Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

Damn, I just stumbled on a Periscope stream with 120+ people watching ROTS. Yoda vs. Palpatine is getting flooded with hearts.

EDIT: Oh this is some actor's Periscope, lol. Josh Robert Thomspon.

Has the "it's like poetry"-comment limit been reached already? Seems like every 2 pages someone thinks it's super clever to post it again.

I think this comment may have gone too far in a few places.

I like that scene! It was probably unnecessary, but it was neat to watch. I'm one of those people who thinks it perfectly fine that Sith use lightsabers and that Yoda and Palpatine had one though. I still think it's great we got to see Yoda do his Jedi thing.

If the shoe fits, breh.

People give all sorts of critical cranks attention, from the solipsistic rambling of Pauline Kael, to personality-less dullards like A.O. Scott and Michael Phillips, to hacks like Leonard Maltin and Gene Shalit. Plinkett, at least, has a sense of humor, comes at film from a slightly different perspective than most (namely, a background in production), and is willing to back up his points with direct audiovisual evidence, rather than just vague platitudes. The RLM guys aren't good critics, merely entertaining appreciators, but I'd recommend them before I'd recommend most professional critics.

Plinkett is good, unfortunately Stoklasa has turned into a really bland, disinterested and pointless reviewer as himself on Half in the Bag.

I'm sure some of the newspaper reviewers could make entertaining video reviews too if they made use of in reality copyrighted material and were given reigns to do really in-depth walkthroughs. I mean that is, in a way, what Bordwell and Thompson do except with screens... and no bits.

I don't think A.O. Scott is a dullard or that you should put him and Phillips in the same category, though. Scott and Manohla Dargis (arguably superior to him) conversations are always really good. And his opinion pieces create conversation.

Every 2 pages, huh? You could almost say... it's like poetry. It rhymes.

Hey guys.
Guys.
GUYS.

I have a crazy theory that could blow your fragile minds. What if... what if... WHAT IF, and I'm just throwing this out there... What if Kylo Ren was Luke?

Like it makes perfect sense, and it would work brilliantly in every possible way. They basically confirmed it by not showing Luke at all.

Before your post, the word poetry has only been used 19 times in this entire thread (ignoring the times it shows up in a quote), it's just a fun little joke used by hack frauds like myself and nowhere near as pervasive as you seem to believe. Though I don't think you're being entirely serious.

We got to see Yoda do his "Jedi thing" in ESB. What he does in the prequels is just stupid-looking crap.

Oh my god, that would be awesome! They haven't shown Kylo Ren without his mask so this is totally possible!

I AM NOT BEING SERIOUS!

Unrelated; but this was a great shot in the teasers;

I hope they don't save it untill the end of the movie.

He is, its already confirmed by Adam Diver, a guy who plays a Gungan-Knight of Ren.

So they're just pretending they've hired Adam Driver?

So they're just pretending they've hired Adam Driver?

That moment when Kylo Ren by some miracle is Luke and we all eat crow.
I was convincing a friend that Kylo is Luke yesterday, and this was all an elaborate MGS2 style disinformation campaign.

He said "JJ isn't Kojima".

And I said no, but JJ tried to be in ST Into Darkness with the whole failed "its not Khan... Ok it's Khan" switcheroo... So the concept has been proven to be on his mind, and now he wants to get it right!

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not (can't really tell, sorry) but no, Finn is Finn, an individual, normal person, not a clone.

The clones were continuously replaced with normal recruits after the PT, iirc.

Aha, I'm just being sarcastic (should have added a smiley). I believe munchie64 is, too, in reaction to Kitsuné's comment about people repeating the same comments all the time.

Man, that retcon is just so terrible, LOL.
What's the retcon?

That the order of stormtroopers were made to have been started as clones at all? (Because that does still irk me.. Screw the prequels Lol)

Because the moment the clones were introduced, no one implied that stormtroopers were still clones in the OT. Pretty sure there were sources all along that implied they had been replaced by recruits over time.

Case in point, the 2004 Star Wars DVD dubbed over Boba Fett with Temura Morrison's voice, but not the stormtroopers. That's a pretty clearly confirmation even Lucas never thought OT stormtroopers were clones.

The retcon that was required by stormtroopers being clones in their inception. No one during the OT thought stormtroopers were clones.

Ugh. I love how people talk about Lucas's rights as an artist but never the people he screws over with his edits.

Well ... then i did not post anything. :)
Move on, nothing to see here!

The clones also had an accelerated aging progress, so they were never intended for a military long-term solution.

Oh.. Then we're on the same page. :)

I just realized, between the prequels and MGS, the first real-world clone, Dolly the sheep, displayed accelerated aging and really informed pop culture about clones.

The accelerated aging of the Clone Troopers is actually a feature, not a limitation. Boba for example ages normally and was created because Jango wanted a son or whatever.

The Stormtroopers aren't clones though The last two episodes of Rebels drove the point home further. I've only watched the episodes once, but I believe they say that the clone troopers were retired shortly after the war.

Seems like most people in this thread that were talking about the subject get that.

Though, many other people out there are still confused about this to the point that they found it confusing that Finn was black :P

Yeah, I just re-read. I missed the joke about the retcon and just caught the last few posts.

Yup, the accelerated aging was put in so the Republic wouldn't have to wait 20 years before getting an usable army. IIRC the aging also worked pretty limited, once they reached physical adulthood, they'd stop aging at an accelerated rate andstarted to age normally.

Watched the first half of ROTS last night and the one thing that struck me now is McDiarmid's reaction and composure during the rescue mission. It's funny as hell. It's like he got the direction to remain as calm and composed as possible, and not show emotion at all. Even when he just swung through an elevator shaft, you see nothing on that face man.

Windu's death and the Sidious reveal is like pure comedy. I still think epIII is the best prequel, but it still has a lot of cringeworthy stuff.

Of course Stormtroopers aren't clones. Dudes were sniping jedis back in the day but now can't hit something as big as Chewie? C'mon now.

Oh man, you should watch the last Rebels episode. Dudes in AT-ATs couldn't blow up a stationary tank sitting right at their feet.

I played the Battlefront beta, it's easy.
