Must say, this achievement gathering thing has been a great incentive to work through the backlog a bit - all these great, until now unplayed games sitting patiently in the library for countless months! I love PC gaming.

About 83 games....funny that I started to account to give the ID super pack to my dad when it was on sale, and he handed the account back to me because he didn't like the fact steam shows all the stuff for sale.
Most expensive game I bought was RE5 (which I played quite a bit)
[I also have two copies of lead and gold from a 4pack I purchased over the summer if anyone wants to trade]

Yeah, I want more off Tropico 4, 50% off still would put it over 20, for something that looks more like a second add-on for Tropico 3 than a new game to me.
Anno 2070 I pre-ordered a physical copy of (cost me about 30), was totally worth it, incredible game.

Would be so much better to have a Holiday sale + achievement list + list of gifters as 3 different threads then having a mega thread.
Tropico 3 was super fun for me and I got a lot out of the $20 I paid for it. Tropico 4 being 50% off would put it at $20 and that's fine by me.
Anno 2070 I'm scared won't run well on my E8400 + HD4870 which might make be not buy it at 50% off. It'll depend on if I impulse buy anything else before Anno 2070 goes on sale.
I might get Dungeons The Dark Lord instead of Anno 2070 if Dungeons TDL is at least 66% off.
Oh, I loved Tropico 3 and Absolute Power. I guess $20 wouldn't be so bad if that meant €15 here. But 50% off would mean €22.50, which is almost $30. A bit much. I'll probably consider getting it gifted if they do a 50% off thing.
Funny story. I have an E8500 + HD4870 512MB. I come close to being able to max the game (without FSAA/AF) at 1920x1200. You'll be fine.

I'm hoping the tradition of 'games used as achievement hunting go into a big discount' continues.
Did you load the beta? It seems like the only time I ever had the problem was when I updated to the beta. Lost them. Then I lost them again a little while later (after the beta expired?)
I'm not sure if it was a fluke, but I've always associated beta upgrades with lost categories since then. And it's the reason why I never do them anymore. Also haven't lost my categories in the longest time (since the last time I ran the beta client).
Not sure if it's a coincidence or not.
There hopefully will be another treasure hunt, so we can participate without buying anything! Which is genius.

I am ready for the hunt. My computer is not however; the graphics card died at the worst possible time. I'm sups broke so I'll have to do some serious magic* to squeeze frame rates out of my ancient 7600GS.

Very frustrating. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Over 500 games, all in various categories. Logged into my steam account from work during my lunch break (which I never do), and notice that my categories from home were not there. Get home later that day, and no more categories at home either. I'm almost certain logging into a second computer did it for me it. Had never had a problem previously, when only logging in from one machine.
Wouldn't be so bad if you could select multiple games to add to a category - but doing one game at a time, fuck that.
I had a bit of a look into it, and saw that there is a separate file "sharedconfig.vdf" which controls your categories, so I will backup that next time I get them setup I think.

It'll take quite some time to get all 3. Getting to 3-7 will take some effort. Personally, I'm not redeeeming my Steam key as I don't want to lose the chance to buy Bit.Trip runner a third time (and the other games) and really don't want to start over that game (I'm up to about 3-3 on Wiiware). Maybe if I'm desperate for coal I'll have to do that but its a last resort to me.
This is good news for me, I have the same card with a E7200, my cpu will limit me a bit but it should run well enough to buy now then.
Edit: £20 at retail, unless it goes lower on steam I'll wait for the new year to pick it up.

Was 4.99 during Black Friday week. Wouldn't be surprised if they matched that price again.
