Yeah not touching Terraria anymore for that price, was about to jump the ship earlier. Surely this will have a pretty bad effect on Terraria sales for the remaining of the day?

I doubt it... it was the top game listed every other day right after the daily deals.

Sanctum is my super surprise of this sale.

I bought it because of partial interest plus ticket achievement and I'm now in love with it.

I was looking through my history earlier today, my first ever Steam game was Geometry Wars which was something I was desperate for but I didn't have an Xbox 360 at the time. After that I had Half Life 1 Anthology and The Orange Box from retail discs. After that was Beyond Good and Evil (a throwaway as I had it on Xbox and Gamecube, but I was desperate to put money towards a sequel, which was announced a few days after its Steam release if I do recall), Torchlight and Recettear. That was the entirety of my Steam library until April. Well, I got a new PC after nearly a decade of not caring and after Portal 2, I've bought almost forty new games on Steam.

If I was a small dev I would most certainly keep an eye out to see that the discount was correct, and this is not the first time this as happend.
Unless the agreement is for Valve to cover the difference. If that was the case, I'd probably take a long lunch before letting Valve know.

The thing is, we don't know what goes on behind closed doors. Do the devs have special rules like (first X copies sell at 75% then up it to 50%)? Is the price-setter at Valve just really sloppy? Do devs get greedy when they see their game selling like mad and call Valve up to make them change the price halfway through the day? Are they just trolling GAF and waiting until they see someone find 3 out of 4 people for a 4-pack before they up the price?

Who know?

Did they increase the price to Terraria? It was $2.49 now its $4.99.

That's unfortunate. I had it in my cart, debating if I should get it at 2.49, won't touch it at 4.99.

For real, this is pretty much exactly my experience with Fallout 3. Some days in the wasteland it would crash every 5 minutes and just be insufferable. Sometimes I could play for 2 or 3 hours at a time, without a single crash. Usually indoor areas were okay. I ended up quick saving pretty much every time I switched areas, or like every 5 or 10 minutes. I'm not even exaggerating.

I tried to make the best of it though, I'd stay up real late sometimes playing it just cause I'd get so hooked. Then it'd crash and I'd just say, "Oh well, it's way past time for bed anyway."

Even with all the bugs and crashes in FO3/FNV, when/if they click with you, there is no game like them. I've spent 83 hours in FO3 so far, all skills at 100, level 27 currently and I haven't touched any of the DLCs or finished the vanilla campaign before Broken Steel.

Same here. I just got done playing the game for two and a half hours online with a friend in endless mode. Excellent twist on your typical tower defense game by placing you right in the action alongside all the defenses you set up.

hehe, my first steam game was portal and that was because it was free.

After this sale I don't even want to think about how many games I now have

I have a gift copy of Europa Univeralis III Complete I'm looking to unload. I paid $5 for it during the winter sale. It's going for $10 now. So I'm looking for $5 or a game of equivalent value. If anyone's interested lemme know!

(Posted this in the gifting thread a few days ago, which wasn't the place for it. Sorry about that!)
Check your PM.

I approve of this post. Sanctum is indeed awesome.

For sure. The crashes were a huge buzz kill but it didn't stop me from putting 60 hours into the game and all the DLC. I got New Vegas a few weeks ago on D2D and the DLC during this summer sale, and I'm really looking forward to jumping in.

What made you spend so much time with it?

It's hard to pinpoint with this game, I was one of the people that didn't 'get' it at first but upon revisiting was hooked. I jumped into a MP server with some friendly people so there was always something interesting going and always someone around to help. I think what mainly got me was just the ridiculous amount of awesome content in the game, I was always fining something epic to see/do/loot and it really gives you a great sense of progression with the boss fights throughout the game.

Being depressed and drunk during Steam Summer Sale = buying Prince of Persia Complete Pack.

Fuck this shit.

Actually, I love PoP so I hope I'm gonna enjoy Forgotten Sands.

Alright, let's accept this new price and ask the relevant question. Is Terraria worth it at 5 dollars?

