For the people that are wondering about the Gothic games i can give some small impressions, Gothic 1 & 2 (haven't played 3 yet) are RPG set in a open world, the gameplay is pretty standard you gain XP by fighting monsters, solving quest, Etc. Since they are pretty old games you can forget about having quest waypoints, you don't even start with a map, you have to buy or obtain one. The interface is functional except for the inventory management which is bad, Gothic 1's inventory screen was pretty much a single column with no way to sort your items, the sequel has better inventory management but not by much. There's no level scaling so if you go somewhere you are not suppossed to you will die, actually you will die a lot in the Gothic games until you get the hang of things.
Yeah the Gothic games definitely have a pretty rough start but after playing for a few hours i managed to enjoy the 2 games quite a lot, the world is pretty well made with lots of atmosphere and the quests are pretty good too and some even give you a couple of choices in how to complete them. If you don't mind some of the issues i have described i'd say to just get Gothic Universe pack since that contains Gothic 1, 2 & 3.
