Last Remnant PC version is better than the console versions?

I'm at:

Half-Life Complete
The Longest Journey + Dreamfall
Plants vs Zombies
Defense Grid: The Awakening
KOTOR
Deus Ex
Audiosurf

And I've been gifted Trine and Torchlight. I'm super satisfied.

I think I'll pick up VVVVVV and call it quits. I'll see what they have to offer these last few days though.

Yes, the only outdated game there is the first Splinter Cell. Chaos Theory is a master piece and Conviction and Double Agent are really good games. Conviction multiplayer is really good. I don't know if Chaos Teory co op works online this days.

I'd say double agent is okay at best

Yes, unfortunately. Empire started off a trend of massively sized Total War games which has yet to come to an end.

Hope you don't have a bandwidth cap!

no bandwidth cap, yeah!

You can't expect them to cram a total war into just 10 gigs. Maybe if you just wanted a partial war.

I was deceived by the demo which was 2gb

That seems to be what people are saying, better controls, fewer restrictions. I haven't played either though.

Just to satisfy curiosity.. which restrictions?

It's a massive gap between the two. The PC version is like a directors cut that fixes all the stupid shit in the console version. Add 60 fps to the equation (where the console version runs like absolute dogshit) and it's no question as to which one is better.

I'm starting to get sick over all these games I've purchased. I remember when I had only about 1 or 2 games on my computer and I would play them for HOURS on end. Now I can't even decide what I want to play.

I hardly consider the Xbox 360 version playable considering its technical issues. The PC version is great. The game definitely has its problems though, and it would normally be hard to recommend to everyone, but for $10 it should be worth checking out.

So, realistically, if Portal 2 ends up being a daily deal tomorrow, just how much of a discount should we expect? 50?
I think realistically, they wouldn't go lower than 50 or 66% off, but who knows. They could go crazy.

You know that the answer of this question like 95% percent of the time is yes

Just saying...

Unless it's Saint's Row 2.

But my current rig can get 30-40fps in SR2 anyway, so... I'm gonna go ahead and say superior version there too. :p

Totally, I remember playing the crap out of Starcraft 1, then on my PS2 I got GTA 3 and I played the bejeesus out of that. Somewhere I read that choice is not really the best thing, well fuck that shit, I'm stocking up for a rainy day. Well, more like a Noah's Arc type of flood.

Damn been hoping Portal 2 would pop up on daily but doesn't look like that is going to happen.

Stll got 6 games so not a bad take away.

I love PC gaming
I love Steam
I love Steam Sales
I love having a library of games to choose from

but, I hate bandwidth caps. :(

that's the biggest downside to digital downloads. I need to find another ISP, since I only have a 150gb limit with AT&T.

I have like almost 100gb to install from these steam sales, and it's barley the second week of July.

I guess I could just wait until August to install some, but I kind of wanted to see how some of the games look on my PC.

They did patch in a summer achievement for it, so maybe, just maybe :). 50% seems like a lot for such a new game though, then again I picked up L4D2 at 50% off just a few months after release so.

Seeing as you're probably not gonna really get into some of those games, why not just download the one you're actually gonna play?

50 is what I was thinking the whole time. I'm still going to get it at the 33% but I was hoping to save a few extra dollars by waiting haha.

So far on this Steam sale I've gotten:

Oblivion: GOTY Deluxe
Just Cause 2 + All DLC
Heroes of Might and Magic Pack (HoMMV+2 Xpacks + Dark Messiah of MM)
Total War: Shogun 2
SpaceChem
Magicka
HOARD
Defense Grid: The Awakening + All DLC
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition
Frozen Synapse
Bionic Commando
Lara Croft: Guardian of Light + All DLC

Currently have ME2 and SC:Chaos Theory in my cart. Going to check and see if the wife wants Worms:Rearmed to put on her mac. What I'm holding out for:

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Gold Edition (first one)
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II Retribution (convinced myself on the first day I didn't need it since I haven't gotten through Chaos Rising yet, but for $15 I'll probably say fuck it and jump)
Europa Universalis III + Xpacks and DLC.
Drakensang The River of Time

Will probably buy the last two even if they don't make the daily deal tomorrow because the discounts are still pretty solid.

I have 105 games on Steam right now. 17 are listed as "played recently". I play a fucking lot of games.

Holding off on picking my next large scale PC game until after the sale though. Always wanted to get into EUIII so if it goes on sale and I do jump on it thats probably the choice. Otherwise I'll probably just start on Company of Heroes that I bought last Holiday Sale and haven't started yet.

That's if you take the series for granted, compare it to other games in the genre and its better than the mayority. Double Agent is not as inpired as Chaos Theory was but still is a really good stealth game. Co op was still a blast and measures well to the same component in Chaos Theory.

Still the point is anyone who enjoys Chaos Theory won't have much trouble going through Double Agent even if is not as good.

I'm trying to get the ticket for the Spiral Knights achievement, but I can't log in with Steam. It says "Logging on..." and then 30 seconds later it says "You have been disconnected". I couldn't really find anything definitive by Googling, so you are my last resort GAF! Please help!
Probably a router incompatibility. Try directly connecting to your pc.

This. Or if all else fails, delete clientregistry.blob (I think that's the file?) Fixes a ridiculous amount of issues people have with Steam.

Sooo, asked some pages ago but no one responded.
I enjoyed Rome Total War (not wow, this game is amazing, but had a good time).
Whats the opinion of the super mega Empire Napoleon Total War pack?
What does improve about Rome?
Does it have things like better done cities when you do assaults on them, or do they still look bad designed with just a bunch of buildings in spaces with a wall surrounding them?
If you could give an opinion of it, I would be very glad.

360 version is playable, it's just not very pleasant. There's no comparison, though, you play the PC version if you can and forget the console version existed.

Just pulled the trigger on my "big" purchase of the sale - the one you're supposed to do on the last day. I wanted to play some of this stuff this weekend, plus I'm almost positive none of it will be a daily tomorrow:

Your Shopping Cart
$6.24 The Longest Journey + Dreamfall (2 games)
$29.99 id Super Pack (13 games, 9 expansions/DLC)
$3.34 Puzzle Agent (1 game)
$5.01 Freedom Force: Freedom Pack (2 games)
$7.99 Paradox Fantasy Pack (3 games, 6 expansions/DLC)
$4.99 Hacker Evolution Collection (2 games)
$4.99 Faerie Solitaire (1 game)
$58.81 Estimated total (24 games, 15 expansions/DLC)

MOST of these games are new to me, although a few I'm picking up for archival purposes. So... this is whole lot of gameplay I'm picking up.

Brings my total for the sale up to something like $115, but I'm new-ish to steam so some of that $115 is me picking up the usual suspects (id pack, Oblivion, etc). I should come out closer to being unscathed in later sales, as I actually have pretty good self control when it comes to these things, compared to most of GAF.

Edit: Purchase reduced my Wishlist from 93 to 82, too. Nice. Would have reduced it more, but I only had one id game in there, to remind me to nab the whole pack.