Terraria is worth it at its full price at $10. I know that goes against idea of sales and steam, but it's a damn good game.

I paid $10 and put 37 hours into it... and I haven't touched it in for a while, so there's at least 3 content patches I've yet to mess with. Pretty much everyone I know that plays Terraria has a similar experience.

So absolutely it's worth $5. I understand the sour grapes that it went up in price, but you should still pick it up.

Edit

Anybody want to trade anything for Secret of Monkey Island? I've got another gift copy of it that I'm willing to trade for a $2 game or so.

I have a spare copy of Terraria that was intended for my g/f, but she is unlikely to ever play it, if you're truly heartbroken shoot me a PM or something if you have anything you want to trade or what have you.

Hah! You're all softies! My first Steam game was the almighty Half-Life 2, and I paid FULL PRICE for it! All you young cheapskate whipper-snappers don't know how good you have it! *old man grousing to himself*

It was worth every penny. Still is.

Anyway: Sam & Max Complete - worth it if you otherwise dislike/don't understand point & click adventures? And have a huge backlog, and wouldn't be able to get to it right away?

It's disappointing that the price of Terraria went up. I was on the fence about the game, but for $2.50, I decided to give it a shot. I saw it at it's original price earlier, but I had leave, so I figured I'd just buy it when I got home.

I guess it doesn't hurt to ask, but does anyone have a unused copy of a 4-pack that they purchased at the earlier price? PM me if you do. If not I'll probably just wait for the next sale.

Mine was Half-Life 2 Collector's edition. After that it was orange box, audiosurf, and downhill started haha.

stuck my tongue deep inside Atlus' cookies
Terraria $2.50 was oviously an error guys. Happens all the time in Steam sales, and has even happened in THIS sale (Risen increased).

Put the pitchforks down. It's not an attempt to screw anyone, etc.

I can't really be mad at dev if they got greedy, it's their source of income after all. I just feel it's bad form to have a daily sale of 75% and then change it to 50%. I really hope that it was Valve that screwed up and that we get to know about it, since I would hate have a small dev suffer angry "maybe-I-would-have-bought-it-if-it-still-was-at-the-cheaper-pricepoint-but-now-I-won't-even-though-it-still-has-a-nice-discount"-people because of this.

And yes I'm somewhat in that group of people myself, I had just made up my mind to buy it just to have it change in my cart. Will think it over and see if I still will buy it, no need to rush now anyway... or is it...

No.

I was actually going to recommend that you try Sam and Max 104: Abe Lincoln Must die because it was free on steam, but apparently they took that down. Oh well.

Assuming tomorrow is a recap...

I think I did ok. My wallet survived etc.

(Red dot = it was gifted to me)

Not sure why I got so many gifts. One dude on a forum I'm on was going gift crazy and I'd just wake up each day with a couple gifts waiting. A lot of other forum members too, it seems from comments in the thread

Buying NWN2, got gifted Dead Space 2 by my brother. He still owes me £10, so I'm thinking either Portal 2 with me paying the difference, or Bloodlines.

Is it $20 on PC? Only $15 on the consoles.

I fired off a support ticket with my displeasure over the bait and switch on Terraria. Doubt anything comes of it, just wanted to let them know heh. I honestly don't know how, if it was a mistake, that Valve or the developer didn't notice till HOURS later. Particularly when it's right on the front page...

My first Steam game was HL2 Silver, including the Valve Complete-at-the-time Pack. Of course it was worth it at full price.

Anyway: Sam & Max Complete - worth it if you otherwise dislike/don't understand point & click adventures? And have a huge backlog, and wouldn't be able to get to it right away?
Yes.

You can get Sam & Max 104: Lincoln Must Die! for free at the Telltale site. Keep in mind, seasons 2 and 3 improve upon it greatly.

Point & click adventuring is just a medium for storytelling with a few puzzles thrown in. Sam & Max is hilarious, so if you have any sense of humor at all then this is money well spent.

Nothing for me today. The POP and Hitman packs sound tempting but I already have a huge backlog. If there are no more new daily sales tomorrow, then Bloodlines will be my last game for this sale.
