Steam Summer Sales Thread: remember: you can actually play after buying

OK the Risen page now says 75% off instead of 66%. Will look into it.

Definitely getting Sanctum, been waiting for that one.

Denying myself any C&C games despite the attractive prices. I need to play more Starcraft 2 enough as it is.

I really don't get Capcom. Why encourage people to waste money on SFIV? You may have enticed them to buy SSFIV instead.... Now they will wait for that one to hit a similar sale.

I have CoH vanilla retail, will the key work as it should if I plugged it into OF retail but on Steam instead?
Every copy of any company of heroes (Vanilla, Opposing Fronts, Tales of Valor) was updated to the latest executable.

In other words, it's all the same game. The thing that dictates which content you have access to is the profile you use when you open the game up.

For instance, I only bought Tales of Valor on Steam, but since my Online Relic Profile has the key to all 3 games, I have access to the entire content through Tales of Valor.

Nothing for me today, so I'll pick up Eschalon Book 1 & 2 (highly unlikely these will see daily sales... if they do, oh well) and Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 off of GoG.
Book 2 was on yesterday, I believe.

Anyway, I don't think I'll get anything today. Unless Risen has been modded a lot I can't see it interesting me.

holy shit capcom.. $15 for SFIV? ??? !!

These are by far the worst steam sales i've been around for.

I've spent like $100 each sale before this one.. my total so far for this one is like $10

Nice. Is ToV any good or should I just skip it? Heard MP really only has unlockable vehicles (I heard aren't that great) and the SP isn't good at all.

Can a NA/CA GAFer hook me up with Risen? It's not available on the AU store (in fact I think it was RC'd). I can PayPal ASAP. It's 1AM here, so PM me if you want to help out a fellow GAFer in need.

Edit: Le-Mo has offered to gift it. :)

It was less than that at launch. Do not encourage their shitty practices. This isn't a sale; it's a fucking insult.

They're giving you the privilege of paying more for a game than when it first came out a year ago.

It launched at $40. Cheapest its been on Steam is $16, I believe.

Not sure why people are expecting Capcom to sell their games for pennies, they're triple A games and franchises with high production values.

Well that's just silly.
Silly to have patience? That and the fact that I assumed it would be on sale during this Steam sale, which it still easily has a chance to.

If not, oh well. It's not like I don't have over 100 games on Steam that I could be playing instead. It's not like it won't be even cheaper during the winter sale.

You're going to buy less and less each time though. Once you have all the games you really want most people just fill in gaps here and there. I haven't spent over $30 in the last couple sales now.

Dead Rising 2 was less than $20 at launch?

I seem to remember paying $50 for it.

It's also well worth $20, as it's a fantastic open world game with some unique mechanics, an absurd sense of humor, and should appeal to anyone who likes to beat up zombies or horror comedy.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Was going to get C&C4 and then saw the terrible reviews.

C&C3 has way better reviews and is only $6. Worth it to someone trying to get into RTS games?

Capcom and Activision have been a joke, but everything else has been solid. I just own so many titles that there isn't much I don't already own during these sales. I've picked up Dawn of War 2 Retribution, SpaceChem, and Jamestown.

Today's sales are great. Risen is amazing, Sanctum is totally worth it, and Anniversary is a steal at $4.99. I'm considering C&C 4, myself.

We have 9 tickets today. Time to replay Poker Night at the Inventory.

I may get Audiosurf and some Tomb Raider game. Also, it's probably time I get Garry's Mod and the Penny Arcade games... they're not gonna get any lower right?
I'm such a cheap bastard

But on the positive side I didn't buy anything for one day :D

If you get only 2, we're trying for a 4 pack that works out to 3.75 a person via paypal to me.

List is above.

Just get ToV if you want to play multiplayer, because it includes all the factions/content. Do not buy for the campaign, the original and OF are better choices in that regard.

I say there's no CnC games after Generals.
