Steam Controller Launch Soon? Maybe.

Going to be 99. Pretty pricey, but its coming real soon

I mean, pricey? Not really when you consider what you're getting.

Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controller is about $110 and that doesn't come with the paddles, you have to buy those separately or you can buy the whole controller with the accessories for like $150.
PS DualSense Edge is about $180.

So for $99, you're getting 4 back paddles, gyro, 2 track pads.

I mean, it sounds like Xbox and PS are the pricey ones. Lol

Yeah plus trackpads and TMR sticks - so it won't drift, ever.

Sounds like we're getting a lot for that 99.

Oh yeah, that too.

Knowing Steam, the controller can be opened up easy and you can replace the sticks if they do happen to break. Unlike Xbox and PS where you need a degree in Astrophysics to replace them.

What's the upgraded key points from the original?
-Better Trackpads
-Better Gyro
-TMR sticks (don't develop drift)
-Capacitive sticks and grips, so putting your hand on the sticks with your finger or squeezing the handles can be bound to functions/keys/buttons.
-Bigger buttons, an actual d-pad and two sticks instead of one like a standard controller.
-Ergonomics look better too.

Higher than what me and my friend was expecting. I bet it would land in the $79.99 range which was $5 dollars higher than what my friend thought. Still getting it because I love the Steam Deck but I'm starting to think the Steam Machine is going to have a premium price as well.

My guess/hope for the controller was $89 so this isn't too far off.
Steam Machine was going to have a premium price as soon as the AI bullshit started. The bigger problem with the Steam Machine is outdated specs. I still want one but I can almost guarantee the price will be too high for what is roughly equivalent to 2020 console specs.

The good news is 2020 console specs will still be relevant in 2040. We've basically reached the end, everything can be scaled back.

I think it's prices about right with those features. Not too high not too low, I mean people are buying Xbox Elite 2 and DualSense Edge, and other stuff like Razer Wolverine V3 8K which starts at what $200?

I mean it hits sweet spot between bleeding edge stuff and decent pricing to me.

At least the Razer one has some modern features, but all the first-party "elite" controllers are horribly priced. They all have worse sticks, the Playstation one has worse battery life than the vanilla controller, and the last 2 elite Xbox controllers I've owned each had one of their LB/RB buttons break on me.

Kinda done with them, third-party controllers just do a better job for less, and at least Valve adds some unique value with the trackpads. $80 would've been great, but this is still cheaper than any of the elite controllers.
