Tried out the demo, and at the very least, this game is definitely charming as fuck. Far from clear that it has the variety or depth to sustain more than a few hours of gameplay, though.

Kinda? It's a lot like how SNES games would do map screens in Mode 7 by just taking the flat picture and tilting it, then placing the side view squashed sprites on top of it. It's isometric with perspective, but it's only a partially modeled representation as certain elements pop "up" from the map, while other features are totally flat.

It's weird.

I played the demo they released to backers and it was good. considering all the improvements I expect really good things from it. Plus it's gonna have a kickass OST.

There's not a name for it. It's sort of an application of a oblique projection to a perspective projection.

I never got a marker for grubs and I am not sure what you mean by special items.

You get access to the % completed shortly before the end of the game.
