The Wonderful End of the World
Wonderful Big Bladder - Reset the game, and complete the entire thing in one sitting

Oh Dejobaan, you're so shitty. That's the only way to get people to play the game I suppose.

Not going to waste 2 hours to get a ticket.

I've never played the Quake games. Worth it for the single player?
You probably missed the train already, and chance that you'll enjoy such old games is reletively small. I say, they're great for both SP and MP.

I'm in the middle of the Witcher 1 and I'm psyched to get to Witcher 2 and Skyrim as soon as possible. Because of this I skipped Two Worlds II even though GAF hyped it pretty high. So........ convince me I need Risen!

A word of warning to those purchasing Company of Heroes. The patching through Steam is absolutely terrible. Every time there is a new patch, the entire games are downloaded again. Fantastic games otherwise, but just keep that in mind.

both Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2 were launched @ $39 on PC.
Seriously, where were you guys buying it that it cost so much? Steam itself? I appreciate they normally charge a lot more than other places for PC games, sales aside.

So is Men of War a vastly superior game to Company of Heroes if you like the old time Close Combat games? I already own and love the Men of War games but CoH seems to get pretty good reviews. I don't ever play multi-player in these types of games though.
They're very different games. Company of Heroes is like Dawn of War 1. It's real-time strategy (bases and such), not real-time tactics like Men of War or Dawn of War II.

So, id superpack is $30:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/440/

Today, Quake pack is $7.50:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/434/

July 5, DOOM pack was $8.75:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/426/?snr=1_5_9__403

That's $16.25 for the two packs. If you were to buy these, and then individually buy all the games missing from the id superpack, you get a grand total of $36, meaning the superpack is still cheaper.

BUT, if you're like me, and don't care about Commander Keen, the pre-doom Wolfensteins, etc., you could have bought the DOOM pack and Quake pack and the Hexen pack and actually saved nearly $10 :(

And obviously if the Hexen pack or Wolf3D packs are daily deals in the next couple days, then even more $$ would have been saved nabbing them individually.

Just some math for anyone else that has had their eye on the id pack, like I have.

On the front page I see Grand Theft Auto 4 complete for £6.24, -75% but the page itself says £16.24, -33%.

I am guessing they just marked it incorrectly on the front page or is there something I am missing.

Has anyone here actually PLAYED Sanctum?

It LOOKS cool but the metacritic is pretty low.

Have had it since Pre-Order beta. Haven't played much since, didn't work as much as I hoped.

also Fate of the World, yay/nay?

Yes if you can wait for the next patch. The game is really solid, a lot of fun, but difficult in the unfair, not-fun sort of way because it doesn't teach you enough about its mechanics or provide the numbers you need to make anything but guesses at what cards you need to play...unless you are really good with charts and you have some working knowledge of climate change-related issues.

They are supposedly working hard to fix this problem with a patch, but there's no ETA. I'll probably push for people to buy it during the winter sale, but I don't expect to give it any kind of strong recommendation until the patch is signed, sealed and delivered. It is much needed.

edit: keep an eye on the Steam board for the game, the devs post all their updates there and some of the folks there are really helpful if you decide to buy it now

Pennies?? Yay hyperbole!

Why are all of the other titles going for what you consider to be "pennies" then? Are none of them AAA titles with high production values? Are none of them wildly successful during Steam Sales? Your logic is off, and at least for myself, I will never buy those Capcom games when they are priced like they are, sales or not. I expect that is the same for many many other people as well.

Good for you.

Seriously, you got fleeced. It was mega cheap at pre-order on PC. Consoles, of course, was a different story.
Your argument is still invalid though. The suggested retail price was 39.99. Capcom put it out at 39.99. By putting it on sale today at 19.99 that is 50% off.

Just because certain retailers decided to sell it for less than that pre-launch does not mean Capcom is not pulling some "Shitty Practice" or A "Fucking insult" at all. Why on Earth would they base their discounts on certain retailers price? You're crazy man.

You got a deal, and you're clearly proud as all hell to brag and gloat about that. But really, this is about Steam. Not some site that you got a boxed copy from for cheaper. Sure it could have been discounted to 4.99 so all the entitled lads could scoop it up without thinking. But it's half off what it usually is on Steam.

Wow... Fuck the Wonderful End of The World Ticket. I A+'d (or whatever) all the levels so I'm not going to reset it.

