QUICK! Someone talk me out of The Last Remnant. I hate JRPGS.

Common Jrpg problems: side quests are boring, terrible acting and voice overs that might seem wrong to anyone outside the loli fetish tribe. Horrible story plots.

Bah, can't really. Never finished my copy, but enjoyed the first 20 hours or so. The combat system is fun though. I think the crafting was decent aswell? .. might be thinking about another game.

Sounds like my experience almost exactly.

Still hoping for Terraria, Anomaly, and
Bloodlines
tomorrow.

Wanted to pick up Frozen Synapse as well, but no Steam at work means I'll probably buy it from the maker's webpage next month when I get the cash.

EDIT: One tip, though: fighting enemies that are way above you (battles that start with the morale gauge entirely in the enemy's favor) give you lots of stat boosts with minimal impact on your battle rank, so if you did want to grind, that's how you'd want to do it.

Also, the more you grind / complete, the harder time you'll have at the end of the game. Can't really go into more detail. Also, I'm not sure if the achievements are the same as the 360, but if you care about that kind of thing you may be in for a rough ride. Fun battle system though.

So is The Last Remnant good? I recall it being spoken highly of on GAF

EDIT: Let me guess...I just missed a bunch of discussion on the previous page?
Guessed right, it's been a big topic of discussion. People seem to like it.

How are the X games? I'm kinda sad Steam doesn't have the Mac ports, oh well. Might be interested though. I've been buying too many space themed games lately.

Scaling? .. Thank god I never finished it then.

Gonna take a guess here .. you fight yourself or some clones. Or do they just match the boss to be 5% better than you?

Yeah, I think I'm going to grab it. For ten bucks I'll gamble on a positively discussed title, and I haven't had a good JRPG experience outside of Racettear in a while.

X3 is insane. I like to think of it as single-player EVE .. just without the insane learning curve. The industrial part of the game is really awesome though, setting up factories and creating trade lanes/ trading mecas.

There is quite an extensive mod community. I remember one mod that made the game's sectors completely random. So the 'enemy' would spawn in with a large battle force and take over sectors and etc.

Sandbox game that I might have spent a good 300-400 hours on.

granted some of those hours was to farm monies via trade .. flying out a good 500km and increase speed by 8

Edit: forgot to say, buy if you are into the whole space genre or empire building thing. You won't regret it

You really are from the future. So that's-

Dead Space
Hitman
X Superbox
PoP Series

Confirmed.

8 spots left.

Hope Warhammer DoW 2 Gold Pack will show up, aswell as Brink, Hunted, Dungeon Siege 3, First Templar and Daggerdale. Been waiting for a big bargain on those games since the 1st and nothing yet :/

Can't believe nothing on the top 10 of my wishlist has shown up on daily sales yet... Ah well guess I got to spend money on unexpected games instead but still...

You're sort of correct. It is tied into the storyline somewhat, but your experience at the end will vary depending on how much you've completed.

has anyone tried universe sandbox? seems unique. I'm a huge sci fi nerd too. Looking for gaf approval before purchase :D

Based on the GiantBomb Quick Look, it really doesn't look like something most people will get more than one play session's worth of enjoyment out of. For $5, it doesn't seem worth it to me.

Hmm ... strangely I have this sudden need to experience this.
Bah, gonna go read up on it rather. Just thinking about installing the game is making me depressed.

Lets try this again. Will my main steam account be banned if I do the following.

steps:
1.) Log into a private owned vpn that masks my IP to the US.
2.) Create a new steam account.
3.) Put money into my steam wallet via paypal.
4.) Buy a game and gift it to my main account.
5.) ??? bannage?

Probably not, but why not find a US based Gaffer, and have them gift you the game after you paypal the funds over?

Does any region have a 60% (ish) discount on ME2 Digital Deluxe edition? It seems weird that it's got a 63% discount in a 2-pack with the first game but only 40% on its own, while the non-deluxe has a 66% one on its own.

Think I asked earlier a couple of times .. although extremely vague I might admit.
Was gonna wait until I can confirm that Alpha protocol shows up on the last day before I start my constant begging.

Plus I do like the idea of being able to do it 'whenever'.
Come the last day and alpha's on, you will see how a grown man can plead :p

Do you have a PSP or DS?

The last 3 days of sale have not yielded anything of interest I don't already own, so I've been looking for stuff not on the frontpage.

I'm kinda digging NixQuest's look, anyone play it yet?

This. Or if all else fails, delete clientregistry.blob (I think that's the file?) Fixes a ridiculous amount of issues people have with Steam.

I found out that changing MTL or something to 1458 instead of 1500 works. Thanks guys.

Funny, I'm not seeing it on sale in the store deals page, but I *am* seeing it on sale if I look it up directly.

Good news about the Dead Space sale, looks like DS2 will be mine. Don't be a fucking cheapskate, EA, $15 sounds right.

Terraria has got to go on sale, I'm hoping to goes for cheap so I can gift a few copies.

Nope. Played the game for fifty hours without issue. Screenshot and hardware?
Well I was sort of trying to run a mod that enhances the LOD on leaves and such.

Either way, I reloaded the game without the mod and they're completely gone.
I think it may have been the mod I ran as the squares became smaller and eventually faded away the closer I got to 'em, so something wasn't working right with the LOD models I think.

It's either that or alt tabbing in and out that corrupts something :). In any way, it's not a permanent issue it seems as the areas that had the error now look okay.

I also survived my first boar encounter and killed that sunova like there was no tomorrow

I'm going to be sort of mad about the Dead Space 2 sale. Bought it on Origin for $24 but would have preferred it to be on Steam. Ironically enough, the week after I bought it, it went on sale on Steam for the same price. I haven't actually touched the game yet too. Dammit, where's my feet when I need it? Must kick myself in the ass.

How intrusive is the Ubisoft DRM? Does it install anything, like a service etc?

No services or hidden driver nonsense but it does run a little system tray app in the background while the game is running however.

Eh, could be worse. Origin is a pretty good download service imo and there's nothing stopping you from adding a shortcut to the game in the Steam client :)

DS yes. The last RPG I want to say I really got into was SMT: Devil Survivor or Etrian Odyssey III

You're good then. FF: 4 Heroes of light is actually kinda cool, and if you ever pick up a PSP, try the Ys series of games out, especially I+II and Tactics Ogre.

3 days since I've bought something. Hoping either Longest Journey 1 & 2, Still Life 1 & 2, Syberia 1 & 2 and of course, V:tM-B goes on sale.

True. The whole Steam-unifying thing is an OCD thing more than anything else. And as far as I've heard, DS2 is worth every penny :p Just gotta get myself through the first one first.

Wooo! Glad that my account is finally validated! :) I've been following the Steam sales threads here for a few years now and I think I've accumulated a decent haul so far:

BIT.TRIP.RUNNER $2.50
Heroes of Might and Magic V Pack $4.99
Assassin's Creed Collector's Pack $27.19
Trine $1.99
Fallout: New Vegas DLC $5.98
Frozen Synapse: Soundtrack Edition $14.99
Guild Wars: Trilogy & Guild Wars: Eye of the North $24.98
Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition $2.49
Jamestown $4.99
Sanctum $3.75

Total Damage so far: $93.85

Not too bad I'd say.

Thanks, I dont know if I would get it, yet. The no good cities thing doesnt impress me.
Is the singleplayer campaign good?, is the only thing im going to play. I mean story and how it plays.
Wasn't really impressed with the campaign, but I'm someone who almost only plays 'conquer the world' in these games.

I'd save your money and get Shogun 2 later on when it gets cheaper. Haven't played that one yet myself, but it is supposed to be way better.
