is it your connection or the server? i switch servers a lot during sales. i was getting 90kbps on this server last night so i switched to greenland/iceland for 900kbps.
I usually get 3MB+ so it's kinda strange. Jamestown is teeny and I don't feel like resetting and trying other servers, so I'll just deal for now.

Atlanta gave me about 1MB/s so thanks!

I just got a Runespell: Overture Closed Beta Steam key e-mailed to me from the Mystic Box community manager. Anyone else?

I'm really looking forward to this. I may start up an OT this weekend after I've had a chance to play the beta some but if you're interested you can check the site at the link below. It looks like they are still accepting beta applications.

So I got a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 for helping out an Aussie. I don't know if I'll even touch it, though. :/

I'd be more then happy to have it, and play it until sun goes down (it never does during the summer here in northern Sweden)

Edit: Errr I missunderstood. Nothing to see here, carry on.

I have 20$ left in my steam wallet... praying nothing major goes on sale the next couple of days that will wipe me clean. Still have a few games I wanted to buy that I dont think will be dailies, so hope to have some money left for the last day.

First things I got were the Sunglasses, Alien Breed (which is an actual game) and the snorkel.

Now i'm just going to fill out stuff for games I happen to own.

After that i dunno.

I hear though you don't really want the Dwarfs one, because you can get it free by completing achievements in-game.

The Dwarfs?! is confirmed, check the OP.

So I'm sure this had been asked many times by now, but what are considered the good prizes to get with tickets, I've already got the TF2 / Portal one, and have 3 tickets left. I also already have the maps for Defense Grid, and AI Wars expansion, everything else seems meh to me.

I'm thinking between Alien Breed 2 since it's an actually stand alone game, or SpaceChem DLC.

I went for the X3 mission and Alien Breed. The only other game I own that has a prize is DOW2: Retribution, and its just war gear? meh.

I believe Alien Breed is the best value. It's regularly a $10 game, and only on sale for $5 now.

Personally I got the TF2 shades, MNC gear and the Defense Grid maps or whatever with my first 9 tickets.

I feel that multiplayer gear has more value because I will be playing those games a lot longer then I will with single player games.

Still got my thumbs up for terraria/alice/X3 daily \o/. Only 2 hours to find out.

For prizes, I went for Portal, DGrid, Magicka and TF2 glasses.

I have a policy never to buy anything above 5€. Is batman good enough to break that vow? I genrally don't care about super heroes or stories in videogames but someone in this thread said it was a bit like POP, which I like.

Cool. How does that work in Steam? Does the beta become disabled at some point or are you actually upgraded to the full game?

I would love some tidbits on beta Steam codes, actually.

Absolutely. I don't even like batman, but it was my 2009 GOTY.

It's that good.

Batman AA is absolutely great game, a recommended buy to anyone who either likes Batman or likes great games.

I'm glad when the sales are over. 24 hours is too long to wait for new sales each day and I'm happy when I can give my wallet a rest.

Vampire/X3/Deadspace dailies COME ONNNNNNNNN.

If any game would break that rule, it is Batman A.A.

Agreed. Its all fun until you reach the middle of the month and have no money left to spend on gas.

I wish every day was a Steam sale. They...they complete me.
Maybe I'd become desensitized to the point of not being tempted by such lucrative deals anymore.

Ok decided to do the impulse buy of the sale and went with Jamestown. I hope this was a good impulse-buy :O

I really hope both Deathspank games go on sale.

vaelic said:
same here. I have passed that up too many times

I can't think of a single positive thing to say about Deathspank. Sorry to hate like that, but there are games that do everything Deathspank does 1000 times better. Torchlight and the Penny Arcade games to name a couple.

I generally just put money away each week for a while before the sales, means I can still eat :p

Is Far Cry 2 worth $5? I read it's really tedious. How's the DRM for that game?

It's alright. Open world is neat and it looks good. Constantly respawning enemies, long travel times and bugs really dampen the experience though. I'd only advise getting it if you're specifically in the mood for a sandbox type FPS.

As for the DRM, I believe they had patched that out, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: Too late. Enjoy.

No problem. If this game enables me to prey on enemies then I think I'll have fun with it.

So, what are people spending their tickets on?
I'm going with games I already own but that kind of runs into issues. I'm thinking of going with these 3 for sure:
*SpaceChem DLC
*Defense Grid DLC (I'm thinking I should have just bought it for <£1 but what would I use the tickets on?)
*Beat Hzard Ship
And maybe on these 4 (if I can aford, I'm short on time and the options I have left might take too long) but I'm not exacly bothered if I miss them:
*Delve Deeper (I tried the game for a few minutes and it just closed on me)
*Aaa...(there seems to be a fair bit of content anyway and trying to get the ticket is kind of putting me off the game
4 stars is my best so far...only a little further
)
*Serious Sam characters (I probably won't play the multiplayer game at all)
*The Alien game thing (great, another one for the backlog)

I suppose one of those could be replaced if I find time to try a demo of one of the dailies and like it and it has a prize (I get to sit out last 3 days due to vaction)
