Should you buy a game?

Do you know you will play it in the immediate future? Then yes.
If not, no.

If a game goes on sale once, it will go on sale again for the same price or less. You're not missing out on anything by passing on a summer sale game.

I wonder what the odds of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin being pretty cheap are. I would love to play through that again on PC with the DLC.

Seems like the prices were higher during the last 2 or 3 sales, hoping to see more games in the single digits this time around.

That's the only game I'm waiting for during this sale !

I've just finished Castlevania SOTN and it really made me want to play a Soul game ! I'll buy it with or without sale, but I think I can wait a little to buy it cheaper !

If the time the sale begins does not depend on the local timezone, is the specific time the sale will start known?

Steam store gets updated at 10AM PST every day, so that's when the Summer Sale and daily deals etc. will start.

Totally thought today was the 11th, I was so psyched to waste all my money on games I'll never play. Now I feel so deflated.

Nah. The best way to go is to buy every good deal because you know you'll get round to playing it eventually.

All I want is Invisible Inc. Don't care if it's down $3 or $5. I just need it right now but figure I should wait for the sale.

I don't recall from previous years and sales, do Steam/Valve announce the sale before hand? Right now the only confirmation we have is an email from paypal.

Nope. Refresh the page at 10 pacific time and all of a sudden the sale is on. Sometimes prices on stuff get Weird in the minutes leading up to 10 o'clock but that's it.

How much do guys expect people will say this years sales suck because they already bought most of what they wanted on the last sale.

I keep seeing this time and time again.

In the mean time this will probably be me

Bring on the sales. I have glorious plans.

And remember folks, the golden rule of steam sales thread don't buy anything unless it reaches the following criteria!

Wait for the daily deals or flash sales.
If you what want wasn't a daily or flash, wait until the last day, then buy.

I have a crappy laptop and frankly, I restrained myself last year after a 2013 that, frankly, I'm not proud of and don't want to talk about (but that DID net me Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2, one of my favorite games of the past few years, all because of the DLC that lets you play as Raz from Psychonauts).

This year, I'm going to only get Sid Meier's Starships if it's 50% off or more; otherwise, I'm out. I'm sticking to this.

This happened to me until recently when they started showing whether you already owned the game or not.

Yeah I'm glad for the Steam update that fixed that.

This will be the first time we have a major sale with the new Steam UI overhaul right? Should be very interesting.

Valkyria Chronicles
Trails in the Sky
Borderlands: Pre-Sequel
Metal Gear Rising
Shovel Knight
Legend of Grimrock II

That is my bounty hunts so far. Knowing me there will be 5 to 10 more games I want that will crop up.

My wallet weeps, and the backlog continues!

The "Discovery Update" went live last September, so depending on your perspective, the first major sale thereafter was either the Halloween Sale (a Weekend Deals replacement during which only games Valve deem as theme-appropriate are discounted, which is a fair amount these days) or the Autumn Sale (essentially a shorter Winter Sale, minus the meta-game).

Alright just wish listed:

Main PC - Wolfy TNO/ NB

Surface 3 - Ys and TitSky.

New to PC gaming in general I have the old Orange box and that's about it. Anything else one should be on the look out for based on that limited scope haha. I have 30-50$ I am willing to use.

I'd look out for Divinity Original Sin if you like deep RPGs. Pillars of Eternity too.
You also get games like Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition for £3.75 which is like $5 or something on US Steam.
