Steam Controller almost topping the charts on Steam already. It begins.

I really like the idea of the buttons for your ring & pinky fingers.
I couldn't really see from the video, are there still two shoulder buttons or is that button essentially the trigger now?
This is something I have always dreamed of having as I love using a controller but I can't get used to the 'keyboard' part of the KB+M control scheme.
If the compatibility is as good as an Xbox 360/Xbox One controller, day fucking one for me.
Edit:
Day one it is lol.
5 meters of wireless range?
That is pretty terrible.
I'm so stoked for this. Never again will I have to ask if a new PC game has controller support. They all do!
I am going to buy the steam link and controller so i can sit in front of my tv playing pc games.
I bet Steam Controller 2.0 drops the analogue. As you can see even in this thread people need baby steps to something different.
Are people in the US doing it directly from Steam?
In Canada the order goes through the EB Games website.

I'm surprised at the enthusiastic reception of the device in this thread. It still doesn't look intuitive to me, but I probably thought the same thing about analogue controls the first time I saw them on N64.
Same here. I'm sure they'll let us change the address provided it isn't right before it ships.Haha. I ordered one then immediately remembered that I'll be living elsewhere by October once I find an apartment. I wonder what their policy on changing shipping addresses is.
Just preordered both the controller and steam link on steam. Bundle for $100. Really excited for this!
It looks promising but wouldnt your right thumb get more tired with the touchpad? I dunno
That's roughly 16 feet.

You can set the control speed however you want. I would imagine they are keeping it very low for aesthetic reasons. You don't want people getting sick watching your video.
Gaming with a trackpad. Yeah, no. There's absolutely no substitute for a second analog stick.
Looked crazy awkward having to slide around just to rotate the camera in The Witcher 3. It's like playing a 3D game on my macbook trackpad.
I wouldn't go thaaaaat far. The community bindings are pretty great, but there are still clumsy issues when manually binding keys vs a game designed with controller support in mind. Properly supporting controllers, especially in menus, will still be important on the developer side.
Do you have a link for the Link?
You can play city building games that are as KB/M heavy as you can get without issue. It's right there in the commercial.
As Grief said, there are thousands of games that will never get controller support. They will work with the Steam Controller.
Joke post? That is same thing as saying I will use my middle finger to move the analog stick on a 360 controller.
I thought the early birds would go a lot faster. I am sort of worried that some of these are simply going to get moved to the November date. Anyways, my order is in for both.
Thanks.
I bet they won't. I bet that people soon realize that tap and drag isn't a substitute for the movements and feel of a physical analog stick. This is a laptop trackpad morphed into a handheld controller, all the force/haptic feedback in the world couldn't replace physical, moving parts.
So is the shopping cart broken for everyone? Or just me? I'd rather order from Steam and use Steam wallet funds than from GameStop. I'm in the US.
I'm very curious and I hope it works but I'll wait for GAF to beta test for me.
Thanks guys!!!
Damn... Just read that this was for pre-orders and they would still be limited? Is either Steam or GameStop still taking orders for October 16?
Charge when it ships or charge now?
Charge when it ships or charge now?
Both are right now, but I don't know how long that will last for. The general release date after that is 10th November
Now on Steam, but when it ships for practically every retailer
If you order directly from Valve, you get charged immediately.
