Frozen Synapse is pretty fun, but damn it's also hard. I don't really know when I should focus on timing, aim direction, ducking etc. Also I got my ass kicked in multiplayer matches.

Has anyone tried the total Civ V conversion mod Civ V Nights?

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/09/09/mods-and-ends-civilization-v-nights/

It changes how the A.I. functions a bit, creates more policies and policy branches to explore, changes how later buildings influence the game, making them more powerful than their pre-Rennaissance counterparts and, the biggest change of all, it alters how happiness functions in the game. In Civ V vanilla, more citizens in a city means more unhappiness, in Nights the more citizens you have, the more happiness there is. So basically every Civ functions the way India does?

Edit: I'll grab GalCivII next time I see it. I'm also installing Europa Universalis 3, gonna give it The Old College Kabouter Try. Probably going to give the Civ Nights mod a go as well. Hopefully it's a sight better than the Georgian kingdom mod I downloaded the other night.

No, I think you just flat out get more happiness for citizens where India's trait in vanilla meant fewer larger cities would provide more happiness. Also, NiGHTS has it so military units cost happiness or something too.

According to that RPS article expansion (more cities, unless I'm reading too much into that) and militarisation take happiness away in Nights. And where does this leave India, is their base happiness increased to compensate for this rather fundamental change to how happiness functions?

So... anyone figured out what changes Double Fine made to Meat Circus in this patch? Because as someone who never played the original it's kind of annoying as is.

Pretty sure they made it easier. Although IMO it was never really hard in the first place. It was a difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game, but the rest of the game is really easy.

Why is there no one talking about the daily deal Avadon, you crazy people. Its a steal for 3,50$.

Not game related but steam related, anyway to save the size of a IM window? Every time I resize it and restart steam or something gets put back in that awful small IM box.

Ah damn, I am already totally used to the stupid $=€ currency thing. Its 3,49€ and I assumed its the same for you in $. 4,99$ is still rather cheap for a game that launched as 25$ (?) game and is an old school rpg you dont get to see often these days. Its not the deepest or hardest from the guy who made it, but still worth the money in my opinion.

Downloaded and installed Civ V Nights. The technology tree has been entirely reshuffled and reworked and the policy track system has changed entirely.

All of Civ V Night's policy track is open from the beginning now rather than requiring your civilization reaching a certain point in time. Liberty and Freedom appear to have been woven into other policy tracks and the policy tracks themselves have been significantly altered, added to and made more complex. Previously there were only five policies per policy track to adopt.

Disregarding the fact it could probably go even lower it IS a pretty good value. Especially if you treat it as 75% off compared to their site (and was even higher before it was dropped from $25 to $20 there.)

So 7 hours into Dark Messiah, on chapter 9 which I'm pretty sure is the finale, maybe one more.

Its been pretty fun so far. Bit linear, but I've enjoyed the amount of puzzles and platforming you get to do. Rope Bow is best bow. But it also feels like they could have done much more, like If I could use Rope Bow to pull enemies. Sadly, spells feel similar. I would figure they would have more second uses and impact. But most of them have been pretty weak. Even with my magical focus, Flame sword is much better than any of the spells and my mana has basically become just a tool to heal myself.

Jumping in the game has been a hassle though. Its more of a crappy lunge, resulting in many deaths.

Story wise:
To sum it up. Do I want to bang the noble, cute normal girl or hot, kinky demon girl who keeps talking about sex. Lets just say I saved normal girl only to kill her to get demon girl off ^_^. Gonna be burning this whole world down.

Well Steam thread, I finished Psychonauts. One particular part of Meat Circus was singeing my canoles so badly I had to look it up on YouTube to make sure I was going about it the right way. It turns out I was doing it right, which was nice, but the funniest part was that I could see what they'd changed since it was an old video and I can say with a fair amount of certainty that I would have rage quit the original incarnation.

Anyway, it turned out there was a fun game in there after all.

