STEAM | August II 2014 - Kept you waiting, huh?

No, I haven't.

The characters don't have redeemable qualities. One of the characters has a mental disorder and they hold it up as something noble and wonderful. The character - still while under this mental disorder - makes an irrational decision about their own life and everyone seems to put up with it rather than say "You know what? Maybe this person is not capable of making this decision. Maybe power of attorney is necessary here." Everyone acts like a selfish jerk and the only person I'm able to root for is a scientist who doesn't take anything seriously and who is intended for comic relief. There's no gameplay apart from a flipping puzzle with bad conveyance. At one point you have to activate all the squares on a white note - turning things from white to white. At one point you're asked a question about the Animorphs book series, and the correct answer is apparently wrong! How is it that the one bit of player-input interactivity - the only thing that required research - is wrong? It's like playing a game where there's only one puzzle, and that puzzle just happens to be cat hair and syrup makes a moustache.

And why do they make an issue about "pickled olives?" Pickled is the only way anyone eats them! So much so that we just call them "olives" - nobody eats them straight off the tree because they're practically inedible that way.

Just....FUCK!

You are perfectly correct. But the end is less about the individuals involved, and more of a moral dilemma. Plus getting back to the earliest memories can cause some sympathy for the characters.

So what happened to that guy who was going to open $1500 worth of chests? I stopped watching when he started having issues with Paypal.

GOTY is $19.99, I will try Fallout 3 only, sorry =d
Thanks.

The best DLC for Fallout 3 is Operation Anchorage.
It gives you a piece of loot that is just completely awesome.

The others, you can probably do without.

So what happened to that guy who was going to open $1500 worth of chests? I stopped watching when he started having issues with Paypal.

Paypal probably banned and he did some more on his credit card (while not too much so it doesn't get banned).
He'll keep going a bit each day on his credit card.
Overall, bad loot.

So what happened to that guy who was going to open $1500 worth of chests? I stopped watching when he started having issues with Paypal.

He got paypal locked, so he bought like 30 more keys with his CC and they were the wrong keys for the cases he had so he bought 30 cases for those keys and got a bunch of garbage, did $500 and I thinks he's going to do $500 tomorrow. He did though contract probably 100+ skins and on the last one got a M4A1 Cyrex (?) which is worth like $100+.

Every piece of DLC is great though. If you don't get them in the GOTY, and you end up liking Fallout 3, you'll end up paying more because Bethesda will do what it does and make the DLC more expensive combined than the GOTY.

So try not to like Fallout 3 if you do get vanilla. Although that's a difficult task.

Thanks. I was rather impressed by his nonchalance while burning through money like he was, until he mentioned that it had actually been donated to him for this purpose (presumably by his subscribers). So... some people pay him $1500 to open crates, some people subscribe to his channel while watching him do it, and then he gets to do as he pleases with the loot (keep/sell/giveaway etc.).

Gotta appreciate that hustle.

Took me like an hour to open my DS4, but I was able to switch the thumbsticks in the end.

Hello SteamGAF!

RIP me, I guess? :X

Uh oh... I haven't touched a computer today, I have no idea what's going on. I change my password all the time, too.
Yikes. A lot of us were wondering what was up. I'd contact Steam support and maybe see if you can see what your account activity is like, see if there is anything out of the ordinary.

I don't get alchemy in Skyrim. Am I just supposed to try mixing a billion fucking ingredients until I randomly stumble up the recipe to make a potion of worthlessness and use all my ingredients?

Anchorage is the worst imo together with the ufo one because it's so short and linear. Broken Steel is almost a must-have on the other hand because it continues the story after the end of the main game and Point Lookout gives you a new, rahter large island to run around on. The Pitt is okay.

Yeah the guy makes a crap ton of money streaming and in my opinion he's not all that entertaining lol, but I definitely respect his hustle, he's clearly doing something right.

Didn't eating an ingredient once give you an explanation as to their effects? Also, you can find and buy alchemy recipes at certain vendors.

But yeah, it didn't seem particularly thought out or useful, so I didn't use it much either.

We knew this was happening, but it's nice to have confirmation:

Iron Brigade: branches/steamworks_testing/description: Testing Steam matchmaking, etc

Awesome!

I really wanted to play that game but it was unplayable with my brother in co-op so we gave up.

Exactly!

If you eat raw ingredients, you get damaged, but can see some of the affects they have on potions. And you can find recipes for potions!
Or use the wiki!

RIP Momo-chan.

We never even got to start our co-op games. ;-;

Valve is tearing the co from the op! ;n;

jk hope you can sort it out.

I hope so, too! I contacted their support, but who knows how long it will take them to read my message! :X

Big Picture Mode overlay used to work with Uplay and now doesn't for some reason. I would blame that on Ubisoft though. I hate them so much

Still works here for all my Ubi games. Are you talking about non Steam purchased Ubi games no longer working with the BPM overlay?

