Maybe she just wants you to wait until she can give you the card. Waiting for the sale is solid advice, she's a Steam guru!

the great thing about this age is how, if you go completely digital, no one knows how many games you really own.

You can hide your deep dark gaming shame behind a digital wall and no one thinks less of you because you dont have a shelf full of your favorite metal gear games.

not that i've ever hidden that stuff before, but it's nice to know that my girlfriend will never be exposed to my 400 steam games in any tangible way

you can tell her to hide in a dumpster and i think the crazy spaniard dudes won't bother her but yea the game turns into a giant escort mission with some exceptions where you play as ashley iirc

i don't think the escort part is as bad as in some other games but i also think the game gets much worse when the town part is over

I will try to go into this next phase of the game with an open mind. It is my 4th attempt to get into the game (I know, I know) and it has clicked this time so I will try not to let my preconceived disliking for escort missions sully the rest of the game.

Right?! One day before the autumn sale, i told her i owned around sixty games and i might splurge on the sale. She asked how many of those ive beaten. I spent a good twenty minutes going through my list indivudally breaking down each one ive beaten and some games i own just because theyre old favorites that ive completed and want to own just in case i want to play again. She just said "okaaaaay." she just doesnt understand gaf

RE4 is one of very few games that does escort stuff right. Significant portions of the back half of the game don't have you escorting Ashley too.

Maybe having 60 games is not the issue in this story... :D

you don't have to justify your collection to anyone. She needs to accept that facet of your life, much in the same way i'm sure you accept plenty of things she likes without starting a spanish inquisition over what her deal is. Own it, it's you and if she likes you she has to accept that part of you.

Does anyone have any tips for Rogue Legacy?
I can barely break the 1k gold barrier and that's only on really good runs...

That is good to read. Is there a lot of game left from this point?
If you just got her you are maybe a quarter of the way through. Leading up to the castle there are hiding places for her in almost every area. She's with you for about half of the castle I'd say and they want her to feel vulnerable there. Then she's with you at various times in the remaining quarter of the game but rarely in danger really.

I'm not even that good. I would imagine the gist of the advice you'll get is "be better at dodging enemy attacks". It's a fun game, I just wish I was better at it.

Of course, the story was for comedic effect
although i really did that if only to justify my insanity to myself
Weve been together 2 years and she is genuinely interested in my interests. Shes not much of a gamer other than the occasional pac man and mortal kombat. I tried getting her into Papers Please since controls are relatively simple and she claims to have zero hand-eye coordination. Im thinking about getting Cook, Serve, Delicious because she studied culinary arts in school. The other day she asked me what my top five favorite games were and i was so smitten inside.

Anyone know how long humble bundle throttle will last? I have bought 2 tier2 and 3 tier1 bundle for friends, now when I want to buy one more bundle they said I have bought too much on short period. None of my pals have paypal, so they bought through me.

I understand the concern, but I don't do it for profit, so it kinda suck for my friend. Can I still buy if I change the payment method from paypal to cc?

The sad thing is I think half the damage I take is from getting too close to the mobs xD
The shinobi/hokage and the barbarian/king are carrying me through the castle right now but that's only due to 1hit kills or large amount of HP. The boss in the castle or other areas are our of my reach.
I think I'll fare better if I can unlock the spellsword and get a bit more distance between me and the mobs but I still have no idea what to focus on upgrading.

oh my O_O

damn

Cool. Maybe I'd give it a go if it weren't for the million pieces of fucken DLCs releasing every single day.

There are maybe 2 DLC's that are even worth a damn. The rest are only needed if you are really into the game. You can join any heist, regardless of which DLC you own...but you can only HOST if you own that heist.

It really isn't that big of a problem

...and there are 12 DLC packs. 2 of which are soundtracks.

My girl likes the nintendo stuff enough to occasionally play it on her own, plus she likes to watch things with decent ongoing narratives happening during gameplay, such as that ghostbusters game that came out a few years back.

