Hmm. I can understand why more people haven't finished Pid. While an enjoyable, though just competent, platformer with a couple of nice mechanics to it, it's not well crafted in level design or bosses.

It's main issue is that it takes too long before moving onto the next power, next tool, next set of challenges to focus on really making sure I know exactly how to get through the exact same type of problems several times more than needed. Which wouldn't be so bad if figuring out how to get past a situation or best using platforming skill gave me a sense of reward for doing so via skill, but alas it just doesn't have it. Electronic Super Joy did more for me in that regard.
I don't mind platformrs that don't change much as long as it's fun to play and I really feel like I'm getting a lot out of it by improving in skill or enjoyment in it's controls, but alas it's only "okay" here.

Bosses are just no fun. While they do make use of exactly what you have learned prior, more due to the volume of times you repeat the same tactics, they aren't very clever nor particularly fun. At the first boss I had to change the difficulty setting to easy simply because I wanted to get past it as soon as possible, which simply should not happen.

Collecting is the standard "get all the collectables on screen, and they did put some in clever or hidden places to try and reward for taking a greater risk or best using the abilities granted, but due to the only competent level design, it's not an added sense of fun nor do I honestly feel like there is much of a reason to do so outside of the achievements.

Art design and music is charming though, all work to tell a nice kid friendly tale without getting in the way for anyone who doesn't care for anything overly cheerful or young oriented.

I'm still going to beat it, I did promise, but I fully understand why many would not. It's no Superfrog HD, but it's not getting high marks either.

Hey guys. Posting this at the other side of a system reformat. Feel good, but there's still lots of stuff to be installed and setup. That isn't so fun.

I made a backup of some games on an external HDD. How do I move those games to the SteamApps folder and get Steam to recognize them? Will dragging those games to the SteamApps/common folder be enough, or should I use something like Steam Mover or something like that?

Use Steam Mover.

I didn't have any problems with the first 5 or so hours of Pid. If you're having issues with the game now... I can't wait to see what you have to say when you finally beat it. The game takes a sharp turn after a certain point. It's definitely a game that's too long for its own good.

other than the guy being overly wordy, neat video. It'll be great when 4k isn't going to cost an arm and a leg.

I recently went through a clean install after my HDD died. On one hand, it's a drag to reinstall what you need, but on the other, it's nice to have zero bloat whatsoever.

If you are playing she has 3 mins to save the game. You will kick her out pretty much.

you can kick her out if you want, but you can't both play games from your account at the same time

don't kick your wife :p

She tries really hard to say she sucks at games and would rather watch. Her actual gaming shows otherwise and proves to be better than my skill.

If I did kick her.......she would use that to her advantage. I would never risk it.

On a whim, I picked up Typing of the Dead on Steam Overkill last night and played through it. I think it took 2-3 hours. I actually turned up the difficulty to max after a couple of levels, which is very rare for me. I still never died, though I came within one hit of dying on a boss. I was usually only 96-98% accurate though so I'm not the most amazing typist. :p

But wow, that game has a lot of messed-up stuff. I was at least glad one of the characters kinda said what I was thinking at the end.
MAJOR SPOILER:
It's sad that both the female characters are killed off. I liked playing as Varla Guns more than Agent G or Washington.

Other than the bosses, which I simply just don't like, the thing is I can't even really call them problems. Some quibbles I think would be a better word to use because nothing in the game is bad and I am enjoying it somewhat, but honestly I just wish it was a bit better designed. Having plain white bread while wishing it was garlic bread instead. It does the job and could be perfectly fine, but it would be nice if it was a bit tastier.

I look forward to the sharp turn, out of curiosity if nothing else, but I'm hoping the challenge rooms is where the game steps forward in a direction that would be more appeasing, more seasoned, to my tastes. I also wish the game had SteamWorks just for the ability to create my own stages or download others as I do like the mechanics even if the game itself thus far hasn't challenged me.

Edit: Though I do like the brief moments, such as retrieving the limb section, where it was set up to defeat an enemy in a room with only limited options one had to figure out. Those were nice.

Another family sharing question...

Say I have this feature and so does my wife..can we share to each other?

And if I play a game on her account and she plays one from mine..no kicking will happen?

Any of you guys have Cold Fear on steam? Trying to figure out the best controller configuration for the game with a 360 pad.

Check to see what the default config for PS2 controllers was, maybe, so you at least know what the default for consoles was... might not be a 360 controller, but the DS2 layout for Cold Fear on PS2 (was it on original xbox?) will give you a decent starting point.

Did it work?

Normally if you have a game synced (and sync is supported by that game) if you delete a synced file it will automatically download it from the cloud. Unless you recreate that file, or delete while you are in game.

Where is the sync file and what is it called? Might be useful for later.

For this try, I just deleted the whole game. Not sure if the 20+ gb are done downloading yet...

I love that game.
I want the DLC, but they won't discount it.
And I love

Hrm, finally got around to trying DOTA for the first time.

Some nice graphics, interesting set up/design/etc.. but I don't think it's for me. For starters I'm on a laptop and the touchpad isn't the best for this sort of game.

Also, the text/shop stuff is fairly small/hard to see at a glance.

I'm glad I never got too far into the RTS/MMO scene, cause I can definitely see the appeal.

I know it's not the type of game for it, but I wonder how it plays with the Steam Controller.

Finally had time to finish Brothers in one sitting. Controls were terrible, puzzles weren't really challenging. But goddammit, it was amazing. There were so many times where I just had to take a screenshot and the story was great, highly recommend it.

I liked that part as well. It was probably my favorite of the game.

Good luck with the rest of the game. I'll definitely be looking out for your opinions on it.

With the tips from the video Grief posted here, I managed to beat that enemy in MGR. I think I'm getting the hang of it now, though I still can't parry to save my life. Anyway, it's a pretty intense and fun game, and I'm liking it so far.

Is stealth worth using? Or would it be better to always launch a frontal assault on the enemies?

I find mine in either My Documents under a folder named for the game, or within a folder inside My Documents called "My Games" and then game folders in there.

Random Steam overlay question: I've been running The Last Remnant in XP compatibility mode lately, as it seems to eliminate the occasional crashes I got before. Unfortunately, there's a weird side effect: it no longer saves any screenshots. I can Shift-F12 just fine (though I have to press it twice the first time, seems like Steam overlay needs to wake up) and when I open the screenshot section in the overlay, I see my screenshots just fine. But when I exit the game, I don't get the usual dialog to share shots online. If I check the usual location where screenshots are saved, I just see the two I took before I switched to compatibility mode. The other screenshots seem to be permanently lost.

Anyone else ever run into this? Any ideas on how I can get screenshots working? Or will I have to choose between occasional crashes and screenshots?
If the screenshot browser works in the overlay, can't you try uploading them from there before exiting the game?

Stealth is entirely worth using.
It just depends on your game plan and difficulty, I think.
The idea is that you should fight during battles that are graded and stealth everything else... especially on hard/revengeance difficulty.

Just another version of the previously linked gif.

I figured since we were OT anyways and posting gifs, one more wouldn't hurt.

People really don't need to see stuff like that in this thread, especially when browsing somewhere where other people are.
A talking actress is one thing, that... thing... (or the shit fantomena posted, or the weirdass almost porn from a few days ago) is something else.

Olivia Wilde gif?

I did it. I purchased Cook, Serve, Delicious.

Demo had me hooked, so I hope the full game is a suitably deep experience.

Such simple mechanics, but so satisfying to find yourself improving.
