Borrows from a lot of other FPS games, which is one reason why it never got much attention. The repulse/grab is just like the HL2 gravity gun.

Bioshock, telekinesis.

But yeah, it's a borrower, but still a good game. Great gunplay, great story.

never played doom 3, is it too outdated for me to enjoy? anyone recommend it?

I loved deadspace 1 and 2, how similar is it to that?

DOOM 3 has problems running at a proper resolution for a lot of people running Windows 7 64-bit. You can turn up the graphical settings, but they don't apply and you are stuck running the game in like 640X480. Kind of a weird glitch, and one that I don't think has been patched. I'd be wary of buying it, although maybe the Steam version is patched and optimized better than the retail copy.

Just Alpha Protocol for me today...
I'll wait with Singularity until the christmas sale!

And for anyone considering getting any of the M&B games. Just go for M&B Warband. It's the best and biggest out of the three.
Has some really great mods for it as well (cRPG in particular)

I won't bother with Fallout: NV until the GOTY version comes out. I assume FO:3 has one, hopefully it comes on sale, hopefully next year NV GOTY goes on sale. I enjoy Bethseda(sp?) games quite a bit.

I'd say so. It's a great atmosphere, some of the puzzles get a bit repetative but overall both the gameplay and puzzles are very good. The experience is even better if you play co-op. It might just be local co-op, i'm not 100% sure.

I have played it at 1080p on win 7 64-bit. It's the classic ini tweak for id games, takes about 30 seconds.

The game is gorgeous.

No Ruse raves, eh?

The idea is to encourage you to get friends to try the game as well. It's a pretty sound strategy.

I disagree on the "sound strategy" bit, but that's the idea. And it really shouldn't prove to be a problem for anyone today.

Yeah, Trine is fun :) I didn't play it that long at the time, because a lot of other games came up, but it's definitively worth the price.

So RUSE....

I like strategy games, but I really want to know if the campaign gives you lots of openess in regards to how you beat a level? Is there only the one way it wants you to do it or can you do many things that should work?

EDIT: And yes you should buy Frozen Synapse. I bought it a year or so ago and it was much fun.

Anyone? Also I guess its more RTSy? I don't know a whole lot about it. $10 worth it?

Reposting for a new page in case someone missed it and in hopes it helps someone decide:

Games that you should buy if you don't already have:
New Vegas (it's what fallout 3 should have been)
Doom 3 (it's a classic!)
ALPHA PROTOCOL (some of you will hate it because it's rather janky, and the combat is a little clunky, but beneath all that you have a great RPG where your choices actually change the "conversation battles" as you could call it.)
Serious Sam Gold (it's pretty much the newest version of the "let 'er rip" version of FPS games that used to be standard fare on the PC, it's gorgeous too)
Trine (Frozenbyte hit it out of the park with this one. You control three different characters that do three different things, and you use them in a side scrolling adventure puzzle game that's as pretty as it is fun and cute)
Bionic Commando Rearmed (a classic game redone in 3D, very amusing with neat retro gameplay)

Games that are alright, it's hit or miss:
Bully (you get to be a bully. While unique, it just feels like a kids version of GTA without all the GTA parts)
Singularity (a derivative fps in a sea of derivative fps games. Not terrible but you're better off getting doom 3)
Bionic Commando 2009 (A reboot of BC. You're better off with Rearmed)
Frozen Synapse (A tactical turn based game with an eagle eye view. Only get it if you have friends)
Mount and Blade (A neat little game that lets you wage wars and fight from horseback and shit like that. Looks like crap though until you mod it, at least the first one does)

Games that are bad, avoid:
Homefront (This makes bad FPS games look good, that's how bad this stinker is)
RUSE (You're better off playing any other RTS)

I find it annoying how it is a Franchise sale, but only includes New Vegas DLC :/
Yeah, when I saw franchise sale on the front page I was hoping for some ridiculously cheap copies of Fallout 1 and 2.

For a small game nobody has ever heard of, having your rabid fans have an extra copy to promote it with seems like a winning situation. Maybe I am wrong, but it makes sense to me.

If anyone wants, I'll buy Frozen Synapse, if you gift me Alpha Protocol which is $5.

Less than what it's worth.

PM me if you want to do it.

Got offers already.

This is what I was hoping for as well, but I did just buy them for cheap from GoG, so it's ok.

I don't know if I should get FNV now with the DLC or wait for a GOTY version.
If you do it now, it's 21$ for FNV and the first two DLC. Even if you buy the last 2 at full price, 41$. Is the GOTY gonna debut for less?

Frozen Synapse GET !

I'll wait for New Vegas DLC, I have to give the game another spin first because it didn't really click with me, and I'm sure we'll get all of them even cheaper during Christmas Sale :p
