Hmm Skullgirls is only like $7 on the Humble Store, any chance it'll be cheaper during the Winter Sale? I kinda want a fighting game to play

But then again if the AI is terrible what's the challenge? Like I said before I loved Dishonored but mostly for what it tried to do rather than for what it achieved.

If you did play for the stealth route (ghost and / or non lethal) it became a giant blink puzzle which was satisfying to solve in it's own right.

Blood Dragon is awesome and just as fun to play as 3. I'm glad to see another 100%er joining me in the Far Cry 3 suckers club too.
I was checking isthereanydeal and I'm bummed I missed it for $3 five days ago on GamersGate. Hopefully it gets as cheap as that again somewhere else until the end of this month.

I'm convinced that Ubi games only track time when you're actually doing something, so cutscenes, loading screens and even moments when you're not moving aren't factored into it. My in-game Black Flag time is notably less than what Steam says (removing from the equation the 96 hours I lost, of course) and the only explanation I can conjure is that the game only tracks time when you're actually moving Kenway or sailing but not using Travel Speed.
Interesting, that would explain the big discrepancy. I did leave the game running in the menu on the TV while checking chats and other things on the monitor quite often during my sessions, so that also added to the difference if that's the case.

Well, you're right, there are too little toys for stealth route, but silently taking guards out is still satisfying nonetheless.

What is your 2012 GOTY?

I don't think I have one. I was going to say The Witcher 2, but it released in 2011 and I just didn't get around to playing it until last year. That's what I get for not playing games, I suppose. ;)

Just get Street Fighter 4. Its online won't be dead over the next year.

Why get Super Mega Maxi Street Fighter 4 now, when there's going to be a Mega Ultra Super Maxi Street Fighter 4 with Wings(tm) next year?
(Also, current GFWL will stay, right? They'll only remove the GFWL if you upgrade to the next one I thought)

True, but there is still a ton of content there already. And it would be a total asshole move if they didn't remove GFWL from the previous iterations as well. Was it confirmed that they weren't going to?

I think this is the main problem, really, with the stealth games we've been getting. As soon as you add actual weapons to the game, you're abandoning true stealth and need to reconfigure your game around that, which means compromising on stealth options if you don't want to basically make 2 games.

(Yes, I know OG Thief and Thief 2 also had weapons, but they really were only there as a last resort, you weren't expected/supposed to be able to straight up murder everyone in the game)
mostly murdering people in thief was super boring. I mean you still jack their asses and hide their corpses so it's not like it added any excitement to things

in dishonored not killing people is missing out on half the fun. like why would you walking around all sneak-like like a sorry ass scrub when you can slow mo, place a razor trap in some dude's face while you collect that other guy's bullets out of the freaking air

Arts is okay.

I believe we can do better though.

Lords management is okay.
hmm lords management sounds like a game I could get into

as long as there are ladies too

Maybe because it was called thief and not mass murderer.

I can't remember (I don't actually care enough about fightmans to follow the news with more than half an eye), but let's not forget this is capcpom.

Dishonored was easily the most disappointing game of last year. I feel so bad for hyping it up so much before people really knew what it was. A rare complete failure in judgement on my part.

I guess my expectations for it were so low to begin with. I saw it as a Thief-lite with a bit of Bioshock thrown in. At the price point, it was a good value and a decent little game. I wouldn't call it GOTY, but an entertaining diversion.

Lords & Ladies: Management sounds like a sequel to the Max Payne in game drama show. (Max Payne 1) (Max Payne 2)

Decent little game? LITTLE GAME?

That game took me 21 amazingly fun and satisfying hours to finish. I loved every minute.

In my eyes, Arkane Studios can do no wrong.

indeed

then again dishonored isn't called mass murderer but it's still at its best when you're doing so for some reason

then you find out you condemned the whole world to bioshock 1 bad ending lol

to be fair getting that hugo girl to become slowly more evil is hilarious

aka the best shit ever

Man, remember when Max Payne was good?
back when they were set in new york rather than liberty city

When all is said and done I think it was one of the better AAA games from last gen. It was at least as good as the Arkham Batman games and in some ways they do similar things: give you a chance to toy with slightly stupid AI but also give you plenty of tools to wreck their shit

If you play it as a stylish murder sandbox, it's pretty good.

