STEAM | December 2016 - Winter (Sale) Is Coming Dec 22nd

The sales numbers for each event generally show diminishing returns against larger sales cuts. Steam has found its equilibrium and has no reason to go back to the old template.

Even then you can see that people arent like "us", even on GAF. We mostly know when and where a game gets discounted. A lot of Gaffers not from SteamGAF only know the sales and even if the game is 50% off instead of 66%, which was like 2 weeks before the sale, they think its cheap af.

Maybe - hard to say without a survey. Most people here seem smart enough to find their deals outside of Steam though. The average Steam user however, probably won't venture outside of the Steam store.

I agree with that last statement. Certain games could be cheaper outside steam before a winter or summer sale yet when you look at steamspy, the owner count increases only slightly like maybe 10K or less.

In this thread I would agree. But usually in the Sale-threads in Gaming, it seems that people not from SteamGAF dont even check other sales or even Steam not during sales.

Do I use my steam card money to buy an expansion pass to the goty or do I use it to buy a bunch of games in the winter sale that I will never play?

The DOOM season pass is not really worth it. I would go for more games.

Agreed, they really didn't anticipate what part of the game would be the draw and the season pass is all multiplayer content. Not what I'm interested in. And they keep piling on mandatory 10GB+ add ons for the multiplayer too.

Yeah, the patches are absurd but i am still pretty happy with the continued support after launch for free.
Arcade mode was a really good addition and it is the only reason i can't justify uninstalling the game.

I appreciate the support, but at this point the game's around 80-90G. As much as I enjoy the single player campaign at some point they're going to push the game over the space I have available and I won't be able to play the game because Steam won't launch it without downloading the patch. At this point I just want to power through the rest of the game so I can finally uninstall it and get my hard drive space back. They should make the multiplayer stuff an optional download.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst feels very bland. I don't like the new Faith at all, it's like all she wants is to costantly prove she is the best runner around and nothing else. The first ME had a better soundtrack and a much better plot, this reboot is pretty much useless.
Plus I think the main plot is very short, in 1 hour I did five story missions and there are 15 in the game.

Absolutely.
Don't the Call of Duty games do that? You have separate downloads/launchers for the single and multiplayer portions of the game. DOOM is pretty much already split up because it has to relaunch when you pick multiplayer or Snap-map. Having 3 launchers for DOOM might be too much but they could probably put Snap-map in the tools tab.

Why God why
It survived

The worst kind of porn, glad it survived.

How clunky is it?

From what I remember, there are three different sets of directional keys you need to use. The control for eating something is "up," but it doesn't say WHICH up. Fighting regular mobs is an easy enough button mash, but fighting bosses that can block and parry you whenever you try to do that makes it damn near impossible. I seem to remember needing to hit three keys at once (like down on one direction, up on another, then the H key in the middle) to do the correct maneuver.

Decided to idle for cards the last few days and sell them. Mine are hardly worth anything (.04 - .06€, not a single foil) but I already made a few Euro out of them. Speaking of cards, I don't recall receiving a single booster pack this year. Probably due to my low Steam level.

I'm also slightly disappointed that Capcom still hasn't added keyboard customization to SFV (at least it doesn't seem present in the leaked beta build). I got my hopes up when I read about the DirectInput support. Oh well, hopefully I won't need to wait for season 3.

Well that is the risk of using water cooling, it eventually starts to leak.

I started skipping the cutscenes about half-way through the game because I was barely paying attention to them when I did let them play. They slow down the story by making you run around the hub world a bunch, even with the fast travel.

I can't remember having any trouble with the controls at all.
I did play it with controller though.

My body is ready. And Jawmuncher's body should be too. Jurassic pARK

Oh, it's a VR game, I thought it was another expansion. Looks good.
They should finish the game, though, they said they would go out of early acces in June and we are in December already, I want a better AI for dinosaurs and being able to play as one.

While the name and logo screams ARK Survival Evolved, it seems to be a different game by a different studio?

Going through my 41 pages of steam cards trying make money for steam sale, some of the cards are so pricey! Bitardia (whatever that is) cards are selling for 40-50 cents each

That giant multi-page giveaway is too cool.

It's like when someone is being so nice to you that it almost feels like a "fuck you" because you can't compute.

maaan The Division is actually pretty fun

pick up gold edition now or wait for winter sale?

If you enjoy it, pick it up now, it'll be the same price on the sale for sure, there are rumors on a 2nd year content so i don't think they'll do deeper sale for a while
but play all weekend, if you still enjoy it, buy it

i bought it last sale and enjoying every second of it

The season pass is $20 on the uPlay store. Is that the same as gold?

the gold edition comes with Tom Clancy's The Division™ - Frontline Outfits Pack - http://store.steampowered.com/app/456280/

It's my fault, but all my cards are on hold till the 24th. Hope there's still some demand by then.

yeah, i'll wait til the end of the weekend to pick it up. i am trying to get my 2 PC gaming bros to DL the trial and play with me this weekend.

we've been looking for a nice, non-competitive PvE co-op game to play as an alternative to our Overwatch competitive matches. this fits the bill - with a bonus of being a wintery New York setting which is perfect for us right now.
