With a situation like that I wouldnt kick myself for buying at that price. Thats like $5.00 right? any further discounts will only save you a dollar or less.

But the GOTY edition might go on sale for the same amount...

There is clearly a sale. Do a search.
Front page updates or it doesn't happen. :p

Either way, glad to hear it actually has started, even though there's no place to see all the sale items in one place yet.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

Just pulled the trigger on these since they're small indies that won't be daily deals. Getting great $10 games for $2.50 is arguably the sweetest thing about these sales. Mega publisher packs give great deals, but you gotta drop big money to get them. So, I like small things like this, instead.

Your Shopping Cart

$2.49 Harvest: Massive Encounter
$2.49 Hinterland
$1.24 Time Gentlemen, Please! and Ben There, Dan That! Double Pack

Total: $6.23

These games are very likely to appear in Indie Packs. You might want to hold off on these sales.

Yeah. The developers lamented that decision insofar that they jumped at the chance to be included in a sale and didn't wait to see how a lesser-aggressive sale would have faired for them.
so that means it probably won't happen again, right? :(

Have there ever been daily deals on packs? Would I be alright buying the iD pack today?

Yes, there absolutely are. I got my iD pack really really cheap that way one year at christmas.

There is if you put your Wishlist to good use ;)

What happens if there's another OutRun: Coast To Coast scenario where all of the CD keys are bought and no one else gets it?

It's a conundrum. Wait until the last day for a better sale VS possible not being able to buy at all.

I would feel guilty if I bought a game at a price that wasnt intended just because of a glitch. Who covers the difference between the glitch and the real price? Valve? Or does the publisher take the loss. I would guess Valve would have to make up the difference since it was their fault. Either way I wouldn't feel right about it.

What's with all those "wait" advice? Don't daily deals disappear after each day? I just bought SSF4:AE... >_>;
You buy the featured daily deals the day they're on sale, and anything else on the last day.

To the contrary, they'd likely try it again now that it is ingrained in the minds of Steam users that the game has been $X. In hindsight, it was more, "We really should have waited" as opposed to, "We dun goofed; we won't be going that low again!"

Well yeah, buy it if it's a daily deal, else wait until the last day.

What we're seeing here is a MAJOR STEAM SALE. There's usually 3 a year, Summer, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

During these sales most of Steam goes on sale. However, the daily deals during these sales tend to put some or all of these games on MORE sale.

So any sale you see, unless you're sure it's a daily deal, may be cheaper sometime before the sale ends.

Need daily deals ASAP. This 33% shit is WEAK for Steam!

There's plenty with bigger discounts, you just have to search for it. Here in the UK the Valve Pack is £25 (>80% off) and Test Drive Unlimited 2 is £5 (75% off).

Pulled the trigger on SSFIV:AE. I suppose it could go lower than 43% off a unreleased, new game but it's at least as likely it will go up once the pre-order bonus is over, so I bit. I feel pretty good about it. It will likely be the single biggest purchase of the sale.

I only wanted A.R.E.S. which was $10 on its own.

Yeah, that's my problem with the Indie Packs. They carefully and purposefully put 1-2 desirable games in each pack and then pad the rest with filler, so that it's really not such a good deal in the end considering you didn't want the other 4 games anyway.
