40 minutes till the sale is over. Guys, I need an answer!

I haven't played it, but this question has been asked many times and the answer seems to be, "Vietnam but only if you've already played and enjoyed the base game."

Steam backup with an external hdd on usb 3 is pretty slick and seamless.

I use it every single time I download a game and it takes maybe a minute for a 10gb game to backup.

A wonder if volume makes a difference. I used to use it for a single game and thought it was pretty quick. But the last couple times I did huge chunks of games and it worked like garbage.

Take the vietnam one, its the only one with actual level content. The others are extra items, mp and challenge maps.

I know repeating questions can get very annoying, but this is one giant thread and I was pressed for time! Either way, I got Vietnam. Cheers.

You can, and it is relatively easy to do so for the more recent laptops.

then go for it, storage has never been cheaper, and there are tons of free disk cloning utilities out there. it should be a few hours job at max, and you'll be set with about 1.8tb of space if you buy a 2tb drive

Depends on how fast your cpu is when compressing the files, how large an area you select it to go in(which decides if it is going to be 1 file or many), and your mb and backup hd.

Yeah though when I decided to lump a backup of around 50 games once, it took about 2 hours, but I kind of expected that.

Steam is killing my internal hard drive. I actually bought a 1TB drive just dedicated to Steam.......I only have about 400 gb left now and at the rate Im going at the end of the year it'll be full. I shouldve gotten a 2TB lol

Holy shit the weekly goals for Recettear are nuts.

Especially because 90% of my customers are old people and little girls who thing 120% sale price is egregious but will try to sell me Unthankful Statues for 75% of their base price.

I'm with you there. "1TB is huge. I'll never need anything bigger!"

Yup its a game where you need to fail on your first few tries, restarting with better stats.
For new players at least.

Oh man, those people are such a waste of valuable time. It gets irritating, especially since Recette scolds herself for botching the sale even though it's not her fault they can't afford any of the stock. I wish it let me ban certain customers from the store.

I've been playing a lot of hoard this morning. I really enjoy it, I've yet to go online but the game plays great with the 360 controller plugged in.

Was a great pick-up at the $3 price tag.

Do people really have that many games they actively play? Why keep the games installed if they're single player stuff you've finished? You can grab them again if you want to play them thru again in the future.

As you fail and start a new game, you keep your mechant level, so it gets easier the second time through. Of course, the real challenge is playing through it once without dying, but it's extremely hard and the game is made for you to fail and try again

Yeah but in some cases, it takes ages to download them again if you want to play them immediately. Most of the time I am not planning what I want to play tomorrow.

Haha, you have a right to though, it does get annoying after some time. Again, when I'm fighting through Vietnam, I'll think of you~<3

This is kind of cheesy, but if I knew I was coming up short for the deadline, I would spend all of my money on items to sell the next time around.

You can rack up a shitload of money doing that.

That's a fair point I guess. Depends on your bandwidth vs local storage situation. I don't have a cap on my bandwidth and it's pretty fast. I'd fine redownloading preferable I think.

Man, I've had Magicka for a while, but I really wanna experience the game in a co-op fashion. I need more Steam friends lol.

Come back in 20-25 minutes and post your Steam ID and you will get plenty of people. Lots of folks in the thread right before the new sale drops...and they will all be looking for a way to occupy those last few minutes. :)

You can add me if you want, my Steam ID is the same...but I don't have Magicka.

The best reason is this: If you're compulsive and get annoyed at looking at trash you hate, you can set your game list to display only games that are installed.

Part of the convenience of Steam is, if someone wants to play a game or I feel the need to play a game I didn't finish, it's there and I can just double-click and start it up. Sure, it seems unlikely my buddy will want to finish RE5 with me, but it's there if he does.

If you mean games you have 100%'d and will likely never play again on an immediate whim, yeah, delete them. For other stuff, I like having it at my fingertips.

You could favorite all the games you like too.

I'd actually like more control over my library, I want to list things in the order I want, and change names, and delete Beta's I don't want etc.

In my case I have a 1TB drive dedicated to games and since Steam composes about 90% of all my games it's practical to have the entire library installed.

Edit: Clarity.

Finally got that Meat Boy achievement. It would be a hell of a lot less annoying if you didn't have to restart the game client to find out whether you've unlocked it.

I favorite the games I'm currently playing, put the ones I've beaten in my Done folder, and let the rest sit in the main section.

I agree that there should be more options for customization and arrangement. I'd like to make folders for genres or put my games in a queue like Netflix.

So I asked the question yesterday and only got one response: Is Fable 3 worth it ?

The game seems to have gotten alot of criticism - I have only played the first one to completion, and didn't finish the 2nd one due to time constraints. I enjoyed them both.

Single game backups are the way to go. As games get patched and update it's a lot easier to update the backup of individual games, or grab a single backup on a USB stick to give to a friend etc.

Keeps less overall space on disk than leaving the game installed too

True. But for some reason Steam occasionally nuked my folders and then I'd be back to step 1. Just decided to switch to a method it couldn't mess up.

I would love this so much. I'm constantly organizing and reorganizing my games but the categories just aren't sufficient on their own.

The trick is to sell at only a small markup for most things. If you're having to haggle every time you sell something, it will fuck you up later in the game because less customers will come to your store and it will less likely for them to buy things. To really make money you have to go after the hot items because you can sell them at a 200-300% markup without a any problems.

I have my games in a tonne of different categories. One thing I wish would be allowing to set games to multiple categories. I want to be able to Just Cause under Open World and Third Person Shooter.

It seems like the majority of NeoGAF, myself included, would say no. Here is one of my rants about F3.

As I've said before, it was a head on collision between bad ideas and poor execution. You might get some enjoyment out of it, who knows, but I wouldn't recommend it even at half price. I liked the first two fable games but 3 felt like a step back.

When you guys copy the data away from Steam, and then when you want to restore it just paste it back into the steamapps, how do you get it to update the registry, etc? I did this with duels of the planeswalkers recently just messing around, and I could play the game by double clicking the .exe in the game's folder, but it didn't show up on the steam list, it didn't get into the registry, and cloud saves didn't work. Now I just do backups for single games whenever I download a game since it does save a little space but really because I'm starting to actually hit my 250 gb bandwidth cap more regularly.

Thanks Snuggler (and Orellio / Echoshifting), I'll refrain from purchasing it.

The advice regarding Fable 3 has been extremely mixed...some loathe it, but some have said that if you liked the first two games you will probably like the third. I don't know about you, but in the midst of the summer sale I don't have room for a $25 "mixed" game...

There are many responses to people who has asked that question in this thread, an no it's not. If you have any other games to play, play them instead of wasting 20 euros on this crap just for the sake of buying something.

Its like a really broken, dumb and far more immature version of Fable II.

That's my feeling on Fable 3. I will play it eventually but I'm not spending €20 on it at this time. I could get roughly 4 games that I'm equally interested in for that price.

Homefront just got a massive patch & with one of the ticket items being a map pack for it, may be a daily deal in the next few days?
