You don't have to get close or even do 10 different hits; if you find an automatic gun with a silencer on it, you can just sneak attack someone several times in one go, as long as the sneak bar doesn't say "danger", they haven't detected you yet and any hit still counts as a sneak attacks.
I've done that a lot. Have silenced weapons. I'm still at 2/10 sneak attacks at like 30 hrs. I'll try it again. I moved it to easy also and will see what that feels like for a bit than go back to normal probably. I'm not dying but I'm playing run and gun the whole time when I would prefer stealth more.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
My only complaint left is that for some reason I cannot sneak up on literally anyone, ever. And everyone's awareness is too high. I can just walk into a room crouched sometimes and enemies will instantly see me and start firing when they're so far away they look like a spec and I barely can even see them. Sounds like I need some better gear because I cant even get 10 sneak attacks to start leveling up this skill path. I'd also probably prefer if the enemies had a tiny bit less health just for fun. Not sure if that can be adjusted at all on consoles.

Have you got the stealth skill? It doesn't work at all otherwise

Yes, Ass of Can Whooping Ass of Can Whooping is right. You won't get the Stealth bar or the "Hidden/Detected" thing until you unlock the first tier of the stealth perk.

He mentioned needing the 10 hits to level it up, so that means he has it.
Ah, missed it.

The last big combat mission I played was the Mantis one and I was able to sneak into some of the areas without blowing my cover but I don't have any other stealth skills so inevitably after 10 seconds, it would devolve into a gun fight.

Lighting engine is excellent a lot of the time:

Make sure you aren't a NOT close range. You have to be somewhat mid range in order for it to count. I had same issue as you are describing except I figured it out around the 16 hour mark.

Also, I've tried to do a side quest entirely stealth and I am afraid it's not possible. Because there are some rooms with 4 to 6 guys + turrets and the objective you need to take, steal, hack or kill is in that 1 room. Even if you shoot someone from a perfect angle in a different room and you manage to stay hidden, they all start running like ants and you have to wait forever for the meter to go back into hidden when it's on caution. Another issue is, even if it's 2.2x more damage in Sneak Mode, 1 shot isn't always guaranteed. Now I am not fully ranked in all my perks and I mainly use the pistol perk. Maybe with a hunting rifle with a scope and a suppressor it might be possible. But I haven't gotten that far yet.

Is there no way to attract or bait a individual guard and trick them to follow you into a room?

I don't even give a shit, this is easily my GOTY. I just can't get enough.

People acting like a next-gen Fallout meets Mass Effect is somehow a bad thing? Get the fuck outta here!

I may also feel this way because massive endless open worlds with tons of traversal has never been my thing. The fact that I'm fast travelling and moving from planet to planet/mission to mission much more quickly fits right into my playstyle.

I'll try it. Someone earlier in the thread also mentioned a huge stealth item that will certainly help. I dont want to know where it is though. If I do find it, it may be a total gamechanger.

Yep game clicked to me on my 3rd day. 12 hours in, barely progressed the main mission. Game looks really good at max settings and im enjoying the side quests a lot. Once you figure out how the fast travel/questing system and inventory stuff works its awesome. Also the game feels really polished and not by just bethesda standards

I think he just means a modification on gear, I have several of them and they were just random drops; it's called chameleon, if you have the right skills you can probably modify your own gear with it.

Gonna give it a week and wait for the new car smell to wear of before I call it, but I'm on the same page just now.

I only played 10 hrs of BG3 and put it on the back burner until im done with this. So its between Starfield and TOTK for me personally.

Absolutely loving my time with it so far. My friend circle is also getting down on it too. It was cool we were in party chat for a good several hours yesterday and our experiences were all quite divergent and unique. Its also really impressive for a Bethesda game and that's saying something. The polish and visual fidelity and quality throughout is very impressive. I've also been enjoying the dialogue and VA.

I agree with the Stealth sentiment, I spec'd into it and yeah its difficult to get the drop. I'm thinking gear, weight and movement speed factor into it, along with enemy vision and distance. Managed to upgrade it though, sneak attacks do some serious dmg and with a silenced repeating weapon followup shots can ensure a takedown. Nice reactions too for fights, hitting a foe in the chest with a shotty and seeing them drop their gun and clutch their chest is quite nice. I haven't had many issues either with the AI. They take cover, use the environment, flee when outnumbered. Also sound design is pretty swell as well. I like on New Atlantis at night the sound of the frogs in the MAST area. Also Boost Packs rule, especially on low grav worlds/moons.

The game is everything I wanted and expected and then some.

Its still a bit early obviously but this is also probably my GOTY. Not that it even matters. I'm thinking I may just get stupid with this game and play it for the rest of the year. Last time I felt this was Morrowind 21 years ago so these dont come along very often. We'll see how long I am hooked before wanting to move on.

How do I buy the fuel? Guide told me to go to a technician, and click modify ship, but there's no store on the right like in the image below?

I have a crush on TOTK so that’ll be difficult to beat for me. Things do advance through the main quest though so we’ll see, definitely loving my time with it so far, and I haven’t even started the building mechanics yet.

Such a contrast in here with people who are actually playing it. Not saying its perfect but still.
Bethesda will never make a masterpiece perfect game. But no one else does rpg open world sandbox like they do.

Now that I'm more familiar with most of the systems and have better guns I'm loving it.

Hundreds of mods already in the Nexus. The potential for custom content in this game is insane.

Bit jarring when you first start and realize what this game isn't, but what it is, i love, warts n all. I've not touched base building, only unlocked a handful of perks, just started researching stuff, modding weapons etc etc. I'll be playing this for a very long time.

I remember a reading a review, I forget where, saying "it was a galaxy wide and an inch deep". Nothing could be further from my experience so far.

Game would be milions time better with alternate start mod somewhere like mars , neon ,etc . New atlantis honestly both overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time as a start city .

If you're not playing on headphones or a nice speaker set up you're really missing a lot. The OST is minimal and ambient but it is so damn good the entire time. Just sitting in space on pause and the soundscape is sick as hell.
The way the main theme sneaks in all the time never gets old. My brain is humming those six notes every time I have to do something else other than playing the damn game.

Does anyone else have the Dream House perk? I can't complete it because the banker keeps giving me missions and does not have an option to discuss the mortgage. The house looks cool enough but definitely a perk for new game plus if you get to select new backgrounds and perks.
