Starfox 64 = best one liners ever

"Your father saved me like that once, too"

"Cocky little freaks" pops up in my mind randomly sometimes for some reason... it has for years

Like seriousely, name something the original had over 64?

cause I can't think of a single thing. 64 was an improvement in almost everyway.

Difficulty. Though as a weaksauce gamer Star Fox 64 was thus more enjoyable to me. Many say the music, but I never played the old one enough to fall in love with it.

64 was all about getting the various medals and secrets. That's where the challenge was.

SF64 was awesome. I remember thinking the Rumble Pak was the stupidest gimmick ever, but when I tried it it was awesome. Now all controllers have vibrate feedback.

The promotional tape sent out by Nintendo Power was the funniest thing EVER. A Sega and Sony guy go to Nintendo's campus and torture Mario to get information on Star Fox 64. Hilarious.

Thanks for making this topic and reminding me of that promo video. Next time I'm back at my parents' house I'm gonna dig it up and try to digitize it.

I totally adore SF64, getting all the medals was pretty challenging too. The tank missions absolutely rocked.

I have my doubts about the new game though. Free roaming sucks.

'Kat?!?!'

'Is that anyway to treat a lady'

And the best, no one has mentioned ... Bill!!!

'Enemy Mothership approaching!'

In that surfer voice. Awesomeness. :lol

MY EMPEROR...I'VE FAILED YOU
:lol That's the one I was going to post. I can't tell you how many times a friend of mine and I went around screaming that in situations where we failed at something.

Yep, Lylat Wars was a lovely game. The lava levels and the levels in which you had to ride on land were intense!

"Gee, I've been saved by Fox! How swell!"

:lol

"This baby can take temperatures up to 9000 degrees!"

Starfox 64 is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

-Slippy having a deep, throaty voice befitting of a frog, rather than a high pitched whiny girl voice

-the awesome space armada level, flying INSIDE the battle cruisers to take out there core and flying out as it explodes all around you.

But other than those things, yeah, Starfox 64 was much better. Star Wolf team was awesome, great voice acting (other than Slippy), charged shots, etc

I re-hooked my N64 just to remember it and I was surprised. Even though I am playing the PAL version the game isn't choppy and it plays and feels very good. It was just as I remembered it. I stopped playing when I was at Macbeth after following the Aquas route. Replay it and enjoy this jem :) .

The first level reflections on water, the cool particle effects on Aquas or the waves in the Toxic Planet...So awesome !

Since I got a topic on it going, someone tell me what the hell I get for getting all the medals. I've only been able to get a medal in the first level so far. What does it unlock for getting them all?

Doesn't it unlock a harder mode or something?!

I loved the hard tank level, the one where you need to stop the train. The thing I loved most was the flying mud from the tracks. It looked soo good to see it break apart in different pieces and such.

I hope they put it on a bonus disc with SFA as well, only with a 60 FPS framerate :)

I keep seeing that being emphasized so i feel that i should mention that it was only called Lylat Wars in Europe, due to some licensing issues i believe with the Starfox name.

If you ge them all you unlock the extreme difficulty and fox has sunglasses like his father. And when you get all the medals in extreme you unlock the foot mode in multiplayer, which in all honesty is shit but its nice to fully complete the game.

I believe that there used to be an english company by the name of starvox which wouldnt let nintendo call the game starfox because it sounded too similar. That company does not exist any more though.

That tape had a huge influence on me. I had to get ahold of one of those Mario dolls, whicih I did... and since then have obtained dozens of other Mario licensed items. Many of which were featured in a previous animated GIF avatar that ended with my stupefied face.

Actually, here it is. It's on the mid left of one frame. No hat unfortunately.

I'd like to take a moment and point out that this is the first thread on this forum in quite some time that hasn't had any hate. At least, to my knowledge.

And there is already a game named Starfox (it is ancient, however)

Really? What system was it for and can you find any screenshots? Im guessing it was only released in europe then.

I can't believe no one posted the best one.

"Step on the gas!"
"Step on the gas!"
"... NO!! HIT THE BRAKES!!!!"
(boom boom boom boom boom boom)
"I can't STOP IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTT"
(boom boom......... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM)

Star Fox 64 was such an awesome game. I really wish Nintendo would have done an all-out sequel for the Cube, the Namco-Nintendo one is a bit late but hopefully it will be good.

Boss: I'm no match for you! I admit defeat.
Falco: Are you going to listen to that monkey?
Boss: Haha. You're not as STUPID as you look!

Stick to the pond, Froggy!

I'll do you fast, Peppy old pal!

Never give up! Trust your instincts!

-----------

On a side note: I will be furious if the new Starfox is ruined...

The level designs in Stafox 64 were amazing. Creative, destructive, beautiful. The bosses were wonderful as well.

Lava, water, train, plenty of star-destroyer-styled space ships, asteroids, desert, city, Independence Day, satellite, missles, etc.

The only thing I wanted was a large world with huge skyscrapers; a chasing level, perhaps.

Great site, Wyzdom

If I recall, Peppy and Slippy get a little kinky when you're in the sub. I can't remember what they say though....

Oh and the "Gyaaaaaaaaaah" I still use. In that raspy voice. Can't be beat.
