Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

I don't understand how everyone is ignorant or forgot that they saved the galaxy. It's all stories and myth now, even the jedi? Not buying it
There were only five Force users during the OT (that we know of). Two of them were in hiding, one was only active for a brief period. The Emperor was an enigma. Vader was probably notorious, but not because he was a fiend with the Force.

And it's not just myth. A lot of people in the Republic probably know about it, or have heard the stories, but the only dude who can actually claim to be a Jedi is AWOL. People like Rey living out in the sticks have only heard hearsay from stuff that happened lightyears away, decades ago. Not that much of a leap.

Goddamn.

My fiancee didn't even watch the trailer the first time I saw it. She just watched me. Said I was like a goddamn 5 year old at Christmas.

So we had to watch it a second time. Not that I'm complaining.

oh of course. To be real, if you weren't on one of the handful of planets that saw conflict between rebels and imperials, much less the actual presence of a Jedi *in action*, it'd sound like bullshit. Period.

Only those from The Old Republic would have been used to the presence of the Jedi and other masters of The Force.

And lets be real. Who knows anything about the Sith or Dark Jedi in ANH? WE know about Jedi but it's not hard to believe most of these people have no clue.

Looking forward to seeing Luke near the end of the film as the force sensitive character goes on a journey by herself/himself.
Hoping Chewy/Han dying means Rey goes away for a movie and comes back at the end of the second one. Looks like she will struggle with her dark side.

wtf are you typing spoilers? Fucking ***

It was one battle in an ongoing war. Also the whole story with darth/luke was probably only known among a handful of people. Majority of people still think it's all faerie tales.

Guess it makes sense but I seem to remember them winning the war after episode 6. Big armada fights, no more emperor, no more vader, game over, let's polish up C3P0 because we've got nothing else to do.

i love how he looks legit scared when the bad guy takes out the red lightsaber.

From the trailers it looks like Finn is getting thrown into the life, while Darth Vader junior has been striving towards it. I am guessing he beats Finn down and Luke shows up to save him.

In the trailer when Han Solo says The Dark side, they show Poe on screen, then during the Jedi, the camera moves to Boyega. I feel like they're going to their respective ways here. Poe is going to turn.

Honestly leaning this way too

Spoilers.

Seriously.

Don't read if you don't want to know, but the latest rumor has it as
Rey was abandoned by her parents and is found by Luke. Luke senses the force in her and takes her in to train. Kylo is Han and Leia's son and is training with them.

The Knights of Ren attack the new jedi temple and Luke chooses to protect Rey over his own blood, Kylo, and Kylo is taken by the knights. They train him and he grows up wanting revenge on Luke.

This trailer 100% proves that wrong.

How's he trolling?

I really hope she's a big part of the movie. Can't wait to hear how they do her voice.

The Disney store has her helmet with voice changer.. presumably something like that. There's a Kylo Ren one too for comparison now that we finally hear his voice in this trailer.

Holy FUCK.

Look at the X-Wings skimming the water surface in the shot around 1:27 with the Stormtroopers taking aim... holy fuck man

That look that Finn gives him after the pat on the back makes me think this, too

Duddee. It's been way more than 30 years. When Luke finds out he might be a Jedi, Jedi were already almost forgotten. Frickin obi-wan and Yoda are just 1 of a few left. So at this point, the junk about Luke could very much be exaggerated.

On top of that all of his guys look unique...

That is an extremely great point. The viewer got to see Yoda and such, not most of the galaxy. They were already on their way out long before this film.

How can they forget the Jedi and Force existed 30 years ago?

More like 50. No one was left alive who saw Luke and Vader fight and pretty much any stormtrooper who saw Vader and Ben fight were blown up on the first Death Star. It looks like Leia never trained in the force. That leaves the Clone Wars.

Now what if your grandparents told you stories about beings who had superpowers and helped save the galaxy back in 1935. Only there were just a few dozen of them so seeing them in action was super rare.

Would you believe them? Would you see how over time it could be dismissed as just legend and myth?

Welp, never coming in any SW thread on GAF any more. Han/Chewy dying, Luke's daughter...thanks a lot, guys.

He's gonna become Edgar Allan Poe.

Kylo sounds 100x better in the trailer than he did from the toys, I was a bit worried honestly

It worked for me at first as well, but the more I was watching his stuff, the more it was wearing thin. I was hoping he'd do some reinvention on his formula for this, but it doesn't seem like it. I'm more annoyed by that than anything though, as I always feel his movies are just on the cusp of greatness, but never quite reach it. I feel he's capable of it, but somehow always miss it.

I know, I know... but the shot composition and the way people are framed, and the way they express their emotion, feels way too familiar and similar to his other stuff.

Someone who has continually associated himself with known hacks like Orci and Kurtzman doesn't really care about "greatness." So no, I don't think Abrams has it in him. He'll keep on cranking out his moderately enjoyable if not particularly interesting blockbusters and that'll be it.

the less that happened in that trailer, the better it was.

the design in the slow establishing shots and general lack of JJ wacky cam wankery (lens flares excepted) was stirring and wonderful and then they had to start talking. the foreboding callback was like some anime bollocks "yes those things were true, those things all happened" and makes me fear that every narrative facet of the OT is going to be dug back up to keep the reddit threads cooking.

still, booked up for midnight.

I think I'm just not on the Star Wars hype after the last 3 shitty movies - the only movie I actually like is Empire.

Just thought the trailer was okay.

Wow. Shit. This is gonna be the best Star Wars movie yet, isn't it?

I know trailers can be deceiving, but I totally get whats happening here and I am thrilled. It's a great direction to take the saga.

Empire is gonna be hard to topple, but I can see take the second place.

Luke obviously isn't along for the action, but HAN is. And why does the empire still exist? I thought they beated the empire?

The Empire consisted of hundreds, if not thousands of planets, in its heyday. I could imagine not all of them were able to be liberated by the Rebel Alliance. And maybe some surviving Imperial commanders slowly rebuilt their forces over the years and took back some of the planets they lost.
