Ah man, I'm in the mood to spend money so I was hoping for better deals (lack of interest or already own) but I suppose I'll snag the Last Remnant since it sounds OK and I don't own anything like it on PC.

Does it have towns and stuff you can explore or is it all battles?
3D HD towns you can walk around in.

Divinity II. Impressions?

I played the demo for about an hour and didn't like it. If you're really hungry for an RPG and have played everything else, then it may be worth your while, but personally, something just felt off about it and I couldn't enjoy myself at all.

I was under the impression it was bad, and one of the only reasons people are playing on PC is the fact that there's hardly any other JRPG's to play. Isn't Last Remnant the game with some of the most annoying looking/sounding characters in a while? maybe I'm getting it mixed up with that other JRPG that came out on the 360 around the same time.

The characters are slightly annoying at times, but not to the extent of say Star Ocean 4. More importantly, TLR PC version has the best combat of any JRPG ever.

The key word is 'more'.

None of the games from Bethesda have been polished as far as I can remember.

Hmm. ME2 and Amnesia..

I have ME1 from the last sale but have hardly played it. Do you guys think I should pick ME2 up and finish ME1 first?

Hell yeah. It gets hate, but ME2 is GOTY 2010. It's beyond excellent.

Pick it up, asap.

ehhhhh maybe I don't need this right this second then. I'm still burnt out on these sorts of issues in JRPGs.
The game doesn't go on sale very often, and SE doesn't seem to be budging on the base price.

Wow dollars to euro conversion is fucked up again.

We have to pay 10 euro's for conviction and it's 6 dollars in the US store. Come on steam.....

BAH. Was waiting for Worms Reloaded in the hopes that the DLC would be on sale too, yet it seems it's just the main game on the daily deal and DLC is still -15% :(

I assume that if I want to play Mass Effect 2 I have to get 1 as well to get the "full experience"?

it makes it more fulfilling. besides, the majority of the characters that return in ME2 are from ME1. start from the beginning

Yeah... There is something really wrong with The Last Remnant in some regions. It's nearly impossible to find. I don't remember how I managed to find it, but once I did I added it to my wishlist. I had to go through my wishlist now to get to it so that I could buy it. Thankfully it was 75% off here as well, but like I said, something is fucked up with that game. It has never shown a price in my wishlist like all other games either. It's so weird.

Oh well, I finally got it for a nice price.

I love cheevos, but the PC version is SO much better than the 360 version. It's not even a question.
Yup. I've seen the list. Cheese mints lose in this case.

Come onn, Skittles. Get it on PC and play it!
Might as well, I've avoided most of the daily sales games until now.

Plus, a JRPG at 1080p 60fps will be nice. [/masterraceelitism]

Short answer, yes. That's not to say you shouldn't do it, but your ME1 playthrough does have an impact on your ME2 game, and it's the second game in a story-driven trilogy, so the assertion is technically correct.

Are we getting new deals tomorrow?

There's no reason to believe we aren't. They've never done back-to-back recaps before, I don't see them starting now.

Haha sounds good to me.

I think I'll skip on Amnesia. I'll get ME2 today and SR2 tomorrow. Hopefully I'm not too tempted by Alpha Protocol on the final day (I'm assuming It'll be repeated).

Everyone should get amnesia, and both ME games if you haven't played them

I refuse to buy Fallout 3 GOTY unless it comes down to around $5, I still need to finish the second one, I know is not a continuation of the story from FO or FO2, but I still like to see the progress in the franchise, plus I heard FO2 is pretty awesome game so it's going to be a while until I touch FO3. In short, I can wait

MMmm the Last Remnant...66... Sorry but I guess I'll pass, maybe next time if it's cheaper

ME2 is good, but definitely finish ME1 first. Although there aren't as many choices carried over as their should be, it still adds a lot to the experience to play through the series in order with the same Shepard.

YES. Not even a question.

ME1 isn't that long, really. Skip the repaste sidequests if you want (they certainly have their charm though, bow to the vistas) and it's roughly a 20 hour game. Best final act ever.

ME2 sidequests are excellent, and varied (bow to the loyalties). ME2 was much longer for me. 56 hour save with all the DLC.

Why does Mass Effect 2 get hate on GAF? I've only played the first one.

It's better to ask that in a mass effect thread, we don't need that drama in this thread. It can get pretty heated.

Short answer: Heavily streamlined.

Please do yourself a favor and play through ME1 first. It is a total different experience if you import your choices from the first game and meet returning characters (or not!!! if they died) depending on your decisions you made in the first game.

I already own Fallout 3 and all its DLC on the 360, but I'm tempted to double dip. Does GAF think it's worth it? Also, what do people think of the Last Remnant?

Sounds like you're describing Star Ocean 4.

I feel like you're thinking of Star Ocean 4.

After some google action I guess I had it confused with Infinite Undiscovery.. yuck, that game looked stupid.

In that case I'll check it out. I'm guessing it has 360 controller support?

No, I don't think there has ever been a sale on Bioware space bucks. I have been hoping they would come out with an equivalent to the Dragon Age Ultimate Edition for Mass Effect 2, but no luck so far. I might cave someday and just finally pick up Shadow Broker.

That's the only actually worth picking up. The other DLCs have their redeeming qualities, but Shadow Broker is the only one that actually adds story to the game. The rest are merely side missions. And no, I haven't forgotten about Arrival, but that DLC is so short and linear, that you're better off just watching it on youtube.

Seriously, don't spend more than $10 for the DLC. Just get Shadow Broker and be done with it.

TLR on 360 has technical issues and runs like crap, which the PC version pretty much fixes. Basically the combat system is the best thing about the game while the story is mediocre.\

Also there seems to be a few JRPGs on the 360 that are kinda bad:
Star Ocean 4, Eternal Sonata, Infinite Undiscovery.

I'd put TLR above those in quality.

What's the consensus on Worms: Reloaded? I love Armageddon and I'm really tempted by Reloaded, but I haven't heard anything good about it.

I like it. And it's only 5 bucks, that costs about half a lunch meal at a decent place. Can't go that wrong..

Yeah, I'm very much in a "mulling" state. I'm kinda done with JRPGs with serious story/character issues, they just aren't fun for me anymore. The combat does look really cool, though, and I agree that it isn't the likeliest candidate for a winter encore.

Just gonna have to do a little reading and see how bad the story really is.

Considering Mafia 2, but I'm not sure I'm in the mood for a game like that right now.

Its a really good game. I brought it for the same price a while ago an it was a steal.

It isn't "GOTY, AMAZING, INCREDIBLE!", but it isn't a "Worthless Piece of Shit that Should be Killed with Fire!".

This generation I'm sure you've noticed a trend of people labeling games either the former or the latter, very rarely people will label something as somewhere inbetween the two.

Mafia II gets lost in the middle because it is one such game. Its just simply "Really good."

Buy it.

I'm slowly losing hope that I'll see Metro 2033 and Mirror's Edge as daily deals. Think I may get Mass Effect 2 today.

Metro 2033 is pure shit. Don't buy it.