HNNGHHNNN!

I want to buy risen and Laura croft but I have $26.48. If I buy them I will be left with $15.25 and I'm still holding up for bulletstorm. WHAT TO DO! Im afraid bulletstorm will be 19.99.

EDIT: AND while looking at risen it has went from 75% to 66%. For teasing me STEAM, I will hold off on Risen and wait for the Christmas sale to pick it up

Sanctum is an overlooked game. It's a fun twist on tower defense, and can be played multiplayer! It gets my recommendation.

Risen is a mandatory purchase.
It has a 69/100 on metacritic. Why so low?

hmm I wonder if I can grab the DLC up for grabs in the booth without owning the game...

I'm going to have to spend those tickets somewhere and chances are I'll buy FotW somewhere down the line

Trenched kind of soured me on Sanctum, same concept just executed so much better. I think even Iron Grip: Warlord does it better. I'd definitely recommend playing the trial before blind buying, even at $3.75.

A couple questions:

Is the Rift: CE worth it?

How good is Risen? What kind of RPG is it like?

How can I not suck at Sanctum?

I've never played Quake before. Sell me on it, but first let me tell you of my phobia:

It might finally be time to go back and investigate DOOM, Quake, Unreal, Hexen, Painkiller, etc.

The thing is , I think I still have a weird phobia of those kinds of shooters left over from when I was little.

Back in the day when those games first came out I was honestly afraid to play them for several reasons:
1) I wasn't used to the idea of a game where you couldn't see behind or around your character, so I was always afraid of something getting the drop on me. Obviously I can get over that now, if not for the other two issues.
2) Most of the enemies in these games were things like monsters and demons which looked genuinely scary to me as a kid.
3) There's something about your health being displayed by an exact number that I found very fatalistic. Having your health display "02" somehow always seemed scarier than just a sliver of a lifebar to me. Your character's face deteriorating in DOOM didn't help.

I wasn't ever able to progress through games like DOOM, Turok, and Duke 3D without cheats. I was never able to actually finish an FPS unassisted until GoldenEye came out. That game did two very helpful things for me: the enemies were all human, and it used a traditional health bar. From that point forward most FPSs on consoles used traditional health bars and had you shoot either humans or aliens - which I can deal with (it's just demons that's the problem).

Recently I was finally able to conquer Duke 3D, but again that was aliens, and I still hate the things that hatch out of the eggs. I still don't know about the other games. A little while ago I tried to play Turok 2 without cheats, and made it through the first level, but had to stop at the graveyards in the second level. Also couldn't do the third level with the big gorilla dudes. I think my problem more than anything is just shooters with mythical or supernatural enemies. I can play Left 4 Dead, even singleplayer, because I know that the zombies are scientific in origin in this game's universe.

Should I really go back and investigate the aforementioned classics if I want more shooters without being stuck with grey war shooters? Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you get over it?

Lol about to buy Company of heroes pack.
Seems like i already bought a other pack last year summer action never played it.
But i did miss Tales of valor so i bought that one too.

Should keep the OT title in mind i have like 50 Steam games and only played 8 of them or so all bought in those big steam sales. Im mostly a console gamers because friends are on them :(

Old school western CRPG fans need to check out the Eschalon games if they haven't already. I don't think they've ever gone on sale, and they are at a really great price right now. I highly doubt they will be a daily deal because they are already so low.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.

It launched at $40. Cheapest its been on Steam is $16, I believe.

Not sure why people are expecting Capcom to sell their games for pennies, they're triple A games and franchises with high production values.

Well, there are a few things:
1) SF4 has been cheaper on Steam before.
2) SF4 just had an updated version released which makes it obsolete. And not in the sense that there is just a new entry into the series, but in the sense that you no longer have a reason to play the game anymore.
3) Devil May Cry 4 was released in 2008. It's a 3 year old game. It's been $10 multiple times before. They've exhausted all the people who will buy at that price point. It's time to bump it down to $5 or $7.50, or something.

Then there is Capcom's general disdain for PC gamers. Late ports, terrible support, and constant cock-teasing. It's essentially the perfect cocktail for people to complain.

Valve is still working on getting their patching system improved right? Instead of just downloading the files that are different, it'll actually patch them properly? (no lol 9GB Witcher 2 patches, etc.)
