I have no interest in the game after looking at the gameplay and reviews.

But to see that little 12 SM ~1GHz GPU punching like that with RTGI and DLSS simultaneously is surprising and good news for portability prospects of current gen games.

Oh apparently there's a patch coming in tomorrow to smooth performances even more.

It's also worth noting that this early look does not include the planned day one patch which comes out tomorrow, which Ubisoft says will address some of the performance issues that I've experience in this video.

Wow. Ubisoft RedLynx is quite good for ports. Give them AC shadows next.

This still looks bad to me. But some of that is the fault of the game, even on PC. Weird seeing "some" people so okay with 30 fps all of a sudden though.

What's weird to me is so many console players crying for 30 fps after all these years they claiming it was good enough and whatnot. Now all of a sudden 30 fps is bad for them (it is for me, btw, but consoles are just that)
