Steam Controller Launch Soon? Maybe.

Just checked my Steam wishlist.
Still says, coming soon. No dates, no nothing.

On the plus side, I got a notice that Prince of Persia 2008 was on sale for 1.99. :)

It's a pretty impressive controller, but I don't like the position of the left stick. It might be a necessity due to the touchpad.

I bet this controller influenced the features of the upcoming Elite Series 3. What's important is that it's going to have TMR sticks and a gyro, not just an accelerometer.

Hope so. It's the main thing I was excited for from their hardware showcase last year. As much as I love my dualsense's overall feel, the shitty ass usb-c port that loses connectivity if I breath wrong and how spotty wireless support in games can be, I'm ready for a proper PC controller again.

It would be really cool if the touch pads could be used for Pragmata's combat. So you control the hacking minigame with swipes.

you could "hack" that in manually with the Steam controller settings I bet.
map ALT to touching the touch pad, map the touch pad to mouse input.
if the game has no issue with simultaneously mouse and controller inputs then it should work.

EDIT: tested it on the Deck, and yup, it works pretty well.

what you do is go into the steam controller settings, go to the right trackpad, set the trackpad input to mouse.
set the sensitivity to around 250% so that you can easily reach each corner of a hack without having to lift your thumb off the pad

then map clicking it to R, that resets the hack if you do something wrong.

and map touching the trackpad to ALT, which initiates the hack.

here a short video from the demo showing me using this:

They should launch the controller now, forget waiting to launch alongside the machine.

Steam Deck is now completely out of stock in the UK because valve can't get storage/ram lol.

That is pretty cool.

Sooner it gets released the better. I almost bought an 8bitdo controller the other day and it was not the correct controller.
I'm in the market NOW for a new controller, my 7 year old Elite series 2 has drifted away.

I'm really curious about the Steam Controller, does it have haptic feedback like Dualsense?

4x haptic motors

  • 2x LRA haptic motors in trackpads for HD tactile feedback
  • 2x High output LRA haptic motors in grips for HD game haptics including rumble

I bought the gamesir 8k aimlab edition g7 pro. Best controller ever used all my life. No regrets
Beats the Razer controller Wolverine v3 pro I have.
I got the G7 Pro coming today. I've been stubborn about waiting for my launch Xbone controller to actually break. But last night my thumb stick cover fell off and got lost, because the OG rubber is completely worn off, and I thought, ok, I need to buy a fucking controller lol. Bastard just will not die! By die I mean any of the buttons or sticks lose any amount of functionality. It was just the golden sample in a generation that was widely seen as a bad controller I think. Not sure if that's good or bad luck lol.

Return the g7 pro. Get the 8k version. They fixed the 2 main issues with the g7 pro. The dpad is much better ( tactical now ) and they fixed the breaking issue with the triggers

I so wanted to get the g7 pro but I held off because of these issues. I am not aggressive with controllers but I don't want one to break on me for stupid reasons

Yeah I read about getting stoppers for the triggers. I've got some perfect foam nubs at work. If the D-pad sucks I'll give it a look. The only amazon listing I can find doesn't even have a picture. Where can I check out the 8k?

Their website ? Lol . It's on pre-order but usually 2 weeks delivery if you are in NA

I was hoping for better colors than the website had. Either way, I'll keep it in mind if I can't stand the d-pad. Thanks for the heads up!
The aimlab color is stunning. But man. These are faceplates. You can order and change them.

I love everything about this controller, except the no audio jack kind of poops the duck. I dont know why the puck didnt have a separate band than can house audio and controllers like the xbox adapter.

While this would be awesome to have, I had this same desire for a while (I ended up refunding the Gamesir G7 and got an Elite Controller, as I already have the Xbox adapter, with a 3-year warranty because the mic and overall audio quality of the gamesir was kinda shit), the response I always end up hearing is "who the fuck still uses a wired headset, just get a bluetooth one if you want one so bad". I have basically brand new HyperX Cloud 2s given from a family member, I'm not looking for something wireless.

It sucks but thats just how it is.

Common, be next month, same day announcement and release!

This will be THE PC controller, for me anyways. It's nearly everything I want.

I hope this will be a big success and companies step up and release adapters for the Switch/PS5/Xbox. I'm imagining an adapter that handles and applies profiles so you can have the full use of the controller(and maybe a multiplayer friendly mode?). This would be the ultimate Switch/2 controller if HD rumble and gyro were handled properly.

Not too big of a deal for me on PC with USB audio right next to my chair, but yeah, that is disappointing. I use the headphone jack on my PS5 pretty often when people are sleeping.

FFS I got impatient and just bought an 8bitdo ultimate wireless 2.
But I'm still day 1 for the Steam controller, I'll leave my 8bitdo for when I stream to my other TV via Apollo+Moonlight

Most important part is how it standardizes grip buttons, haptics and gyro so more developers add support. Dualsense is great, but few games support the haptics.
A controller without those features will be a lesser product.

Curious if you like it when you get it.

I've tried 8bitdo controllers twice and the shape is terrible IMO. It appears they have tried to fix it with their new Xbox "Elite" controller though.
