Two more questions.

1) Are the Quake 2 expansions worth buying?

2) Why isn't the Lara Croft GoL DLC worth buying?
2.) GoL DLC isn't really worth it because it isn't full-fledged levels like the singleplayer stuff.

Yeah, I can see why a price that "high" can turn people off during a sale like this, but I loved the game. I'm in the minority that actually thinks it was an improvement over the first.

I thought it was an improvement. I bought it for $40 and didn't regret it. It wasn't a huge leap forward but fixed some of the biggest faults from the first.

My god-damn debit card got nicked today - I wish I'd thought to shove £50 in my Steam wallet before I reported it stolen.

I'm out for the rest of the sale, lads :(

Anyone played the Penny Arcade games?

Precipice Of Darkness 1 & 2 are on sale for €1.80 in one bundle.

Yay or nay?

Is CoH worth it if I don't really like RTS games and never plan on playing it?

I disliked them intensely. Humor fell flat often, gameplay was very meh. Art was good though.

Ok GAF... I'm looking for some multiplayer RTS. Taking into consideration I have no care whatsoever for the quality (or even presence) of a campaign (I will be using only multiplayer and/or skirmish):

1) Do I get C&C4 or Red Alert 3?
2) Do I get Company of Heroes instead?
3) If yes to #2, do I get CoH, Opposing Fronts, or Tales of Valor?

Also, was looking at Risen as I love those kind of games, but concerned about this comment:

Was considering buying Risen, but the bastards used TAGES WITH no activation renewal. In other words, it's a rental and not a purchase.

What does this mean exactly? I can buy it for $10, download it only once, and that's it, if I reformat/buy a new PC/etc I can never download and play it again?

Also, Bentendo...

I know! How am I supposed to choose which game to start playing?

That's a serious question btw.

You let the will of the gods decide of course! Make a grossly overpopulated list on backloggery (like me) and then you choose "Fortune Cookie".

I didn't like them. Felt pretty archaic and the writing wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Well I bought Red Alert 3 so I could have it on Steam (already had it as a retail disk).

What have I become?

Thinking about Anniversary too... I have never played a Tome Raider game though, I already own GoL.

I did that for Crysis, as well as a few games I had on the 360.

Just part of being part of the Master Gaming Race.

Hm, thanks for the tip ;)

Let me help you on the CoH question.

This isn't your standard build-a-base-and-harvest-resources-and-attack-opposite-base RTS.
You only get a small number of tanks or infantry and with that group you need to survive.
I actually loved it. At times, it can be pretty nailbiting and intense. You're really trying to keep all of your squad alive and I personally felt really bad when one of them got killed.

For about 2 euros, you should just buy it and maybe view RTS from a new perspective afterwards:)

By the way guys, I would strongly recommend looking around the "under $5" section, and sorting by price. A TON of games are on sale for around a dollar, including some indie stuff like Blueberry Garden and The Graveyard (which has piqued my interest).

Also, Chime is $1.25. Get that.

Bought Risen. Considering the C&C games, especially C&C3. I have RA3 and expansion on Origin, do I double dip to have them on Steam? Hmm, can't really justify it. But they won't get any cheaper than this. Argh.

Tomb Raider time!! I was really hoping to be able to snag Underworld and Guardian of the Light :D

I already played Legend and Anniversary... but on consoles, might double dip.

They're fun and funny but pretty short. Also I played the first one on 360 and the second on PC, if they support a gamepad then use one. The combo QTEs are a pain on a keyboard iirc.

Meh, I got a few cool bits so I'm not too bummed. And all this stuff will be on sale again at Christmas...and.... :(

Nahh, it's OK - I have way too many to catch up on anyways :)

I like your avatar. Crystal Dynamics should make those sunglasses and whistle an optionable costume in the next TR ;)

C'mon, that's not true either.

You build barracks and factories to create units. It's an RTS game, except you capture command points (ammunition, fuel and manpower) for resources.

You can build an army but you have a limit over the number of units you can have (like WarCraft, StarCraft).

You can garrison a building using your troops and setup a forward base to create units close to the battlefield.

It's the best RTS IMO. Soldiers move is just like real soldiers. Also, the sound effects in this game... OMG!

Heh.

I actually might buy some DLC costumes for Guardian of the Light, Raziel and Kain seems too awesome.

I had to launch with -clearbeta, was stuck unable to connect for two hours :(

I was having the same problem and I'm not in the beta, and it eventually let me back on again. Fortunately most games you can just download cracked .exe's and play them without Steam running.

COH is one of the best RTS games ever, and it's not the standard RTS that may have turned people off. The graphics still totally impress too. Can't recommend it enough for rts and non rts fans. It's amazing.

I have a question about EA games. I bought the crysis collection a while back in a previous sale and have yet to download it. Will I still be able to install and play it?

Is it a pretty demanding game? How would it run on a new laptop (6750m, 2.2 ghz quad core).

I already have it on my main gaming PC, but I am wondering if it is worth the download for my Macbook Pro.

Just bought the Pendulo Studios pack for 33 euros (which is a bit pricey), because I couldn't resist its amazing visuals thanks to EchosMyron1's screenshots in the high-res thread.

I was gonna ask if someone bought that pack. I'm 99% sure I'm gonna but could you tell me what kind of DRM popped up for The Next Big Thing? It says on the store page it requires online activation.

weird to say but Poker Night at the Inventory is the game i have enjoyed the most from this sale.

Yeah, I enjoy it quite a bit, too. I picked up during the TellTale sale last month and have put in about 6 hours. It's a competent enough poker game, and the banter is a lot of fun. I do think 6 hours is all I'll do, though, as the dialogue is starting to loop now.

That said, I did fire it up to get the achievement. It only took about 5 minutes -- on the second hand I was dealt a 6 and a 9, so I just went all in and got the others to fold.

Yep, I just recently re-downloaded Crysis 2 to mess with the dx11 patch and high res textures, didnt have a problem.
