Star Wars: Rogue One Story Trailer

I know I shouldn't be able to tell from a 2 minute trailer but the characters look to be much more fleshed out then Gareth's previous outing which is good. No question the guy knows how to work a camera too. Some of those shots look beautiful. I'm also really excited for two things; what looks to be battles in completely new locales for the Star Wars movie-verse (enough sand dunes already!) and Vader, you just know he's going to fuck someones shit up

also getting suicide mission vibes from this

I bet everyone dies or something

Got goosebumps when the X-Wings engine sound was spooling up in the one shot

I haven't figured out what IP Man is but it's safe to assume he's FS, right? At very least

No, Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) is not Force sensitive, but he worships the Force. He's a blind monk who just trained really hard to get to the point that he's at.

There's speculation that he's a member of the Church of the Force, which Lor San Tekka (Max von Sydow in TFA) was also a member of. That was a religious order of people who weren't Force sensitive but kept their faith in the Force during the Imperial period, believing that the Jedi would return.

METAL GEAR: STAR WARS.

Nah, that was the canon Obi-Wan & Anakin prequel era comic.

What are the odds that we get any acknowledgment of the Geonosians' involvement in the Death Star?

Well the genocide and shift to Scarif already happened at least 3 years before ANH going by what they revealed in Rebels, so there's no particular reason it would come up. But then again we're getting Saw Gerrera so hey anything can happen.

edit: Actually, it would be really cool if
the reason Galen defects is because of the Geonosian extermination causing him to realize the horror of the Empire.

If it is ever a relevant point to bring up then pretty decent, forest whitaker's characters is the grown version of a character from the CG clone wars series so they're definitely fully willing to acknowledge those events happened.

YESSSSS. A
flashback to the genocide and his reaction to it would be INCREDIBLE.

I know that. If I had made the film I would have attempted to further bring the camp, stop motion and matte paintings back.

Maybe one day I'll be able to make a Star Wars film. I can dream.

[Edit: Also for Ep 1-3. They looked nothing like I imagined when I was kid and hearing about the "Old Republic" as spoken by Obi-Wan in his hut.]

That seems like an unreasonable thing to do in this day and age.

Can the DS destroy a planet in this movie? Or will it fuck with canon? Cause it looks like a planet gets blown up.

In the old EU they did a test firing on the planet Despayre, which was where it was constructed (rather than Geonosis or Scarif as in the new canon), so it wouldn't be unprecedented. Tarkin's line in ANH was "I have chosen to test this station's destructive power on your home planet of Alderaan", which kind of implies it's the first time it was used but it's vague enough that it could just mean it's the first time he's personally gotten to test it, or the first time they're testing it in the field rather than during construction.

Despayre.

Despayre.

Goddamn Star Wars names man. lol

Still simultaneously the best and worst concept art of all time.

Somewhat related, I'd like to see lightsabers used to their full potential in these movies. Like put a few on a podracer, like a sci-fi scythed chariot.
Be glad I'm not in charge of Disney.

Put 'em on elbows and knees while we're at it.

I want Vader to be terrifying and powerful, but not too powerful. If you look at just the OT, he kept the jumping and the power moves to a real minimum. It really was just a good old lightsaber fight. If he does anything more than that when he's jobbing rebels in this, I'll be somewhat disappointed.

Still slightly concerned about this one considering everything that's gone down, but that trailer was dope.

Please prove me wrong Gareth Edwards, all will be forgiven for Godzilla.

Nah. There's literally no chance he doesn't cut the rebels to pieces in the end.

Pretty sure that at least a couple of these guys will make it out alive. It was implied that their battle was a victory in the ANH opening crawl. Though it only specifically mentioned spaceships. Still, I doubt the movie would end on such a downer for the heroes.

The victory is in getting the plans to Leia, not surviving.

Something that I REALLY love about Rogue One is what we're finally gonna see where normal people live in the Star Wars universe. The only real city that we've seen is Coruscant but that didn't give you a sense of where the normal joe lives. We'll really see what it feels like for the Empire to be oppressing people.

This whole thing just looks beautiful and so interesting.

Not a fan of Edwards. Bet he teases the Death Star constantly before cutting away to a small hologram just before it fires.

Also I've seen enough Star Wars prequels to last me a lifetime.

If you want a good idea of how Vader would fight in modern media that is canon, take a look at this video.

He could kill from literally miles away. He had long-range telepathy. He could dissipate blaster shots without a lightsaber. (Fuck that stupid old-EU armor shit.) And that's just what we saw onscreen in the OT.

I'm not sure why but I just can't get hyped for this one. There are some beautiful looking shots in this trailer but in terms of dialogue the whole thing seems clunky.

Final movie may be fantastic but none of the trailers so far have blown me away
