Watch Paint Dry was able to use several exploits to get past Valve's system, which would lead me to believe that he would be able to bypass the virus detection too.
Didn't Dusk Golem said something about that Valve did check for virus before approving a app?


Edit, just read the post: itsnothing.gif? He says they don't check for virus because one specific antivirus checks their game has a false positive. That means literally nothing. It's in no way proof that Valve doesn't check for virus.

I'm not so sure about this, actually. I've uploaded files that consumer AV solutions flag as unsafe through heuristic analysis to services like google before, who claim to do server-side verification before allowing the file to go live, and never had an issue. Just because users are experiencing something being incorrectly flagged by their own software doesn't mean that Valve lacks a scanning process during or post upload.

Edit: I originally came here to post that Wuppo is amazingly cute. I wanted to try the demo, and the game is so charming, with cute graphics and audio, funny dialogue, gamepad support and all, that I am considering buying it now.

I mean obviously we're just taking this guy's word for it on his own personal experience working with Steam's developer back-end, so you're right it could be nothing. He may not understand what exactly is happening on the back-end in regards to scanning files for viruses, which also suggests that Valve isn't up-front about this to developers (or maybe this guy just isn't paying attention, who knows).

I've had the same issues when I released Idle Master, and it's quite the pain. While I never had to deal with uploading it to Google or others, a lot of "heuristic analysis" sometimes simply comes down to whether or not the executable file is signed. It's entirely possible to sign an infected executable with a signing certificate.

And for the record I'm not saying that Valve doesn't have something in place, I'm just saying it's interesting that a developer has spoken out on the subject and what that implies.

weird...I'm taking the wait and see approach on Gears for PC...the Ultimate Edition buyers get to play it early and I'll wait and see how the game is for them before I worry about downloading...if it's bad then I won't download it right now

I can't even get my Gears 4 preload to start. It just gives me an error telling me to try again later because "something happened at their end". Very helpful.

Meanwhile, Mafia 3 is downloading just fine. Didn't expect it to be 40gb though.

Disney Infinite 2.0 has been purchase disabled
Disney Infinite 3.0 has gotten all the DLCs removed




The games are going offline and they are working on versions that will work fully offline.


If you purchased any DLC from Infinity 3.0 you will get the Gold Edition with all playsets characters and power discs.

Welcome to the Windows Store Experience. It's the same shitshow with every game month after month, patch after patch although some people always get lucky and get to download without issues.

I don't understand how hard it is to create a downloader that works reliably but based on evidence (ie. everyone else manages it fine), I don't think it's too impossible a task for a company with 100k+ employees. Surely someone would figure it out.

Curious, I have the DLC for PC on Star Wars, but I did it via entering a code. Does that mean I'll get the gold edition?

Dude I gotta ask you a question. Every single time I check my friends list you're always 'playing' Idlemaster. How have you not run out of cards to farm yet and do you ever actually play games? :p

I don't understand how hard it is to create a downloader that works reliably but based on evidence (ie. everyone else manages it fine), I don't think it's too impossible a task for a company with 100k+ employees. Surely someone would figure it out.

Yup. Maybe I should wait for //build or heck, give them another 12 years or so to get their act together because remember how terrible Steam was in 2004?

I'm assuming at worst you will get the Gold Edition outside of steam, but you should still get it.

Haha, sorry about that.

Generally speaking, there isn't a time I'm not idlein' I am a frequent buyer of bundles so the idling practically never stops.

Last game I played was Owlboy a week or so ago, but I started a newish job recently and I have a lot on my plate before I automate/audit/monitor this place to a point that I only seldomly need to check on it.

That's fine, the Steam version doesn't support 4k resolution and was kind of broken. Hilariously, the UWA version of Infinity worked perfectly on my 4k monitor.

I installed Final Fantasy Brave something on my Kindle and I played for 2 hours.
It's a very well done title, and for now it feels like you can proceed with no need of microtransactions at all.