Yeah, it's great, but really short.
Yup. Took me 2 hours. Apparently there is branching paths. Combine that with the player generated content and I'm ok with the length. I'm sure I'll play it a couple more times and get probably 5-7 more hours out of it.

Moral dilemma? I saw it all the way to the end, but they don't even discuss the moral dilemma with any seriousness. The senior scientist says "screw you, this is what's happening" and then that happens. Plus, the junior scientist is treated like a moron throughout the entire game, as if to imply his moral choice is invalid because he's just an idiot. (And maybe to say, if you agree with him you're also an idiot?) There isn't even a good ending/bad ending that allows you to choose the course of action for yourself. But hey, if there was a branching path, I guess that would make this a "game" and, well, can't have that.

I did get back to the earliest memories. Once they get back there, though, that's when nothing makes sense anymore.
Why does he unconsciously take on his brother's likes after he dies? I dislike olives, my brother dies, now I suddenly like them? Is that how taste even works? Also, once he sees her as a child, and they look at the moon and how they'll regroup there, why wasn't that the end of it? Why delete River? Wouldn't his desire to go to the moon be fulfilled now that he knows he wants to go there to meet with her? Just makes no sense.

Just TONS of stupid things. They played the pronoun game the whole time! That's irritating in movies, even more so in games.
Was River's autism so severe that NOT ONCE could she say "Give up? This blue and white rabbit represents the constellation we made! Remember that? Same night when you gave me this platypus?" Fucking hell, so much of his hardship could have been avoided if she opened her mouth for five goddamn seconds. Made me wish Eva had deleted River completely. He seemed pretty happy with just his brother, and it's not like she gave him kids. Maybe she didn't know how, or maybe she just wanted a lighthouse as her baby. I don't know.

Just...completely infuriating non-game.

So, I decided to play the Steam version of Metal Slug 3. The game is fun as ever, but maaan, this one is surely a pretty bad port/emulation job.

Most of the sound effects are weird (like the "GO" and "CONTINUE" effects), the music is sometimes laggy and I think I experienced some slowdown in the water part of the first level. Not disastrous, but surely annoying.

Not sure if I want the rest of the games if DotEmu wasn't able to do a good job with this one.

Or, perhaps I'm the only one and there's something wrong with my PC? :p

Kinda.
IIRC only the dialogue before and after is different, and you can replay those at any time. There's two possible final missions, though, and you have to replay the entire thing to play the one you didn't choose, but you can only have one of them at a time, which is pretty stupid.

OT: I need to vent GAF. (Don't read it if you don't care about retail)

So today I went into work to help do some interviews. I was helping my friends putting stuff back on the shelves while I was waiting for the applicants to show up. 2 Kids about 15 came up to me. 1 skinny, Asian and the other is a skinny Caucasian kid. The asian one asked me when Far Cry 6 was coming out.
I paused for a moment, cause honestly working in the mall. You have tons of people asking you stuff like is there a Mario game for Xbox. (they tend to not know much about gaming so I politely answer them)

But no. I was about to say, don't you mean Far Cry 4? But Then I saw him giggle with his buddy and asking me the same question again. Then he asked what about Elder Scrolls 7? at that point I lost it. I told him to get out of here before I beat him up. They knew for damn sure there was no Far Cry 6 or ES 7. But they had to fuck with me.
The asian kid started cussing me out. "OH you little p****. what are you going to do you bald headed glasses wearing gaming nerd? Beat me with your crutches?" I told him. "I won't even need anything. I could beat you up with two hands fresh off my damn surgeries." It's funny he called me a nerd when he look more like one with braces and big round glasses.

I had enough, I told him and his friends to get out of my store right now. He demanded to talk to the manager. Since I was the senior in the store. I told him. "I'm the damn manager on duty. Now get the fuck out before I call security." His face turned white, walked out and still called me names as he was walking. His friend begged if he could stay. I said "You got 3 seconds to leave."
They dare to came back later after an hour. the damn kid had the nerve to tell me I had no right to tell him I was going to beat him. Well my store is a goddamn place of business. I'm not going to entertain some punks with his stupid ass questions that he damn well know the answers to. I called security and had them escorted. I also took a picture of them telling them that they were banned permanently.

Fucking kids nowadays, parents don't teach them any manners. (Not all kids are bad. I also met some very nice and respectful kids today. Please and thank you and all that.)

It's length is hardly a weak point, the game is hella replayable!

I ended up somehow winning both raffles that I entered for it and I let Gvaz know about the mishap and i'm just going to pass the key on. If you win don't send me a PM saying thanks, send one to Gvaz

Also I tried nuking the key multiple times as per the FAQ and and it still wouldn't work so I ended up adding a "&" at the end as it said in the modbot FAQ. If there's an "&" in the key for the winner, just take it out when redeeming

I think it's a MAME wrapper or something. I think I've read that the slowdown is part of the emulation, which isn't uncommon in arcade games.

What does steam even consider Fraudulent Activity?
Was looking it up and the only thing I noticed was paypal fucking up for people.
Much like what happened for some PSN users.