He has two main franchises, Avernum and Geneforge. IMO one of the best things about both series' is that he uses descriptive walls of text to describe new areas you enter and the mannerisms of the NPCs you talk to, which helps compensate for the crude graphics and are actually very well written and good at setting mood.

Avernum was heavily inspired by 80s and early 90s computer RPGs, and plays almost like Dungeons and Dragons in that respect. Party of four, large world with lots of quests and secrets and magic items and stuff. This is what your character screen looks like, basically:
http://www.avernum.com/images/avernumold/Statscreen.JPG

So its worth noting that he's remaking the first one into Avernum: Escape from the Pit, which will be releasing early next year. That'll be on Steam as well, so if that sounds interesting I'd wait for that. The original game looks like this:
The remake will look like this:

Geneforge on the other hand is inspired more by games like the original Fallout titles, or Baldur's Gate. The first game in the series, just called Geneforge, is pretty much my top RPG of all time. It hits what I think is an incredible balance of exploration, mystery, faction-based politics and more. Read my review here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=24339218&postcount=336
The other games in the series are definitely solid, although not as amazing. But the first game is something I think every RPG fan should at least play once.
Thanks for the explanation, I might be buying.

If you're a fan of 80's Transformers and despise the movies, it's one of the greatest things since sliced bread. It's a bit short, but it's freaking amazing, tons and tons of references to the 80's show.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzIwjioWyDg <- The best credit roll on this planet, no actual spoilers but I'm advising not to watch it if you're planning to beat the game. I wasn't aware of it and i cried tears of joy when I was surprised by this. Not kidding.

That was pretty good. I always like seeing well done credit rolls. But, the Blur Credit Roll is still my favorite.

witcher 2 is $30 right now on steam. is that the cheapest?
Yeah. The developer just lowered the price to that. it's the same thing on GoG.

Anything lower requires you to have a Russian friend.

Oh boy g2play they sent my key for Alice Madness Returns and its already been used when I tried to register it on Origin.

IntKeys is selling Steam keys for F3AR (lols) for $18.50.

As someone who generally appreciates the series in spite of the continuous decline in quality, is it worth playing?

Oh my.

I played through Fear 3 with a friend, albeit on console.

Unless the PC version is magically radically different, save your money.

That makes me a bit sad but it's not really unexpected, cheers.

Probably an honest mistake, just get in touch with them. They've been around forever; they're not going to screw you over.

Those who can register it got it from the nvidia deal. Only in a better world than ours is it steamworks.

Damnit.

My need to have all my games on Steam and downloadable through the Steam client will probably once again screw me into paying the Australia tax on the Steam version.

I don't think I like Civ V Nights. They've fundamentally changed how the game works and some of it doesn't make sense or seems overly obtuse and complex. The more complex policy tracks are a welcome change but I haven't had a real opportunity to explore them fully. Culture costs are significantly lower in Nights so you're buying a new policy every few turns it seems. I don't know if it functions like vanilla where the more cities you have the greater the cost for unlocking policies. I don't like the changes they made to economy, you can be losing money and even bankrupt in the preliminary rounds of the game with early agrarian society with no military units except the one the game starts you off with. I can understand making little to no money, but losing it outright in the very beginning? Maybe the problem is I don't understand the new technology tree, economics and what I should be developing works in Nights. The new tech trees do seem needless complex and sub-divided a bit too much.

$35 at intkeys. someone said they bought it off them in the RAGE OT, so maybe PM them and ask them if it's preloaded, they received their key yet, etc.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=31421357&postcount=1025

i might buy it off them too so let us know. flip flopping atm.

edit: this is a site that sells keys from europe/russia, just to clarify, several gaffers have said the site is legit and safe to use (for now, more and more developers region locking keys).

Thanks for that. I ordered a key just then, see how we go. Can't beat that price though!

Can't believe Alpha Protocol was only $2. It's pretty good. It has a strange idea of what "suave" is, though.
