Well, I'm excited for DOA5 on PC. More fighting games on PC the better, it'll help build up the PC as a platform where fighting games can do well.

Also, Primer is the best time travel film. I watched Steins;Gate recently too, and that had a very good time travel plot.

Primer is definitely one of my favourite time travel movies ever. It's so damn good. The second viewing was the best one for me though. That's when I finally got it.

Well if it was the 20% one it would be still better going VIP. The 25% off voucher would end up being 2 whole pence cheaper for FFIII or IV than the VIP deal if it worked for me. Of course I got PlayFire monies though so it's all gravy.

The Enhanced Steam Standalone beta has begun! This is a huge redesign of the alpha version and there are a lot of changes.

• Enhanced Steam is moving from alpha to beta, expect bugs
• Completely redesigned launcher
• More seamless user experience - Steam is Enhanced when launcher is running
• Enhanced Steam no longer requires editing your host files
• Added the option to minimize to system tray
• Updated the codebase to include more features
• Updated the codebase to work with the new Steam store layout
• Enhanced Steam will now check for updates automatically
• Enhanced Steam now requires an administrator to run
• The application is now Windows only

If you have the alpha version of Enhanced Steam Standalone, you'll need to remove it before running the beta version. Additionally, you may need to edit you hosts file (typically c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) to remove the two Steam-related entries.

Please remember: this software is still in beta and there will be bugs. I'll try to help resolve any issues you may be having, but please remember to be patient.

The beta can be downloaded directly from http://www.EnhancedSteam.com/standalone/. Please do not download Enhanced Steam from unknown sources.

Installation is simple, simply extract the contents of the ZIP file anywhere on your PC. Then simply launch Enhanced Steam.exe.

I forgot to launch it as an administrator, and as Windows works in mysterious ways, my administrator account doesn't, in fact, have administrative privileges. Anyway, it's working wonderfully nonetheless. I've nothing to report from the usage thus far as it's been damn well flawless. Also really glad to not have to use Firefox anymore, as I always have somewhere between 40-100 tabs open.

It is? I like it. I've always said Valve should copy Amazon in terms of discoverability. They aren't nearly as good yet but at least they are on their way now.

During the sale, definitely, everyone hated the layout. And the recommendations tend to be full of f2p stuff and even things from other regions when you already have a ton of games, and doesn't seem to really take into account "Not interested." Plus, we have this thread for "discoverability" in general. I like some of the update, especially the features they stole from Enhanced Steam, but I don't find it generally useful. But I can see how for the typical steam user it would be.

I think I'm very far from the typical Steam user, but I still find it more useful than the previous store front page. The previous one provided me with exactly 0 new information -- I already knew about pretty much every game that was featured on there before it was featured. Now, that's no longer the case, I actually find stuff in my discovery queue which I didn't know about.

Sure, a lot of it just has me clicking "not interested", but some of it doesn't. So it has value.

And that's before going into the much improved filtering/search.
