State of Play this Thursday with Ratchet and Clank Footage and a couple indies.

Im already gonna buy so I can skip this.
Just like Resident Evil 8, Id rather play it then watch and play a bunch of demo's. More surprises when I actually play it.
Looks amazing from the trailer the other day

I would love to see some new Gran Turismo 7 footage

For me was enough. I rather watch new IPs. The last gameplay was pretty decent and convinced me.

They could show Horizon or a new teaser for GoW, or even the new GT, even some new projects... just a teaser of something new.

They said this video wil be about Ratchet and an update on a couple of (so already known) indies. So don't expect anything other than that: Ratchet gameplay and a couple of already known indies.

Obviously they will save new GT, GoW, Horizon stuff for E3 plus announcements of new AAA IPs (as it could be these recently announced 2nd party games or the rumored/leaked new IPs many of their 1st party studios would have in the works). Or another 2nd party out of the over $300M they spend on them from April to December. And a shit ton of console exclusive cool indies more.

I'm always up for a surprise, but it's good that these companies are getting better at managing what'll be in a State of Play/Direct/etc. Hype at full speed kills.

Playstation China Hero Project stream also takes place on April 29th.
If the two indies are Black Myth: Wukong and Lost Soul Aside, the world would lose its shit.
Doubt they would do it though. It would take the attention away from Rachet & Clank: Rift Apart too much.
Take attention? Sony is hoping Lost Soul Aside blows up.

It's super funny how some here on the gaf are comparing the next Halo game, A CROSS GEN GAME, to a Sony PS5 exclusive. Wow...
That's power for you.
I will most likely be blocked again. That Ok it shows how sad some people are.

So you're saying we should compare Horizon Forbidden West with Halo Infinite then. They are both cross gen games.

I'd say it would make a lot more sense for Playstation to show Lost Soul Aside and Black Myth: Wukong at the China Hero Project stream rather than on their State of Play event.

And of course Playstation wants Lost Soul Aside to gain more traction, but I'd say they don't want it to take any attention away from Rachet, as Rachet is scheduled to launch in June and its marketing is starting to ramp up from now on.

A stream is a stream now in the online world, but the China Hero Project is a stream for the Asian market. (It is actually a live attendee event, usually.) We get to watch it, but it's not necessarily meant for us. Video releases from that show have often if not always had English-language subs or dialog, but that's because it's the most commonly shared language, also host Sony has an English-language PlayStation Asia presence. (Plus, some of the titles are being produced with English actors, probably for a bid at a global pickup.)

The games on the China Hero Project are not necessarily confirmed for release in North America or Europe, so it wouldn't make sense to promote the whole stream for games we might never see here. They'll probably pick and choose some for State of Play, among the other indies show. (Or perhaps, the CHP products will be the indies, in that it would have just been a R&C show but hey, let's time it to also show some of these Chinese games as well and make a meal of it.)

(I don't know if FIST or Lost Soul Aside even were promoted in past NA streams with that "China Hero Project" banner? It makes sense in China since it's an initiative Sony and Epic are promoting there with developers, and for hardcore game fans it's interesting to see specific works from this incubation program all in a bunch, but for general fans, that boutique approach might not be how they want to promote these products.)

Precisely why I said it makes more sense for those indie projects to be showcased on the China Hero Project stream?

Spider-Man Miles Morales or Horizon Forbidden West would be better comparisons then?

And they will be. But the China Hero Project stream is for China. The Ratchet State of Play stream is for North America. (Then another cut will be for Europe, and probably another for Japan, etc., much like past State of Plays.) In the North America stream, they will splice in some, probably not all, of the games shown for CHP; the ones that have a likelihood or a contract of release worldwide. If you want to watch CHP and see more games or fuller cuts of games, you can also watch that stream too.

The general PlayStation buyer audience is the target of the State of Play stream.

China Hero Project is too specific to show on even the PlayStation Blog or PS YT page. PlayStation here isn't even acknowledging that there is a China Hero Project stream (in part, because they'll probably be cherry-picking titles from it for State of Play anyway.) Looks like PlayStation.com has never even hosted a CHP or ChinaJoy sizzle reel on the blog, and only mentioned ChinaJoy existing one time (and they didn't cover Monkey King: Hero Is Back being at that same event, despite that it was published by PlayStation in China and was made by notable studio HexaDrive.) So I agree that it would have been cool for PlayStation to acknowledge and promote China Hero Project worldwide by streaming that show on its own, but it makes sense why they didn't do it that way.

So you mean you'd prefer Playstation to acknowledge the CHP and its games more? If so I agree.

However it makes sense for them to market it where it matters most first. Those games will probably come out there first.
Plus if Playstation can't excite the market it's primarily meant and targeted for, then it wouldn't make sense to confuse the customer to market it more worldwide, should the games not do well enough for their intended market to release them overseas.
