I think I was Silver in Beta -> Bronze on release and then quickly worked my way up to Platinum. When season two (?) started I got placed in Diamond and I haven't laddered since.

I think if I started again and kept being Protoss I'd land back in Platinum.

First Gaf Night post the new thread and what an important post this is. We are ONE WEEK away from our anniversary. Very exciting, I know. Anything special planned? Probably not. Because Gaf Nights are always fun and we don't need to do much to make it interesting. It's still finals for the college crowd so Gaf Night may be inconvenient for some. You said you're dealing with Gold opponents, right? I'm asking because the 2 rax harass is only effective against Zergs who fast expands. The build order doesn't put you behind either way so it's good to learn. I can't teach you it, but Panda or Keikaku definitely can.

depends on how you wanna work it, or more importantly what your opponent does. if you are scouting and noticed an early expand you might want to think about throwing down a bunker and getting that second rax a little earlier and trying to put some pressure on. This will require and early scout to be feasible for max effectivness. If your opponent is staying on one base for awhile then you can power off the 2 rax, throw down a bunker or 2 outside your expand and prepare to hold.

This is, of course, coming from the infinite pool of SC2 wisdom that I posses, but that's how i tended to play it whilst terraning

If you want to learn an early expand build, it would be a 1 rax expand. That I could teach. 2 rax is flexible because behind your harass you are usually expanding. So you can still expand with 2 rax, you just won't be able to stabilize your economy as fast as a 1 rax expand. A general rule of thumb is to expand behind a push. The idea is that your opponent will be busy defending your push leaving you to expand without worry. So a 2 rax expand, you're being aggressive. A 1 rax expand you're being defensive making bunkers and marines to fend off any harass. Definitely try both build orders so you can feel the difference.

yup. you can use your bunker money to build yoself a free refinery and not have to worry about possibly interrupting a marine, scv, etc cycle, but it is more satisfying to yell "FALL BACK TO THE KEEP" as your being overrun if you have some bunkers to go back to
