What are games release since Versus XII has been in development.

Crap. This was taken by SE themselves during a conference about a year or so ago going over the faults of the FF franchise and how they can fix it going forward. They know they dropped the ball during HD development big time, but what i see is still a large shift in priorities toward mobile over all else because they fucked up.

Wait the PC label was there or is new?

New, possibly. I can't get a Google Cache of that particular URL on Google and the wayback machine couldn't crawl it when it attempted it in 2013 to get an "archive" snapshot.

All Final Fantasy games up to XI were amazing (with VIII having varying levels of the word "amazing"..) The rest are trash.

I agree that the games on that poster were amazing. But nobody can deny IV and VI.
Probably is fair to say that was a golden age in popularity/sales though. Reliably doing millions and being a big deal on all shores, and while the fanbase was divisive it was still largely positive, and I think many of the naysayers (though not ALL of them) still enjoyed the games a great deal even if they preferred the SNES or NES titles.

XIII though, that probably does have a lot of legitimate hate and even many of those who aren't fully down on it feel it was disappointing given the wait, what it could've done to be "next-gen", and just plain failing the standards of what many have for RPGs for one reason or another. Then there's the initial release of XIV which was an abomination by any standard and how XV came about because it was vsXIII stuck in development so long that it was more practical just to relabel the damn thing.

This was utter shit on the PS3, but 1080p60 and mods might save this on the PC.

shit is still shit at 60 fps and nexus modders won't have to go to painstaking lengths to get their garishly awful anime characters implemented as the game already does that for them

Well, everyone likes different Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy XIII has fans, too.

My favourite Final Fantasy games were the 16-Bit ones.

It's cliche but 7 and 9 are still my absolute favorites.
Still haven't come around to 8 and that junction system.
10 and 10-2 I need to replay on my vita at some point. Never beat them.

Excluding FF12... Especially the International version which gave you a redesigned license board, limited "job" one-time-pick License Boards, level 1 ONLY run, level 99 ONLY run... etc.

Game is not bad, it just seriously lacks the momentum of previous entries in the series. It is most definitely my least favorite Final Fantasy game, but it's not terrible like many people make it out to be. I will double dip if it's released on Steam, mostly because it will be drop-dead gorgeous and the soundtrack is wonderful.

Maybe (with the help of some mods) Lighting Returns can actually look like it didn't get a massive downgrade in visuals on PC.

Well, I like the idea of more Final Fantasy games on Steam, but I sure are hell won't be paying for FFXIII a second time.

XII trash? Absurd.

I'm sorry. I wanted to like it. I truly did, but I hated it.

The characters were the worst in the series (until XIII of course! But at least that game has Sazh..)

For crying out loud, Hiroyuki Ito, directed IX which is my favorite game of all time, but also partially directed XII, so I really did want to love it.

The last time I played this game was in 2007, so if XII comes to PC one day I'll gladly give it another try.

It's got one of the most loathesome cast of characters I've played in a long ass time.

Yo I think you got cause and effect mixed up there.

(Real cause all jokes aside are more cultural than anything)

SE said they initially tried out mobile and handheld priority to make extra money for their HD development costs after FF14 1.0 bombed, which really damaged the company. But they just kept on going in that direction and less priority given to the console space in general.

Its because they failed that we have to put up with this now.

People who choose to still be mad about FFXIII deserve to remain mad.

FF13 is an alternative source of guilty pleasure whenever there are news about it now lol. Wait till next year when they announce it for new 3ds and wiiu.
In two years time they will announce it on Linux or something.
Lighting will not be forgotten.

This ain't wrong.

Soundtrack is top class though. Best soundtrack that Square's put out in years.

Whatever, I sure as hell ain't buyin' this. FF13 is terrible.

I'll buy them. I love how some people don't want the game on Steam because they don't like it. So no one should be able to play them on PC with a good frame rate, right?

Alright man you've convinced me that you're a closer source to Square Enix than I am.

I bow to your insight.

FFXIII has high momentum, that's what separates it most from the previous FF games, which tend to have poor momentum if anything.

This is true. It's a rare problem because FF13 needs to fucking slow itself down from time to time and explain why what's happening is important, which it never does, which results in half the cast being completely throw away.

"WANNA KNOW WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT? READ THE FUCKING CODEC, WE GOTTA GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I bought 2 versions of both FF13 and FF13-2.

The english releases which I soon discarded for the Asian releases cuz I couldn't take the
shitty voice acting + childish script.

To imagine I'd be buying the games for THIRD time is amazing haha.

Hah I borrowed 13 from a friend and thought it had potential; I assumed the bad writing was a localization issue.
So I imported it, to find out that the localization was actually pretty much spot on.

Here's hoping they give us Japanese options though, that'd definitely make me buy it to support that.

XII trash? Absurd.

I know, I loved XII--breath of fresh air. It actually felt more fantasy-oriented since it took place in the world of Ivalice. Loved the bazaar town early on, the environment designs, and the multitude of different races. I had a lot of fun with it.

I did not, however, like XIII. I... just felt it was so tedious and the battle system--for me--was anything but fun.

PC gaming brothers and sisters, if you're hungry for a great jrpg on Steam you're better of with Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.

Consider yourselves warned.
