What 3D display do you have?

Asus VG236H. It's not in the Asus VG278H's league, but it's still nice. Wasn't sure how much I was going to like 3D. And when Amazon had it for 265 (with 3D Vision Kit included), I took the plunge. Only regret was not doing it sooner.

Ah cool, how much of a difference does 3D Vision make? I have a Samsung S27A950D, which doesn't support 3D Vision but has it's own 3D thing, though, I haven't even tried it yet.

Clearly 3D is polarizing. But personally speaking, 1080P 3D @ 60fps is my Next Gen bump. I think it's amazing.

As a framerate whore, however, I'd say I'm even pickier in 3D. If you can hold 60fps, or at least get close, animation is amazing. But a clunky framerate makes the animation look really skippy/synthetic to me.

Any game you'd recommend for trying 3D? I have a GTX570 so I don't think I can do any newish things at 3D/60fps

Do you think guys that Sonic Adventure 2 will get a discount in the Autum Sales or until Winter Sales?

Nah, there's the possibility that it MIGHT get a 15-25% as some games launched just before a sale shared the same luck, but don't expect it to get a 50% discount, even.

Personally, having completed that game in it's entirety on the FAR SUPERIOR GameCube version, I'll only double-dip if the game reaches $2 or so. As for the DLC, don't really care.

So I think that I'm gonna buy it on GMG it's cheaper than Steam!

99% discount tomorrow!

I hope Gabe hear you!!! lol

Let me think about that a little bit. If you want something right off the bat, I'd say Trine 2 is pretty spectacular (or Trine 1 if you don't have 2).

If you want a bigger list, I can PM you something. But the list will be based off 3D Vision. So I'm not sure how well some of the others will play.

Trine 1/2, however, have 3D settings in game. So it should be spectacular no matter what drivers you're using.

I didn't notice anyone mention this yet. From Tony on CAG.

Update! Tomorrow, 11/21, we'll have Dead Island GOTY for $6.79, Risen for $4.99, and Risen 2 for $9.99.

Cheers,
Tony
I think Risen is still Amazon only. From their product pages Dead Island GOTY and Risen 2 are definitely Steam activated.

Thanks, I'll try Trine 2 as soon as it's done downloading. I'm really split on the whole 3D thing. I absolutely hate it in movies, going so far as refusing to see a movie if it's only shown in 3D. On the other hand I'm really interested on the gaming side because I imagine the improved framerate would eliminate almost everything I don't like about 3D in movies.

Just finished Hell Yeah! Got all achievements, still a couple of missions and costumes left. Nice game, really fun, though a little frustrating at times. Loved the humor and cartoon graphics.

Had anyone gotten the DLC? Is it worth it? (at a future sale price, of course)

Just chiming in to say I absolutely love Renegade Ops in 3D. Some others: Tomb Raider Guardian Light, Diablo 3 and a few of others. I'd love to see your list if you can PM me as well.

Holy shit. This is far better than I expected. I'd really like to see that list you were talking about. If you don't mind compiling one.

How do Ubisoft games work on steam these days? Are they just launching the uplay client anyway through steam anyway?
I'm considering picking up Far Cry 3 and the GMG version is much cheaper, but you don't get a steam code. Would I be missing out on anything important?

Proteus ($7.50 on the Humble Store) will be released on Steam in January. The game will be finished on December, 20. I guess it means we will have Winter sales in-between.

Yeah, I read about that. Disappointing, as I was really looking forward to it for this year. Now I have to push it out of my mind and forget it for the next couple of months.

I would buy it now if the specs were not that high:

System Requirements
CPU: 2.0GHz RAM: 3GB
Any games-capable graphics card (TBC)
Windows: XP SP3 & above
Mac: OSX 10.6 & above

After all, with the Humble Store, one should get a Steam key in the end... and get to play the game now. Well, we'll see what I do.

GOG has a nice 'pick 5, pay 10 bucks' sale too for those wondering. Space Chem, To the moon, and Alan Wake's American nightmare being the obvious high profile games on the list.
(oh, and Anomaly: Warzone Earth, but I would guess most people already have that one. And Machinarium as well. )

Her smile creeps me out.

I'd still work as her boob adjuster though.
I'm not so sure I'd do it. I mean, playing an excellent demo and not being able to get the full game? It would be horrible.

GAF, I have between 2 and 3 hours until Hitman Absolution finishes downloading. I'm thinking about what to play in the meantime. Stacking, yes or no?

Better to play something than none at all!

And yes, Stacking is pretty awesome. You won't finish it in 2 hours though.

Yeah, I just want something to pass the time, instead of looking at the progress bar and thinking about how long it takes to download Absolution xD

80% done at 340 KB/s, only 2 GB more and then I'll have to wait while Steam uncompresses the preload.

I just hate playing beta's. I'll play so much that by the time the "full release" happens I won't want to play and miss out on the possible new content and bug fixes.

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.

Maybe you can't answer this question, but did you have to die 100+ times total to get Groundhog Day Lover, or did it have to be in one play session? I have to admit I'm not going to bother either way, but I was kinda surprised I never got the achievement before completing the game.

Turns out I've had it 6 months now. I started typing up a list (with comments) and decided I'm just going to turn it into a "6 Month Review of 3D Vision" thread. Gaf really doesn't have an up-to-date PC 3D thread and there are some essential links that not everyone is aware of. I'll PM a link after it's created (since I'm sure it'll probably disappear pretty quickly).

Scumbag EA. Has no issues with putting Sims DLC on Steam.

Won't budge for Battlefield or Mass Effect.
