Well, some good news. Alone in the Dark: Illumination is, in fact, not terrible. Actually, it's kinda fun. There's a lot they need to fix to make me be able to recommend it, but they do have the groundwork of a fun and actually kind of unique in areas game, if they polish it more it can be something pretty good. Posting a topic of full impressions in the next hour.

Do we not know that? What's the last episodic game involving a major publisher that didn't get released? I feel like the only ones that haven't were pretty niche products. Certainly not games that are getting released on every platform under the sun.

Well, leaving aside Half Life 2: Episode 3, my point was simply that you're taking a risk by purchasing the entire season right now. It may be a minor risk, but it's still there. The later episodes may not be very good. They may be delayed for some time. They may not even come out.

guys this isn't the first, nor will it be the last time you don't get pre-order keys upon actual release from GMG...

caveat emptor

Good to know. Was looking intersting to me.

They're not that I'm a aware of. It's a reference to
Gone Home
and Blue is the Warmest Color.

I suppose that makes sense. Your initial description of "lesbian high school time travelers" sounded like the name of a porno, so it took me a few seconds to figure out what you were talking about.

yea it's not about the game (i don't really care about that game), just don't like that practice

I tend to agree. At least when DLC is added the first time, the fact that it wasn't developed as part of the game is justification for charging extra for it. But when a game is ported to another platform years later, it is literally no extra effort to just include all of the DLC in the base game. So they're just charging extra because they can. I mean that's capitalism and all, but I think it would be better for them to throw it all in as a way to make up for how late the port is.

Well, my comment comes across as rude without proper context, here is the first trailer for the game. They mention GH in a quote from someone.

The publisher wants people to think about Gone Home, maybe for its nostalgic trip, but there are two female high schoolers who are friends.

Half-Life 2 Episode 3?

Edit: I see now that I've been beaten. I am shamed.

yeah they just can get away with it, so they do it

i'm not a fan of that kind of mindset

Sigh. such a conundrum over Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth. I played the original version of it back when it first came out on PS3. I thought it to be one of the worst games I'd played in a while, between a mediocre battle system and repetitive dungeon crawling full of reused assets. I'm also really not a fan of lolicons either which seemed to get progressively worse as the series went on. Yet, I feel compelled to get it, if only to support JRPGs on Steam. >.>

To be fair, it's not that I don't like it, apparently this version was redone. But I'm unaware of how much they redid with it. It needed a lot of work, honestly.

At least as far as I'm aware, Rebirth is a remake of Hyperdimension Neptunia?

You missed your chance with Cladun now they're MIA. :p

Why didn't NIS test the waters with Disgaea. I really wish I was a fly on the wall in some of these conference meetings that make decisions like putting a super vague game like Cladun on Steam. Damn, it's like these fools like to attempt failure. Same with this Continuum Shift Extend crap from ASW.

Yeah, you'd think an SRPG like Disgaea would be a perfect candidate for a PC release. If Valkyria Chronicles can find success on Steam, I'm pretty sure Disgaea could, too.
