Hmm. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is now out on Steam, it's $29.99 with a 15% off discount at launch for $25.49.

Does have the mobile version DLC stuff, but it's just costumes (and the game has some unlockable costumes in it as well if it's like the mobile version).

All DLC cost twice as the game itself, yikes.

All things considered Brink was pretty cool for it's day. Played a decent bit on Xbox 360. Too bad the launch was botched and Bethesda just gave up on the game.

Just got through my first playthrough of West of Loathing.

Impressions:

The story: You play a young adult who grows up on a farm, but decides it's time to head west and see the world. You start in the town of Boring Springs (a prologue town) before heading further into a sort of open world. Depending on who you choose as your sidekick, you'll have different quests, but the main story involves heading ever further west until you reach the town of Frisco.

The main story's premise isn't all too exciting, but there are lots of great sidequests and places to see in between. It's kinda like Fallout in that respect: you only end up doing the main quest when you're ready to end the game.

The audio and dialogue: People who know about Kingdom of Loathing know how witty the writing is. It takes cultural references from all over the place, letting you feel smart when you catch one, and there's also lots of sophomoric humour with flushing toilets and shovelling poop. In many places it's laugh-out-loud hilarious no matter what you find funny.

The music is appropriately western-themed. There's several good tracks, but I'd say the only thing it was missing was a track just for boss battles.

The graphics: It's black-and-white stick figure drawings, but there is a way to change it to black-and-sepia if you want it to look even more old-timey. Very simple, and yet effective. It's the Loathing style you've come to know and not loathe.

The gameplay: It's essentially a turn-based RPG. You pick one of three classes, and you can put your experience points into either stats or skills. Items can provide stat boosts (and in fact will provide the majority of them. By the end of my first run, I had put about 12 points into moxie, but with my items it was well over 60.) Certain tasks require skills at given levels, which it will helpfully tell you so you can put on appropriate gear to get to that level. West of Loathing contains the five elemental types as Kingdom of Loathing (hot, cold, spooky, stench and sleaze,) but they're not nearly as important in this game. There were a few things that required stench resistance and one that required hot resistance, cold and spooky were used by a handful of enemies, but I think I only saw sleaze once in the whole game. It might be more prominent if you play the magic class, but they could have used more of this. Still, it was a lot of fun to go through.

The length: I went through it in nearly 17 hours, but I was trying to do as absolutely much as I could in the first run. There is replayability (in order to get all the achievements you have to beat the game at least four times,) but subsequent runs should go quite a bit faster. I'd say if I wasn't trying to do everything, an average run would be more like 11-12 hours. I would have enjoyed a New Game Plus/"ascension" like they have in Kingdom of Loathing, where you can carry one skill forward into your next run and constantly improve. But alas, I guess that only works in an MMO style game.

The verdict: Packed with comedy and good gameplay (a rare combination in and of itself,) this game is well worth the asking price. Just get it already.

Humble Dusk Golem Bundle

Honestly people, BUY THE BUNDLE AT LEAST FOR THE $1 TIER. DreadOut, DreadOut: Keepers of the Dark, and Lakeview Cabin alone in the $1 tier are AMAZING games. Like, those three games are higher up there for me in the indie horror scene alone.

AC Origins environments really look stunning

ComplicatedBruisedGrackle.gif

AC games pretty much all look incredible for the time they come out.

That said, something about this setting just resonates more with me than anything they've done outside Black Flag. I need this game.

MGS3 too!?

This hilarious and sad.

Just sad. Nothing hilarious about the fucking SHIELD getting MGS2/3 HD while Steam/PSN/XBL/eShop don't have them ; ;

Great bundle, bought the BTA.
All I've to do now is wait for video card prices to stop being stupid so I can get one and play Alien Isolation decently.

I guess the only horror games I've ever played were Silent Hill and Resident Evil games. Maybe it's time I give the genre a try.

If you say the one dollar tier is good, then let's do this!
