Bought Velvet Assassin with spare money in the wallet of my TF2 idle account. I really enjoy these kinds of games, lets see how bad it really is.

Damn I just looked and noticed there's 3.9 million online right now. Has it ever gotten that high before?

3.974 million concurrent users. Last week it was at ~3.94 million. If it doesn't hit 4 million today, it will when the Dota 2 beta starts
hopefully next week

They really need a new section on steam for DLC and Add-ons.It says 600 games o nthe side and like half is all this multiple DLC from one game

agreed, although I do think that steam tries to only release DLC on day of release so it's not so much of a clusterfuck on the frontage when you go to coming soon tab.

Been waiting for cheapo Velvet Assassin. I was always interested in the game, but it kind of got a bit punished by reviews. For that price though I'm willing to see if I'll enjoy. :)
I felt the same way, I thought it looked interesting, but reviews were really bad. Joe Molotov is the only guy on my friends list who has it, I think, because he buys every game ever. Has anyone played it who didn't hate it, and thinks it's at least worth $5?

Yep it is. A lot of older games on Steam seem like that. I bought the F.E.A.R. pack a while back and couldn't stomach playing the original again...mad memory leak or something. Ran like ass. I swear it ran better back in the day on my shitty Pentium 3 or whatever I had.

Ridiculous. I get 3 FPS ingame... totally unplayable.

What settings do you have turned on and what's your hardware? I picked up the Butcher's Bay/Dark Athena combo when it was previously on sale and had absolutely no performance issues.

I have everything on low...

Let me put it this way. I can play Dragon Age Origins at a solid 45-60fps on medium settings. I can handle The Witcher 2 in low settings. Batman AA runs at a solid 45-60fps on mid.

I don't see why this game is running at 3fps on low.

runs fine on my win7 computer and it only has 2gb of ram

So you've got a medium to low spec comp, does it barely meet the requirements posted on the store page?

I'm almost positive it exceeds them.

I have an I7 processor. 8GB of RAM. And my graphics card is a Radeon HD 6770M.

That's your problem. You need an I9 with 16GB of RAM, like everyone else has. (I have no clue what the problem is, lol)

On the graphics options menu, you can keep scrolling down to get to ssao and some other stuff that might be causing it to chugg. The game also runs in openGL so you might want to roll your graphic card drivers back as well, since the older drivers usually have better compatibility with GL.

I have the same hardware as you, and can run The Witcher 2 on high-ish @720p. 35-40fps... (25-30 in chapter 2)

Oh right. For some reason I thought you mentioned low/mid settings. I should have rechecked the PM.

Ah this explains it. My computer has a huge problem with games using OpenGL. I can't run Amnesia for example.

3fps sounds crazy. I'd clear out CCC to be safe (esp. vsync).

It is crazy. And what do you mean by CCC?

Uh, you should have no problems running this game. You have more RAM than I do, I have an i7 (quad core 2.8ghz) as well but I'm not certain how an Nvidia GTX 480 compares to that ATi card. I suspect the issue is likely your graphics card, specifically your driver.

ATi cards always seem to be problematic with certain games and require specific driver updates. I'd try looking on the STeam user forum or using your Google-fu.

Judging by the fact that he has a laptop gpu, theres a chance that his i7 is dualcore. Also a 480 gtx is much better than a 6770m so comparing them is no use.

I wasn't comparing them, I said I had no idea how they compared. I know nothing about ATi cards. I didn't even know he was using a laptop or that his CPU was simply dualcore but I guess I should've continued reading the thread rather than responding to that one post.

Edit: Just bought all of the Civ 5 DLC. Figured the purchase is worthwhile give that the base game has provided 87 hours of entertainment thus far and I'll likely play this game more than any other I buy this year.

Someone on the Steam forums said to lower the AA from x32, as he was also getting 10-15fps.

(Also yay I'm finally unbanned, thanks for the unwarranted ban Evilore)

Ass Creed Bro would require you to download a copy of the game somehow (probably illegally) to use the CD key since it will not register on Steam or Origin.

For just general discussion about sites like this, see this thread.
Actually they provide it right there on the site. I think in a zip or something.

Velvet Assassin was never this cheap though.
It was if you bought it from like gogames.com at some point like me (2.50)

Wow, I wonder how they are getting that to work. I assume the Ubisoft Download Manager is for people who bought the game from Ubisoft's store, odd that it wouldn't require an account or something to download the game though.

that seems tempting. wonder if there's a digital deluxe edition of sorts!

The availability of DDEs from CD key re-sellers seems to be rare. CJS sell the Augmented Edition of DE:HR and... that's about it, as far as I'm aware.

ps: just joined your killing floor bundle giveaway XD

Good luck!

Does the Tropico 3: Steam Special Edition contain the Absolute Power content? I'm not sure if I
should click on the Steam Special Edition or the Absolute Power version.

No, if you want the Absolute Power DLC, you have to buy the Tropico 3: Gold Edition.

No, but the Gold Edition does.

Edit: D'oh.

So in my games list I have Tropico 3 Steam Special Edition and Tropico 3 Absolute Power. I'm guessing it's like Civ IV in that if I play absolute power all the stuff from the OG is in it?

stuminus3 said:
Yes, both listings actually launch the same thing.

Great, thanks all! Hope I like this game.

Did you turn off ambient occlusion? Also, I'm pretty sure that video card is garbage. Don't expect much from it.

No I don't think I did.

And garbage, really? Someone already mentioned it can handle The Witcher 2 at high settings @ 30fps. For a laptop that doesn't sound like garbage.

Anyway, I can play Mass Effect at 62 FPS with most of the settings on mid-high. I don't see why Chronicles of Riddick (which looks considerably worse) runs at 3fps with all settings on low.
