Went ahead and shot my load today. Hope tomorrow is a recap and I hope Space Chem isn't one of the deals otherwise I'm gonna be kicking myself in the ass all day long.

Hmmm, DS2 15$? Pass until 10$. I enjoyed the first but I wasn't going crazy over it for the sequel right now.

If tomorrow is a recap, looks like I'm going to haul in a 25$ or so batch of games starting with Bloodlines, the Eschalon Books and maybe Medieval II Gold.

Just purchased whispered world because the art looks so charming but how long is the game?
Thanks.

Depends how good you are at adventure games. 15-20 hours, more if you aren't used to adventures.

My haul this sale:

Oblivion GOTY
Defense Grid Awakening
Transformers WFC
Tropico 3
Sanctum
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Amnesia

Total: $45.81

Spent more than I thought I would. But hundreds of hours of gameplay for $45 is totally worth it to me. Now to hide my wallet till the winter sale.

Terraria is a great value with constant large updates from the creator. I highly suggest you check it out.

And by large he means content wise, I'm happily surprised at how small the game is (16mb) updates tend to be about half the game size too.

Sanctum and Company of Heroes sent a lot of time at the top, with Sanctum as #1 for that day.

Sanctum sold the most in the UK at least.

Really want to get this X3 download started, this is the first time I've had any real persistent issue during the sale. Simply keeps telling me the servers are too busy.

Damn, that MS paint challenge was brilliant. That should be standard practice for quote gifts.

I have them all saved. I'm gonna post a picture of my fridge covered in Agent 47 art for all to see once the sale is over.

On iPhone. Can someone do a semi-detailed writeup on X3:TC, what it is, how does it play and what its great appeal is?

I have no experience of the series. I've heard it described as "singleplayer Eve", but Ive never played Eve either.

Just purchased Pendulo pack, I have enough games on my steam list to last me the next 5 years now.
As soon as retail drops out the better as far as I am concerned. Keeps my wife happy too as there is no games boxes lying about the house.

XD

That is not too far off from my own experience with the game. Which is particularly bad since it was gifted to
inflicted upon
me.

How does everyone feel about PoP: The Forgotten Sands for $5?

I've been interested in it but to be honest the only PoP experience I have is the "reboot" PoP that came out a few years ago and I didn't enjoy that much.
It was enjoyable. I too only tried PoP 2008 and didn't really like it.
Although it lacks the amazing art style of PoP 2008 and it feels like one long chapter (the setting look mostly the same during the whole game + traps and enemies are exactly the same).

No Metro in the whole sale. :( I passed on Alpha Protocol in hopes Metro would get a good deal. :( :( :(

i bought this for 4.99 from play.com, doubt its gonna get cheaper. steamworks too

I'm watching that SA X3 walkthru that was posted. This looks really fun, reminded me of Tie Fighter a little bit. I did some googling and there are mods to add Tie Fighters/Star Destroyers/etc. This is fucking awesome, I hope it works with the steam copy.

I'm still a pretty new Steam user.

Does Steam not allow background downloading if you're playing a game?

I started up Deus Ex and all of my downloads paused.

I'm considering buying NWN2 Platinum but I already purchased Dragon Age Origins ultimate. should I, or should I not.

Definitely wish I didn't pick Terraria up at launch. My friends and I could never get multiplayer working so we never played it and have since lost interest in it. :/

Wonder if they're going to pull out a recap tomorrow or more games considering it hasn't always been a recap.

I took a look at Deus Ex and all of my downloads paused.

It stops it when you enter a game. You can circumvent this by alt-tabbing out and resuming the dl manually.

By default it pauses the download, but you can resume it. Alt-tab out of the game, and resume the download then. It'll download just fine when you're playing. Yes, it's stupid that this isn't a toggle. Yes, it's stupid that you have to do this. Yes, some games don't work well with alt-tab. But that's the solution!

fffffuuuuu trying to get a Games for Windows Live game to work is one of the worst user experiences.

I have a fucking hard drive on my computer, but it makes me update, sign in, and restart numerous times just to save a game.

There has been a recap every winter/summer sale for as long as I've been participating in them. There used to be two.

they probably do it just in case you decide to jump into CSS or TF2 and don't want lag, but yea, there should be a toggle in preferences for users.

So, should us ticket hunters have our top ten lists sorted by tomorrow or what? Mine is in a complete state of disarray from the sale week and I need to put some things on there that are over ten dollars in case I win the grand prize but I'm probably going to be wanting to actually play games all day.

Nice, I was just going to ask about this.
Like I need more reasons to spend money. :(

Anyways, my damage so far:

Screenshot2011-07-09at112201PM.png

Not too bad... The total comes to $46.02 so far, which is...more than I expected, actually, considering that I already own 95% of the dailies. BUT THINK OF THE VALUE COMPARED TO A 60 DOLLAR FULL-PRICE GAME. [/rationalizing] Also planning on picking up X3:TC and Bloodlines (PLEASE BE A DAILY). Oh, and I got Terraria for free from the wonderfully generous DennisK4.

Excluding this year's summer sale, I have spent $760 on Steam since the last winter sales. Out of my 232 Steam games, I have played around half a dozen of them. I really need to tone the spending down
after this year's end of the year sales
.
