well i guess im playing this. never played terraria so this'll be interesting coming from only minecraft. going to go with humans because their ship is the coolest looking. (although the avian pyramid ship is pretty sweet)

Also note, there's no way to store/bank pixels, was mentioned in the Wanderlust stream.
A little disppointing, but at least it makes you a little bit careful. If you've played dark/demon souls, you'll probably be used to it.
I believe Tiy said on a stream theres no way to store your pixels in a chest somewhere like Terraria either. *edit* nm HaRyu already covered that
What I'm curious about is trading. Will it let us trade pixels to friends? Eventually getting to the point where you can make a "bank" type character holding the majority of your funds in case you die. It would require a friend yea, but I wonder if that works.

Actually, for the OT, I was going to go with "Starbound |OT| Boundless", but the trailer has a really nice tagline so I was thinking "Starbound |OT| The Universe is Waiting." I still like the first one best, honestly.
As mentioned already, that's the temperature gauge. The devs said that it's almost universally misunderstood amongst streamers so they're going to have a different icon for it, especially since they want to incorporate being too hot as well as too cold (for, I assume, desert and lava planets).
You can totally play alone.
There is a hunger and water one too right? This is the real dayz standalone
No water meter that I know of, just temperature and hunger.
Most of it is probably just uncompressed (& leftover) assets
Whoa, here I am on Steam messing around waiting for my key and found that Darkout releases today. Think of it as Terraria with 3D graphics, in space... Looks interesting. It wont take time away from my waifu, Starbound, but I may look into it in the future. Also...

Is the OT going up today?
Personally I like "The Universe is Waiting". Sound like a line from a Star Trek episode or something, just encapsulates the whole tone and vibe of the game better IMO.

Talk about poor timing. I like the atmosphere of Darkout but really everything I've seen and read about Starbound blows it away with an orbital laser

God, I'm going crazy. So close.
Official threads go up no more than 7 days before the game launches. Since this isn't an official launch but a Beta, it kind of has to wait. I also want to wait until a few of us have played it so we have some actual data to incorporate into the OT.
If the beta cycle ends up going by fast and launch sort of just pops up on us, then a mod could probably just change this thread's title and it would become the de facto OT. That might just be what happens.
They are procedurally as well, yes.
I'd say wait. Darkout & Edge of space is constantly getting core updates. As it stands now it's almost pointless to start a long term game due to the changes and additions to the game.
As a owner of both, I can't recommend them yet. Edge of space is getting there though and the ideas they have for long term (story etc) seems pretty cool so might be awesome down the line.

Thanks guys. I was expecting to be disappointed by lack of any death penalty, but this seems like good enough to me
The developers have said that pixels become extremely important later in the game, so losing 30% of them can be pretty rough.
I do kind of hope they have some kind of bank for pixels, but that it's limited so you can't just dump everything in there before doing something dangerous.
