Damn, this is the time I say I've never played a Doom title xD

For the downloads: while in the client go to settings, choose the downloads tab and there will be a drop down option to allow/block background downloads while in game.
As for Family Sharing I've never tried it before, mainly because I've heard this type of things happens semi-often.

I know where to go and how to do it, I'm just puzzled things have changed.

Taking about Anime VN games being released on steam is more anime talk than steam talk? should we ignore the anime games that are being released just because you don't like them?

Some of us like anime, and like VN so we get excited when a new VN game comes to steam and we discuss it. Fortunately for us it seems more and more VN and anime games are making its way to steam

The same thing happens with other genres, for instance when a new fighting game gets announced or released on steam and people start talking about arcade sticks and shit, or when Dark Souls 2 got announced/released the thread was basically page after page of Dark Souls 2.

I guess for people who don't like that kind of games it must have been bad when the thread gravitated around those games or genres, but for some reason it seems people only complain when we talk about VN games.

/rant.

If it was just this sale, I wouldn't be bugged all that much. But it's been feeling this way for the past few months. I feel less and less welcome.

Do you have Doom 3 BFG? That one contains both Doom 1 and 2. I've tried a few levels of the original on that and it seems to run/play pretty well.

I do. Is there a difference between that and The Ultimate Doom that I have?

What exactly are you talking about, Woo? I'm no on when I sleep or are busy and sometimes I'm unable to skim through what was posted, maybe I'm not aware of something?

Shifting balance argument is funny, there was no balance, as not so long ago there was literally no "anime" games on steam, well maybe 5-6 there were. Of course it's different now when these are present.

I never could understand why people that don't like anime must hate it so passionately, even if I do agree that most anime (these days) and VNs are crap, I still don't extend it to all area, because that makes no sense. And people can and do like all kind of crap games and shows not only anime and have right to talk about it as much as anyone, no?

Yes, this right here.

We are not spamming random anime pictures or talking about unrelated anime shows. There is an upcoming anime sale on steam, so of course the games and the topic anime are now part of the discussion. And I am sorry if I talk too much about If My Heart Had Wings, but this is a game I currently play on steam, so I thought the steam thread would be the appropriate place.
That is what I object to. Do anime GAF not have their own thread for such discussion?
AnimeGAF is a place for actual anime series or movies, not for games.

If you also have Ultimate Doom, then that is most likely the best option for the extra levels and bits. For someone like myself, who is not exactly the biggest fan of the franchise, the BFG versions suffice.

Edit: I like my Anime-style games more along the lines something like Snatcher/Policenauts. It's the cyberpunk style, and those two would look nice on my Steam list. Konami don't care, though :(

Since it seems everyone in this thread loves anime so much:

They have the same episodes in them.

The BFG edition has a couple of things changed such as the icons on medpacks (no longer red crosses) and Nazi references are removed.

The Doom wiki says
"Runs at desktop resolution on PC with minor graphical improvements.
Improved, more responsive mouse and keyboard controls.
Improved and smoother animations at 120hz.
Improved controls for Windows Vista and Windows 7. "

Although the last time I played through Doom, I used ZDoom.

Well as I said in my last post it is the off topic chatter that I object to as it is tiresome wading through all that to actually get to the actual Steam discussion. My original post about this quoted Doc's post about it as it gave me a spring board to air my annoyance.

I don't hate anime. I don't dislike it. I am indifferent to it. If someone loves/hates anime that's their business. I have no desire to tell anyone else how they should feel about anything. It's the wading through a mountain of off topic spam that I object to. Hopefully that clarifies things for you.

Thanks, just one more game and I have 1600 games. Maybe the anime sale will have my 1600th game for sale :)

Wasn't this posted hours ago? UNless it's a new video.

I searched for it before I posted it. Didn't find any matches, but it probably depends on how I searched

I don't get this separation between anime and non-anime games. A game is a game and should be judged on it's own merits.

Why doesn't Valkyria Chronicles get hate? It's an "anime" game after all...

And people who call all of anime, be it games, movies, shows or whatever bad just because it's anime or has a anime like art style are just plain ignorant imo.

Sure, the japanese animation industry tends to produce a lot of crap, but so does hollywood and so on. It's just an art style and there are more than enough great and more mature movies, games and shows for people who aren't in that fanservice, moe stuff and so on. It's not my cup of tee either.

