Starfox 64 = best one liners ever

Didn't someone mention that the last playable demo of Starfox Assault had all the character voices done by the developer team all doing their lamest impressions of the characters? :)

I never got the good ending. Where did James McCloud come from? What was he doing all that time? Was he just chilling out in his plane in Andross' evil lair waiting for the day that Fox would come?

It's open to interpretation, I guess.

Btw, anyone else beaten James' Arwing out of Venom? :)

I was thinking, the bond between Fox and James was more than just physical.

Something like, the Force in Star Wars...

And yeah, Independence Day = the level with Bill.

What a great game...

Nope, never beat James out of Venom. Is it possible?

Deep.

I love the cutscene when you successfully do the bonus obective in the train level, where that train rams into the building and there's that HUGE explosion. It's like the best use of the rumble pak ever.

If I recall, Peppy and Slippy get a little kinky when you're in the sub. I can't remember what they say though....

Oh and the "Gyaaaaaaaaaah" I still use. In that raspy voice. Can't be beat.

Peppy: 'Slippy, your the best!'

Falco: 'This thing will never hold together!'

I think it was something like James's spirit guiding him out. Like what LordPhlegm suggested in a Ben Kenobi "May the Force be with you... always" type of way.

i still have this game around somewhere.

There were two Venom (I/II). II was the Star Wolf battle. I was a regular level.

Some of the stages were awesome. McBeth (train stage were you shoot 7 switches to derailed the fucker "NOoooooooooo!!!!!!". Bolse defense station. Area 6 is the coolest flying level.

Fun game. I opened up the hard mode by getting medals in all stages. The toughest medal was the stage where you need to shoot down the missiles that target Great fox. Equally, Titania (tank stage) was difficult to get a medal too.

Yeah, it wasn't James, James is dead. It's just his ghost or something like that.

Ah ... but then again I thought that too ... but when the final cut scene comes and Star Fox is jetting out of the tunnel ... it shows TWO ships getting out of the tunnel as it explodes at the end of the game. Hmm .. makes you think. :)

I'm just remembering how awesome this game really was. I wonder if it still holds up today? I really loved it, everytime I read a quote here I hear the actual voice in my head :lol

"I'm comin' fooor yaaaaaaa" hahaha, good times.

My fav. level was the one with that toxic planet or whatever, and you had to bomb the hell out of the boss (so fun!). Macbeth is probably the greatest level, though I played it too many times. Then there's that one on the way to Venom (not yet on the planet), with waves and waves of enemies, anyone remember?

Ah yeah I know, I always figured he was just dead, and it was a ghost or some illusion in Fox's head. I mean, where does he just go off too afterwards?

But yeah, you're right, we'll never know. Really cool either way.

Area 6. Awesome stages.

Yeah I just got the game and an N64 again right around Thanksigiving. It only takes like an hour to beat the entire game really - not counting trying for medals and stuff. But it holds up very well. I actually like the style of the graphics and everything too - honestly I think some of GC's games sequels are missing something that the N64 versions had. I really liked the N64 controller too, and I could tell right when i played this game again how easy and stuff it was to control. I know many people didn't like it, but the N64 controller was good on games like this - my favorite console controller ever.

Though one thing, I can always beat the normal mode without loosing a single life. The hard mode I beat one once or twice,.thats because for every hit you take, it damages like 3 times the ammount on normal. So two or three shots destroy a wing and it was difficult to shoot, and fly as the Arwing will constantly dragged it corpse down.

I played SF64 to death. Got all gold medals and everything. I liked how you had to fly through or trigger certain things to make more enemies come out. IIRC, if you didn't, you wouldn't be able to get enough kills to meet the requirement for the medals. Or maybe I was just going for a high score, whereas getting the medals was a little more forgiving. Also, bonus points for killing a group with charged shot.

I'd say the original Star Fox, as someone mentioned earlier, had better music and had more of a epic and darker feel to it. And the difficulty level was higher on it too. Probably partly due to the choppiness of it. Remember the stage with all the floating beams flying everywhere, and Venom with the crazy beams thrown in front of you.

Bah, now I have to hook up my N64 again.

Awesome thread.

I hope the voice actors for Star Fox Assault are the same or very similar to the voices from Star Fox 64. Particually Falco. I've always loved his character because of his pissed off sarcastic nature. Much like Raphael from TMNT :)

"You're good, but I'm better."

A line that... to this day... buddies of mine and I yell at each other during... well anything.

Anyone remember the promotional video that was sent by Toys R Us that came before it? I remember thinking that shit was so funny back in the day. I think found it a few years back and gave it a quick watch: it was still funny but for different reasons :)

As for beating James out... I have a VAGUE recollection of me doing it. But I could be lying... so... don't take my word for it. I think I boosted out at the last second and just beat him. It was cool because you saw Fox coming first with James CLOSELY behind. Nice animation that really serves NO purpose.

I remember James getting in *my* way as I was trying to get out quicker (like, I would hit him then lose a wing). I don't think it was that much of a challenege to really beat him out.

This thread makes me even more upset that there isn't much media or descriptions of Star Fox Assaults single player game. The next Star Fox is right behind RE4 and Zelda as my most anticpated GC purchases.

I think it did that with every ending when you were led out by James. That's why I was saying earlier, maybe he was alive.

Can someone explain to me the story of the original Starfox? Was Pigma actually a good guy or something? Because I read the story at the start of this one and it said he was a traitor. Was James in the original? I've never played it, don't know what its about.

Nah, James is a ghost. You can't shoot him to death, therefore ghost.

My favourite thing to do is when you beat it with so many points, that General Pepper doesn't say anything. Not even "WHAAAT!??". Just blank static. You know you did good when you got so many points that the team didn't even bother make a sound for that high of point.

Star Fox team wasn't in the original at all.

64 is a remake of the original. It has basically the same story, without the Star Fox stuff. And no, James isn't in it. He was "dead/missing", just like 64.

It's been a while for me... but wasn't james sucked into a black hole in the original... and if you did the secret thing to go into the black hole, you'de find his ship floating? That's how i remember it anyway

Star Wolf: "Not so fast, Starrrrrr FOX!"

Fox: "Just what I needed to see....Star Wolf."

and slippy's famous

"Keep shooting! We've got lots of torpedoes!"

I'll chime in and agree that the promotional tape was awesome. it was so tacky it was hilarious. Sony as the mastermind and sega the big dumb guy. pretty much every line from that movie worth quoting, I watched the other day just to get a kick out of it.

Bob:"Peter? You didn't tell him about......the RUMBLE Pack?!"
Sony guy: "No, Bob. You just did."

somebody give the sony guy an oscar. i'm cracking up just thinking about it. Actually the other day a couple of friends and I put in MK64 just for grins, it reminded us of it and my friend was saying the "Ooonly on Nintendo sixty-four!!" that they were doing at the end of that video. :lol.

k torrent this video plz. :lol

And Starfox 64 has the best voice acting in any video game, EVER, because of the personality it gave the game. :D

Said it on here before but I will say it again, Star Fox 64 is one of the most underrated games from the past. God the N64 was such an awesome system.
