So lets list the possibility of Microsoft games on Steam now that there is a trend of MS embracing Steam.

Shadowrun?

At the time, I seem to recall they licensed out the game rights for Shadowrun Returns.. is that still the case?

I wish Mechwarrior was a possibility :D

Yup. There is a lot of room for improvement and I would give a sequel a chance if it were to come out. Though I didn't mind the combat as much. When you get that Thunder Hammer.....HNNNNNG.

Thunder Hammer was a good time, but it preventing me from using weapons that I needed was a real drag. I can understand why they would do it, but without being able to cycle which slots where 'trapped', it became frustrating. A sequel could definitely fix some of it. I really liked the jump pack sections.

I think the combat stuff is just something I've been noticing way more since Bioshock Infinite. That game made me notice the artificiality of a lot of games just being connected rooms full of people to click on, which has never really been interesting to me. Combat can totally be fun (Metal Gear Rising was great for this), but a lot of the times it seems to just exist to make the game last longer, and just fill the void of empty worlds. I just really don't like long strings of pointless combat.

I'm currently downloading Enslaved with my internet connection that is composed of a platypus with a paper cup. As I recall, the port is fairly bare-bones, but what's the trick to overcome the terrible self-shadow banding?

Better late than never but you need to do some .ini pissing about and not use the values that the game sets for you. It boosts up the shadow resolution but still retains the distance and length and makes the problem a whole lot worse. I'm not by my normal pc with what values I've got but if your even vaguely familiar with UE3 .ini settings (and I know you are) it's an easy tweak.

Edit: Bizarely I had some settings that I pm'd someone a while back. Try these in MonkeyGame.ini

[SystemSettings]
StaticDecals=True
DynamicDecals=True
UnbatchedDecals=True
DecalCullDistanceScale=1.000000
DynamicLights=True
DynamicShadows=True
LightEnvironmentShadows=True
CompositeDynamicLights=True
DirectionalLightmaps=True
MotionBlur=False
MotionBlurPause=False
DepthOfField=True
AmbientOcclusion=True
Bloom=True
UseHighQualityBloom=True
Distortion=True
FilteredDistortion=True
DropParticleDistortion=False
SpeedTreeLeaves=True
SpeedTreeFronds=True
OnlyStreamInTextures=False
LensFlares=True
FogVolumes=True
FloatingPointRenderTargets=True
OneFrameThreadLag=True
UseVsync=True
UpscaleScreenPercentage=True
Fullscreen=True
AllowD3D10=False
AllowRadialBlur=True
SkeletalMeshLODBias=0
ParticleLODBias=0
DetailMode=2
ShadowFilterQualityBias=0
MaxAnisotropy=16
MaxMultisamples=1
MinShadowResolution=32
MaxShadowResolution=512
NTEnableSurfaceDumping=False
NTHighQualityCaptureMode=False
NTForceAllMipsResident=False
ShadowFadeResolution=128
ShadowFadeExponent=2.200000
ResX=1920
ResY=1080
ScreenPercentageX=100.000000
ScreenPercentageY=100.000000
SceneCaptureStreamingMultiplier=1.000000
FoliageDrawRadiusMultiplier=1.000000
ShadowTexelsPerPixel=1.275
PreShadowResolutionFactor=0.500000
bEnableVSMShadows=False
bEnableBranchingPCFShadows=False
bAllowBetterModulatedShadows=True
bEnableForegroundShadowsOnWorld=True
bEnableForegroundSelfShadowing=False
ShadowFilterRadius=2.000000
ShadowDepthBias=0.012000

The bolded are the important values. Don't set the shadow resolution too high as it's will become way too sharp and create that horrible mosaic effect. Radius and bias will change the angle and depth of dynamic shadows and can be used to tighten things up (in small increments mind).

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
I wondered the same thing and am in the process of buying a few spares.

May fate be on my side.

I'm not by my normal pc with what values I've got but if your even vaguely familiar with UE3 .ini settings (and I know you are) it's an easy tweak.

I appreciate the response and while I've played a handful of UE3 games over the past year or so, I've never had to fiddle with the shadow settings, which is why I asked, haha. Your confidence is inspirational, though, so I'm sure I'll find what I need. ;)

Edit: Ah, thanks for the edit! I'll see how I go with those settings.

Age of Mythology is the tits

I worked at a cyber cafe when it came out and we would pull all-nighters playing on LAN

good times

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
A fun watch, featuring a Steam favorite.

Waiting for someone else to give me the NERRRD gif

You worked at a cyber cafe at age 12?
That was some serious underage exploitation.

Thanks The_Super_Inframan for Diehard Dungeon! Here's to hoping I can figure out this BSOD problem and actually make use of it soon. Step one: Get drunk. Halfway there. Step two involves a hammer and my computer.

Anyone knows what the price for Front Mission: Evolved is during a big Steam sale?

3-4 bucks but that's only if Square discounts their back catalog (as it is unlikely to get a featured sale) which is a crap shoot. Keep an eye on Gamersgate, have seen it around that price multiple times and it comes with a Steam key.

Good, good. These shall be mine.

I wonder when Danmaku keys will be available on Humble Store for purchasers...

Also, wasn't the action-ish game in a bundle? I seem to remember it being in one, but I could be mistaken... I wonder if it was in the bundle if purchasers will get keys...

Edit: It was in Indie Royale Debut 7.

I did it all for the nookie
Ah yes, "art collections". Flash video totally killed those.
Most of my memories of LAN parties land on Carmen Electra wallpapers.

Porn leeching aside, I sure do miss low-latency Counter-Strike. :(
I was never good at FPS, so I'd replace CS with Jedi Knight/Academy.

I reseated my RAM and I'm going strong without a blue screen error. First, computers are still dumb. Second, I'm going to have to assume a cat missle attempted to take out my computer while I was at work. Otherwise computers are just really dumb.

beer always solves the boring video game problem.

I know it's a super long shot, even moreso than the Halo releases, but this game should be on Steam. It's REALLY good as long as you can get over the fact that it's not really a Shadowrun game. I got the 100 games played as Dwarf achievement on 360, so I played a ton of it, and it was great.

speaking of BSOD, before I got this monitor all I had hooked up to my PC was my HDTV, and everytime I woke up there was a BSOD on the screen when I turned it on. Now it doesnt happen anymore.

I guess that eventually happens if you dont have a monitor plugged in? since whenever I turned off my TV apparently the PC lost the handshake with it