But I will fight anyone who ignores masterpieces like Ghost in the Shell or Perfect Blue or something like that just because there "anime", there great movies and thats it.

Sorry for being OT, and I usually don't care for most of the petty discussions on this board or this thread but the ignorance for an entire art form (and no, I don't mean porn VNs) that is displayed here from time to time just gets me somehow.

I agree that we had situations where it was in no way steam related, but this isn't one.

So discussing Steam's game ratting and their unwillingness to let adult content on the platform despite having a Adult Only rating by ESBR is useless chatter?
Discussing games that are about to be on sale is useless chatter?

wtf why would they do that to the medpacks

It''s interesting that out of all the off-topic chatter that goes on (3DS, WiiU etc), anime is the only one where posters can't wait to write up their rants about how talking off-topic is bad. These people don't seem to say anything when other off-topic chats occur.

Personally I don't care, this is a Steam "community" with other interests too. Most discussion is about Steam, who cares if half a page is dedicated to something else?

His eyes. What the fuck is wrong with them?

that was my first reaction when I've seen this game on greenlight first time, it's hella scary, it has to be a horror game (><)
not only his eyes, though, check this if you dare!

GRAV looks like what StarForge was supposed to be. Hopefully it won't suffer the same fate.

I was interested in GRAV, until they applied for EA, now I'll wait until it's finished.

I don't post here often, but I follow the thread and I don't get the anime/non-anime debate. The thread's in community now, which is a much more lenient place regarding off-topic stuff, and even if that wasn't the case, I remember people spamming Bayonetta gifs and talking about it a lot like one month before the game release, a non-anime game which has nothing to do with Steam. Or people talking about what they ate for launch. That's why I don't get the particular issue about "anime" stuff, seems like a gripe towards that one thing in particular.

If a game is on Steam then I have no issue with it being discussed. I am not objecting to the discussion you mention over the last few hours so much; it is the omnipresent nature of anime chat in SteamGAF now. If some SteamGAFers are into that, great but it tends to dominate the thread. My irritation has been growing for days and I've only been back from a self imposed absence of over 6 months for a few days now :/.

I could just take myself off again and may well end up doing that but decided to comment on it to see what would happen since raising this sort of issue with regard to SteamGAF has proven fruitless in the past.

Actually, I am going to log off now as I am far too irritated to discuss this right now. Anyone who wishes to discuss this with me may do so via PM or in Steam Chat although I cannot promise an immediate response.

Apparently XB1 sold less than 1k last week in Japan.

This should mean Japanese companies will embrace Steam more and more, right?
Please say I'm right

not really, they'll stay with iOS
I'm sorry...
but we can make a difference as VC proves!

Interestingly, despite having tons of Nazi smybols the previous two games aren't runprohibited in Germany.
The things German gamers have to check :/

I didn't know there even was a third one.

Played a game "for real" in months last night/morning... Dark Souls. And went to bed immediately. I dreamt of it ;_;

Oh btw I meat the guy from the sun memes in the game. Haha. He didn't make the pose though. Right after him there is a red dragon which I cannot figure out to beat. I spammed arrows under the bridge but after 40% damage he magically regenerates :/
I tried luring him away and run to the fireplace but that fucker turns back waaay too fast and flames me.

Did I tell you I beat all bosses so far on first try? I did but I just want you to know again :3

Yeah it's dumb and makes no sense. I stayed clear of the thread a bit because I was tired of the DOA gifs being posted recently and quoted by so many people. Only saw a few small complaints about the gifs but now the thread went a bit "whoa anime, takin it too far guyz".

Why? Aren't they already selling well?

I'm talking about when it releases on Steam, not the current release. If this games quirkiness doesn't sell at all on the marketplace, other Japanese publishers may be wary of ever porting to Steam in the future.

No more kemonomimi lolis on Steam.

No more Waifus.

No more HBaikal crying rape.

In other news I've become completely hooked on all things Borderlands and can't wait for a BL3 announcement.
Yeah, I guess they're good games if you weren't hyped for it.
I remember enjoying my time with the og Borderlands when it was a monthly PS+ game. I'm considering grabbing the GotY edition on steam to see what all the fuss about the dlc is about.

The Red Cross complained about "abuse of the symbol"

That's pretty much correct. It's basically trying to protect a copyright so it doesn't fall into public domain by common usage. They HAVE to contest these things apparently. I've even heard about the Red Cross protesting about the use of the red cross on nurse hats in porn.
