I decided to cross the fog door and face the famous Capra Demon. Just half a second after crossing, the bastard jumped in with two poison dogs. He is an honor-less boss that doesn't have the decency to have a cutscene and brings lackeys to his fight. I expected better from you Capra, also you are smaller in person. He killed me a couple of times, but I learned a great deal out of those fights, he is slow, his swing with 2 hands is unblockable, the key to win this is to kill the poison dogs... also it seems to me he has a little weakness to a small power I carry... So Capra, I hope to fight your honor-less ass today, and I have a word for you:

Yeah I asked him to test out CoL's uPlay implementation for me.
I don't get why they do such a terrible job with it on Steam when Uplay is so unimposing on PS4. I guess they want us all to be building our Uplay friends lists.

New Indie Royale today
- Frozen Hearth
- Gun Metal
- Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space
- Gateways
- Orborun
- Hamlet
- Dark Sahdows - Army of Evil
- Rasternauts
2 of them aren't on Steam but I haven't had a chance to go through and look
This probably sounds like bragging, but I had no issue whatsoever with the capra demon. 3 characters on ps3 and on all 3 I killed him first try without trouble. All I did was bring a +1 or higher spear type weapon, run up stairs, get capra demon to fall down from the top, poke dogs to death while he's in the fall recovery animation (which he cannot break out of), and then do the stairs trick over and over while poking him till he's dead.
Rumour has it that the implementation in Watch Dogs is different (there's no client except for initial activation), but I'm sceptical. To Ubi's credit it has made some strides with how Uplay integrates with Steam; all it's sorely missing now is an auto-exit option a la Origin.
This is how it already works in Rocksmith 2014, thanks to a recent patch. You don't have to launch the Uplay client (at all) just perform a one-time Uplay sign-in in-game. So there is hope.

I have long asked why there is not a section for our uPlay username on our GAF profiles.
It's anti-competition and favoritism.
I dream of the day when my uPlay id of Dick253637828 can sit besides my Steam I.D. of xXGordonFreeman42069Xx
What bizarre is that some of the features that they implemented they haven't said too much about. Granted cloud saves are a bit fickle, as you can testify to but after initial activation you can set UPlay to offline (under the cog icon at the top right) and never have any of those pull you out of game issues if your internet connection drops out like it used to. Plus it's only 1 button press to close the client you picky bugger
Yesterday I didn't played a lot of Dark Souls due to a online date with a friend to play Metal Slug 3 co-op (I'm beginning to think I'm a masochist that enjoys games mistreating me).
So, my path on the world of Dark Souls continues.
I backtracked all the way back from that dark forest, killing Ents and made my way to UndeadBurg again.
I was lost for a while looking where did that Basement Key worked, at first I was confused because I had a "watchtower key" and unlocked a door near the place where I fought the Taurus Demon, downstairs there is this small but tough guy with a huuuuuge club. "Goddamn, that can't be the right path", I recovered my lost souls and swore to come back later.
Poolman to-kill list:
-The drakes from the Valley of the Drakes.
-That hydra thing on the forest.
-The red dragon on the entrance of the castle.
-The small tough guy with the club.
So I explored a little farther, and near where Solaire is I found this door that uses the Basement Key. Finally!
Went downstairs and fought some poisonous dogs, and several leaping guys from now on I will call Batrocs. After exploring a bit more and killing all that stood on my way I found a new fog door, but no bonfire on this area, decided to move forward and instead found a shortcut that leads all the way to the Firelink Shrine from the beginning. Also a lady zombie tried to sell me some moss. I bet she smells funny.
I decided to cross the fog door and face the famous Capra Demon. Just half a second after crossing, the bastard jumped in with two poison dogs. Mispricing in the UK; jump on it.
Haha, it's just that the option is conspicuously absent to the point of being silly considering Uplay games automatically start.
Ah, nice. Odd that Child of Light sports the "old" format, then.
Oh, while you're here, the next time you to go Valve, ask somebody why Gunman Chronicles isn't on Steam.
EA games again? Where's the Settlers, Anno and World in Conflict sale?EA just updated a whole bunch of subs (including the Bulletstorm ones lololol) so there's probably going to be an EA sale soon.
Looks like you are going about the game the right way. Exploring when you should using the clues and tools you have available. You are on the right path!
The guy with the club drops a great ring by the way, worth killing. Just a war of attrition as you won't do much damage against him.
The Ubi sale is on EU PSN this week.EA games again? Where's the Settlers, Anno and World in Conflict sale?
Yeah as far as I know, Rocksmith 2014 is the only game (so far) on Steam that does that, and Uplay was more or less "patched out", meaning that it initially had the standard Uplay client requirement.
Thanks.
It seems the game is finally "clicking" with me.
I will look for the tough guy, but my axe did little to no damage to him!
And it does seem weird that Gunman Chronicles isn't on Steam.

Valve owns the game, so it's not a legal issue, and there's a fan-made Steam patch that allows the game to run under GoldSrc 2003, so it's not a compatibility issue. Valve probably just forgot it exists.

I always remember it as the game that got away. I had all the boxes for the half life games - orange, green, blue, but I never found gunman chronicles game anywhere where I lived so I never got that yellow box to complete the set

This is somewhat off topic to this, but I feel like Valve should finance more outside projects.
Kind of what they did with L4D or Portal. Find an interesting concept, and bring it into the fold. Give them the budget and resources they need to make a great game with massive appeal.

Some games look nice, like the new Wolfenstein:
Some games have pretty bad readability due to having white text on a white background:
Others look OK, but could still cause problems with things like the recommendation box:
If you give me the measurements, we can make one in Photoshop and you can print it out on Cardstock.
I do something similar with GB/GBA boxes http://i7.minus.com/ibkV3IIIJ0OVnv.png
Goddamn I am addicted to Dark Souls 2... 12 hours since last friday. Loving every second and making great progress.
Alright GAF, I need some opinions.
I'm trying to make the store pages look nicer using their existing backgrounds but making them fit your window better. The results are promising, but obviously these backgrounds weren't meant to be this big - some look really stretched, while others look fine but as the result of stretching they cause some issues with the text on the page.
Here are some screenshots of what I mean:
So I'm wondering: do you think it would be okay as-is? These screenshots were taken at 1920x1080 resolution. If you had a 4k monitor the issues may be a little more pronounced.
As an alternative, I might be able to make another div and layer it between the background and text, and give it the same kind of blue "starburst" pattern that Steam is using nowadays.
Thoughts?