Ballpoint Universe: Infinite Mostly of the time the game is competent side scroller shooter with great art. There are three types of control one only using a mouse, keyboard and controller, unfortunatelly I wasn't able to make it work with my fight pad so I played it with the mouse because the keyboards control felt a little too sensitive for my tastes.

One good point the game has is the amount of items you can buy to customize the ship bringing. In the end of each level you're awarded according to how many lives you ended.

The game also has it's moments of exploration where you can explore the world , collect items and talk to the npc's to understand the plot of the game.
Iirc there is a web based demo if someone wants to try it before.

Crusader Kings II A gift from Atraveller, it's my first contact with a Paradox strategy game, in the first minutes I was kinda lost but doing the tutorial helped me to start understanding the basic mechanics. So far I got married, arranged a wedding to one of my sisters and answered a call to arms, also the number of bastatd childs my character has is too high. I'm still deciding how to deal with my spy master, his respect for me is -51 so I think it's better concede some titles to him.

I could have played for a lot more if my laptop didn't decided to turn itself off. D:

Enhanced edition was released in 2012

That's more of a content update than a new game -- it was practically free DLC, plus my playthrough was prior to the EE update (I'm waiting until 3 is around the corner before playing through it and the original game again).

Someone once asked this question in this thread previously and I found your evasive sidestepping refusal to answer kind of telling, but I will ask it once again since I think it is relevant. Just what exactly are your top 10 PC games then, or top five for this year? Or are you in a non-stop perpetual "angry old man yells at cloud" mode for everything?

I'm quite pleased and surprised that SSFIV has so many players online.

That's still not a horrible number for Skullgirls. Suprisingly, KOF is doing okay also. Along with the rest of the games.

The real crowd bringer is going to be that promiscuous Vanguard Princess... I'm not a fan of designs like that, but I'll give it a go. There's also Yatagarasu on the horizon.

I'll also bet one of my paychecks that GGXrd will make it on Steam too.

So you've only played it once?

Well, I'm preparing myself for disappointment with Thief. Hopefully it proves me completely wrong.

I think Derrick gets a bad wrap more than he should. I haven't posted on this forum for that long but I know he likes: last of us, gta5, ETS2, Arkham City, old stealth games and so on....

He also makes it very clear what he doesn't like which can be abrasive but at least it's being real.

I have a dumb question: I have Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold - Episode 1 on Steam, which I probably acquired from the "Build a Greenlight Bundle" Groupees bundle

Is that the same as the "Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold" from Indieroyale's Nutcracker Bundle?

Are there other episodes of the game?

Updated Rogue Legacy and did a full run-through, New Game +5, and didn't get any of the new achievements. Some of the levels looked a little different, I think, and I think I ran into some new enemies, but no new achievements.

Edit: No, no new enemies.

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Man... I guess they added new achievements so I have one less perfect game. Crap.

"The PS3 Derrick01 has likes no games"

I have no issue whatsoever with someone making mostly abrasive critical comments. It just seems like that is all he does though. I haven't seen him make hardly any positive comments or give any praise, just non-stop old man shouting at cloud guff. Then it seemed like he was a bit evasive when asked that question previously, which I put down to an angry old man protecting his right to be angry.

One day he may very well start gushing about an indie game like Toma, and it will be like the stars were colliding in the heavens above. It will be awe inspiring and strike fear and dread into the hearts of those who see it. Until then though, much like the rising of the sun in the East, so comes Derrick with his wrinkled old fist aimed at an enraging piece of white fluff hanging in the sky.

Pretty sure only episode 1 of that game is actually out (Curse of the Gold).
Episode 2 will be (is?) Injun Trouble. Also with the whole Replay shitstorm, I dunno if the guy making it is even still with them.

PC games or overall? I only have 1 PC focused title for this year, the rest are multiplatform or handheld. What fun would it be if I spoiled it now?

It's not very interesting to be honest

Replay hasn't said a word about a second episode in yonks. I wouldn't be surprised if the game's been quietly shelved.

Injun Trouble doesn't exist.

I definitely need to replay Witcher 2 before 3, I remember next to none of it.

Plus I've upgraded the computer since first playthough, so good looking.
