I've tried to play through FFXIII on PS3 twice now, but stopped for some reason or another. I'll definitely double dip and give it another shot. It should look and run amazing on PC.

$19.99?

That's not a bad price for joke gifts as soon as it's 75% off.

I was just discussing this with my friend the other day, if you wanted to be a real bastard you'd tell someone you were buying them a good game for their birthday/Xmas only for them to unwrap it and find Lightning Returns. I know what I've got coming to me this holiday season!

That was my favorite FF since XII. It's no gag gift.

Grandia III's story was really disappointing to me.

I was such a big fan of Grandia. Tales of Destiny, Tales of Eternia, and Grandia were my favourite RPGs on the PlayStation.

It's hard to compare Grandia III and Final Fantasy XIII. Because I liked and didn't like some things about them in different ways. Grandia had my favourite combat of the Grandia games, and it had really great characters, which are my favourite part of RPGs.

But in Grandia III the combat got kind of tiring to me after a while. While in Grandia it was always fun. But that might be that I liked the characters and that made me like the gameplay more.

In neither Final Fantasy XIII or Grandia III did I like many of the characters very much. But I do like the art style in Grandai III more than Final Fantasy XIII. While Grandia III is nicer than Final Fantasy XIII in that Grandia III isn't as linear. Final Fantasy XIII became really repetitive.

What Final Fantasy XIII did really well was being cinematic. So having it on the PC will be really nice because it will look really pretty on the PC with nice graphics cards.

Nice. I always wanted to try this game but I ended up selling my PS3 before playing it. I want to check if it is really as bad as people claim it to be.

Played a lot of 13 and 13-2. Both are very enjoyable IMO -- far better than they're given credit for. Really, really want an FF12 release on PC, Vita, PS4, whatever -- something modern. Never got to finish my copy and it's hard to fathom how long it has been. If you haven't played 13 yet, enjoy!

Uh, that's a very low bar. EDIT: And kind of an insult to ARR!

I liked it significantly better than the low bar that I agree was set by XIII and XIII-2.

Almost no one played it. There simply wasn't a large enough conversation over the game, so it's greatly underrated.

And I did like it more than ARR, because I prefer offline jRPGs to MMOs. As an MMO, ARR is ace, though.

Square just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about console gaming culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in pc gaming where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in consoles, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the console gamers, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase FFXIII for any system, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and cancel FFXIII for steam or you can kiss your business goodbye.
Used in the correct context as well. Thanks for the lols.

i'll get it...so they won't change their minds about bringing the other ff game i'm interested in. hopefully it's at least fun to play

It's really linear and repetitive. It really does feel like a hallway like some people say.

It's kind of like a tech demo for the PlayStation 3. It was really focused on graphics and a lot of other parts of it weren't as good. I respect games like Tales a lot more than Final Fantasy XIII. But then I really really respect Wolf Team and I've liked Tales more than Final Fantasy since the PlayStation.

I kind of wish Tales was as popular as Final Fantasy. Because I think it deserves it. I think Tales deserves to be more popular than Final Fantasy. Because I think it's better, or at least it's a lot nicer to me. And it makes me sad that Final Fantasy XIII sold over a million copies, when I think that games like Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Xillia and Tales of Graces are so much better.

But aside from that, it does have a kind of interesting story. I think that the story and the characters in Final Fantasy XIII are kind of a little underrated by some people. Especially at the beginning.
They do a good job of being cinematic and making people curious about the plot and what's going to happen and why horrible bad things are happening to people.

For the first time ever, proper context.

I will lol so hard if they use the CGI scenes from the xbox version.

the CGI and in engine prerenders had terrible macroblocking even at 720p...blowing that up to 1080p or above would look absolutely unnacceptable. It was worse because they were 75% of all the cut-scenes in the game

Miranda was the true "mom's are tough" mom ;___;

There is something respectable with, "OKAY! Mom found a boyfriend, so we're outta here! HAVE FUN SAVING THE WORLD KIDS AND DON'T SLEEP WITH EACH OTHER UNTIL YOU GET HOME!!!"

It was funny. And then you actually never see them again and it's like....oh, huh.

I can just see it happening for some reason.

I really can.

I'll take it. Hated to death the linearity of XIII, but the combat was really fun (except for the Adamantortoise farming part).

I love Final Fantasy XIV. It's one of my most favourite Final Fantasy games in a long time.

While Final Fantasy XIII is kind of like the opposite of what I like in Final Fantasy games and Japanese RPGs. In Final Fantasy XIV it's an open world where you can do any fun things you want, there are different races and classes, and it's a fantasy setting with magic and castles and things like that.

I even liked Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 more than Final Fantasy XIII. Even though so many people really really don't like it...

And Bravely Default is one of my favourite Square Enix games recently, too. I like it much more than Final Fantasy XIII. I wish they would make new Final Fantasy games more like Final Fantasy XIV and Bravely Default.

But even though I'm not a big fan of Final Fantasy XIII. I still think it's neat to have it on Steam. And I will be happy to buy and support it.

I feel like the Lightning trilogy is the Star Wars prequels of gaming.

Massively hyped, then massively backlashed against. It's a series people love to hate on, and they won't ever stop picking it apart. Hating it and explaining why it sucks is a fan's beloved pastime.. But at the same time, it's not a series devoid of merits. There is a lot to love in it. Great visuals, astounding music, awesome fights. And just because it's gotten all this rotten response doesn't mean it shouldn't be experienced.... on the contrary, it's absolutely must see, if only so you can soak in the spectacle and then join the neverending conversation on the internet later on.

Plus I'd say the similarities continue in that the first two are pretty mediocre all around... but the third is divisive, and amongst the haters who say it carried on the stink, you actually have some wierdos who think it's good - nay, great.
