I went through the posting lists of this thread and the last and blocked everyone that I didn't recognize by name. You wouldn't believe how many people are posting here (apparently over 800).

Considering you're essentially creating a very selective whitelist from a blacklist you're probably better off just making a non-ModBot raffle for users of your own choosing and post the winner in the thread.

Considering you're essentially creating a very selective whitelist from a blacklist you're probably better off just making a non-ModBot raffle for users of your own choosing and post the winner in the thread.

I actually do this sometimes. But sometimes I just feel like using different methods.

If you sorted the list in alphabetical order you'd find out many users were blocked at least twice.

Doesn't the Blacklist feature work by determining which folks are blocked manually by users? Would be pretty amusing if a lot of people are suddenly blacklisted because someone attempted to essentially make a whitelist hahaha

Thing is, that I really don't like some of the people who only come in the thread, make five posts and take some games. My imagination is to have list of blocking a huge chunk of people that are not contributing to the community at all.

This is what I did. I copied the list of the posters in this and the other thread, deleted the postcount number and added BLOCK before them, while deleting who I knew. Obviously pretty sloppy, but it was only intended for that giveaway anyways at that point.

But how do you decide that? I recgonize at least 3/4 of the first 50 entries of your list and some of them are awesome people who contribute a lot. And if we make it a list created by the community we turn this into a popularity contest which will not end well at all. For a "private giveaway" just make something and send it only to people you want to include. ModBot is for the entire thread.

To clarify, I sincerely doubt that a single giveaway would be enough to cause people to got to the blacklist, but if a person has been blocked a fair few times and was also on that list, it is theoretically possible - assuming I am correct in that the blacklist option is a collation of people frequently blocked as is described -

Well, they are Chariot's games to raffle at the end of the day and his choice to include or exclude whomever he wants to win it.

That being said, doing a blanket block on so many and then asking the thread why some games weren't taken is like locking the door and then asking the people outside why they don't come inside.

Isn't it a little crazy to set a blacklist from people who actively post in here with only a certain segment possible to enter a giveaway. I mean all it takes is a complete newcomer who has never posted in a Steam thread before to swoop in, make 5 posts to qualify for the no lurker rule, maybe even throw up some bundle junk to get past the pay it forward rule and walk away and never come back here again while x amount of active members are ineligible. Not that it's any of my business though.