She basically doesn't care for anything that isn't entertaining to watch, but really who could blame her for not getting excited over Advanced Warfare MP?

onto gaming, spent an hour or so playing Wolf TNO for the first time last night. It's weird, it both isn't doing anything new so far yet it must be doing something right because i want to keep playing it. I'm just surprised it's so COD-WWII era in the beginning, given that what i remember about Wolf2009 is that it didn't take very long for things to get supernaturally nutty in that game. So it just feels like im playing a long-lost infinity ward game with challenges, but i say that like it's a good thing.

Yeah, sorry for the hyperbole. I just can't find the time and patience looking up each DLC (not that I have to, but I'd like to know what I miss) when I'm about to commit to a game. I just wish it was more straight forward; what's cosmetic, what's real game content etc.

Thanks for the details though! What DLCs were worth a damn according to you btw?

My issue is that trophys/achievements etc. have totally broken my sense of 'completion'. For example, in Binding of Isaac I've beaten every major boss countless times -- I've definitely beaten the game at least 50 if not 100 times... but I'm missing a few goofy accomplishments so the game doesn't feel 'beat' to me. Worse yet, I don't actually care about that stuff -except- to feel like I'm done with the game.

That said, I'm also glad my wife has no idea how many Steam / ps3 / ps4 / vita games I own. Especially vita and steam.

Courier Mod is a good one to get.

There are 6 weapon packs that probably aren't needed (someone to clarify?)

There are 3 heist packs that basically allow you to host that heist. I think that's the only thing you miss by not having them.

In my opinion, most of the weapon packs range from barely useful to at least fun, but perhaps not "viable" on the highest difficulties. The only one that was a real game changer was the Sniper Pack due to each gun doing absurd amounts of armor-piercing damage. Got a hallway clogged with shields? No problem. Bulldozer on the charge? Meet the Thanatos.

Each heist DLC contains masks and some manner of weaponry - either a single gun or a series of melee weapons - but other than that you're right. So long as the host owns it, you don't really need it.

None of it is just cosmetic, mostly the titles of the DLC actually are correct. The Heist ones allow you to HOST a particular heist, but hosting is meaningless unless you're playing with friends.

The Gage weapon packs are just that: each one adds certain weapons you can use. Different people like different styles/weapons so at most I would expect you to want 1 of these (I went with Sniper personally because <3 sniping).

The Gage Mod Courier DLC is the closest to a "mandatory" DLC the game has, because it allows you to get good mods for weapons way the hell easier than the base game does.

Also keep in mind about a third or so of the DLCs listed are free and you get them automatically when you buy the game, they are just listed under DLC so you can see what they've added essentially.

Also, all the DLCs come with bonus cosmetic stuff I'm pretty sure in the form of masks and patterns for masks but unless you're crazy about options that'll never impact your decision to grab one. Also the DLCs tend to go on sale for same amount as the base game, which makes them way more tempting.

Does anyone have any tips for Rogue Legacy?
I can barely break the 1k gold barrier and that's only on really good runs...

Instead of focusing on progress look for chests. Only play a room if it has a chest in it, bypass enemies/rooms if there is no reward.

It's a hard game to give tips for, since the most success in a run will typically come from a run that just "clicks." I also found that the glass cannon builds were best in the early stages. They allow you to take advantage of the "clicking" run I mentioned in a bigger way early on.

As for upgrades, I focused on trying to unlock the different classes. Other than those, when possible, go for the gold! (Gold Up & Haggle so you can keep more after dying.) Then, I picked the classes that were focused on gold gathering and just went for $$$ runs. That $$$ went back into getting more $$$, or into Attack Up, so that the meatier classes became more and more viable and the glass cannons became less and less desirable.

I got a tip, GET GOOD!! Lmfaooo, jk I've never played the game. Is it fun at least?
....
Yeah, it's fun. Not only does the castle change the different classes also add to the variety so it never feels like your going in over and over and the game manages to keep a sense of exploration.
My only problem is some runs feeling useless cause I don't make enough to further upgrade my manor, I've gotten better at it so I can get a "minor" upgrade at least every other turn but the more impactful upgrades/gear/runes are still far in between.
If I could manage to get more gold more reliably I'd be having a blast with it.

It's been awhile since I played, but I remember running into a similar barrier for awhile until I managed to dig up enough gold to reach some unlocks that allowed me to survive longer. That gave me more time to learn how to react to and deal with enemies.

Just keep grindin', basically.
